Imagine if Byf never made videos but still knew all this lore and you randomly found him on LFG to do the raid and he just randomly starts explaining the lore this in-depth.

To your point about Savathun taking Riven, it was actually Oryx who took Riven originally. This event is recounted in the Hood of the Great Hunt. Robes of the Great Hunt further details how Riven adopted Oryx's will without losing her own. It's not until later in the set, after Oryx's death, with Boots of the Great Hunt that we see (presumably) Savathun "take up those strings" and take control of Riven after Oryx's death left her without a master.

As much as I enjoyed Byf's explaining of all the lore. I just love how he got sidetracked at 21:00 with Ballerhorn's placement of the flag.

byf have you ever considered the reason that guardians dont remember thier pasts is because the light stops them from seeing the darkness they saw in the void when they died, and that them loosing all of thier memories is a side effect of the light taking away the guardians memories of the darkness in the void.

6:40 Remembering reading a lore tab where there were two Hunters and an Ahamkara playing cards together. The dragon appeared humanoid in this instance and one of the Hunters lost and likely became a Hunter Vanguard as a result. Don't recall where I saw that but I loved the little story.

No fam, it was the Tempest. He knew Shakespeare like the back of his hand. And some other things he yells at Guardians over the comms are also Shakespeare inspired. I have a head canon, that Shaxx just loves Pre Golden Age Literature and plays. His Crucible den might be covered in skulls and swords, But I am sure his bedroom is covered in books and manusscripts

Hey Byf, you know the scorn baron, Hiraks, the mindbender? Actually what am I saying, oh course you know the mindbender. Anyways lately there was a strike know as "bloodhold", where you had to kill a hive brood queen know as "In annath". And in the beginning of the strike, spider says that Hiraks and In annath had a relationship and that In annath, was a traitor to her kin, Like Nokris. So if you could, maybe you can cover the story between Hiraks and In annath?

The riven's curse mod gives you +5%dmg/mod and is currently bugged so you don't take any more damage than without it.. tests have been made to confirm this by Ehroar if I remember correctly..

I thought that with Riven telling you to kill her but her putting up one hell of a fight to prevent you from doing so was showing that she didn't have control over her physical actions. I figured that because of the Ahamkara's ability to whisper through bones and dust past their death that while being taken would allow the one who took her to control her physical actions, her mind and voice would remain her own no matter what, not even being taken could take an Ahamkara's voice sense not even death can. I will say I had to stop watching to sleep so if you did touch on the lore behind her telling you to kill her I have yet to hear it. I was just curious if my theory is possible.

The details you mentioned during the Kalli fight about the firstborn Awoken and Nine being unaccounted for is *very* interesting because one of the many theories In-Universe about what the Nine are is that they were "The firstborn Awoken and their minds now race down the field lines of the Jupiter-Io flux tube."

Watching this again a year later on the eve of beyond light is so mindblowing how so many of Byfs speculations are totally true. It's almost like bungie started crafting the lore around byfs speculations in this specific video lol. Astounding.

I see the whole Ascendant Realm thing allowing them to bypass death as something as somewhere they can stop and reconsider on their way to be remade after death, giving them the option to turn around. Something to ground them while they're incorporeal.

Why have you not made one of these for Deep Stone Crypt?! I recently discovered this video and the follow up for Garden of Salvation and absolutely loved watching the raid and getting the lore bits together. I truly hope you have planned to make one for The Deep Stone Crypt. As much as I know about The Vault of Glass, I think one for that would also be a fun one to watch.
