That's kinda the theme of most encounters in VoG 2.0. Confluxes don't go on for 3 and a half years, oracles don't go on for 7 years and gatekeepers *feels* shorter but is generally just a more engaging encounter
Honestly same. My group got stumped on atheon and ended up not completing it, but Templar was honestly a blast. Took us about 3 hours or so, and it really was a great experience
For teams struggling with the oracles something our team was number them 1-7 going clockwise. 1 would be middle and 7 would be the oracle closest to the back on the right side. it also helps to type the order of the oracles into chat if your on pc.
For the full experience play it on "360 mode." 30fps lock, 72 fov, all graphics low, and pull the resolution scale down to around 720p. New raid challenge?
only watched this to bring that rush of memories back from when i watched my d1 to prep for my first ever destiny raid back in the day. the musics back too! on a side note for anyone here learning on the oracle pre templar phase just use xeno. it one shots hobs and oracles.
For the oracles my team had two people with Xeno who sat around the back right pillar because from there you can see all 7 Oracle spawns. Then the other 4 people all just focused on killing enemies. Made the encounter WAY easier to coordinate and stay alive.
I dont care what people say. The changes are NOT difficult. People are greatly exaggerating the difficulty of D2 VoG purely based on Contest Mode. I think its the most played D2 raid on Day 1 or its had most day 1 completions or something from numbers ive seen. The changes were great. My group of raiders with little to moderate experience who havnt raided all together since Year 1 of D2 for Leviathan managed just fine on Non-Contest and picked up the new mechanics and had them down pat in a few runs. The D2 reprisal was great!
For oracle I like 3 oracle people 3 mob clear. 1 for the 3 on the left (spot at the back near hidden left gives vision on all of the left ones.) 1 for the 3 on right and 1 for middle. This one can also kill snipers. With that you just need to call the order you got em. (1...2....3....4...,etc...) Call em again has you destroy them. This keeps comms super clear has there is only usually 2 people calling numbers. This also lets the mob clearer camp the spawns and immediately delete them.
This and Eater of Worlds are the only raids I’ve managed before a Datto guide got released. I know there were already guides for OGVoG, but I’m still counting this as a win.
"templar encounters" I thought there was like, hidden different versions we missed or something lmao, didn't realize it was just going to be about oracles and confluxes as well haha
"me, who has farmed Templar in under a min with dbl shotgun anarchy" Wait, Templar is an encounter, I thought he was just a fancy Pinyata you have to beat the loot out of.
He ends up doing it, but it wasn't worth it in contest mode :) When he tried it took an extra 3-4 shots to finish them off because regen was so quick so you just ended up wasting ammo 😁 On normal it'll be fine though
Make sure you guys always do oracles as clockwise numbers starting with Hidden right as 1. I don’t want to deal with the DSC situation again where every fucking team has bizarrely different call outs.
Me who's done the raid 3 times but still just wants to hear this because the flashbacks of being in middle school doing VoG: "I cannot believe I'm a junior in college now...."
For Templar oracles, my team named them 1 - 7 starting with right hidden and going clockwise. This means mid is 4 and left hidden is 7. It makes it easier to remember as a string of numbers than a bunch of Rs and Ls
What my team did was just bake Templar relic holder blocking teleports after first wave of oracles nuke the boss in the well with divinity 2 slugs being far enough away from each other that someone could always break detainment Templar died before second wave of oracles ever appeared
A bit of constructive criticism Datto, I feel like the Oracle encounter was not explained thoroughly enough. Do they spawn in a specific order, or randomly? Best spots to be on the lookout for oracles, and so on Other than that, amazing as always
What’s the deal with the detainment on aetheon? My team never has enough time to determine who has imminent detainment and we can never get enough DPS even though we are using the suggested loadouts and supers
Imminent detain debuff with a 5 second countdown goes to a random player at 15 seconds remaining on Time's Vengance (so halfway through damage phase). Another tip is that damage starts the moment the final(9th) oracle is destroyed. Outside team should be supering and going for damage immediately and not waiting for the portal team to arrive.
