It may be that Uldren is in fact still the main villain of this expansion but not the greatest threat. It may be that Uldren has taken command of the Barons and the Scorn as a means of combating whatever has made it’s lair in the Dreaming City. Yet why would Uldren do this? Keep in mind that according the lore drop of the Barons that they were incredibly powerful enemies to the Reef and required Cayde’s and a band of Guardians to put all but one in the prison. While my guesses about such things may be incorrect, I’m willing to hazard that when Uldren returned and learned of what was going on in the Dreaming City, he would see that he would need to need every asset available to deal with this crisis...including the special talents of the Barons. This would have definitely put him at odds with Petra, who is still the acting regent at the time. It begs the question though... why Uldren didn’t come to the Guardians got help? I feel the answer is obvious. He hates Guardians, even more so than usual especially after the Awoken fleet sacrificed itself to buy time for the Guardians. The Fallen and Scorn on the other hand could be bend to his will and word (which leads me to believe he doesn’t see them as equals or allies but as tools). There may have been a massive falling out when Uldren suggested using the Barons and the Scorn, with Petra, Variks, and the others putting their foots down and denying Uldren. So instead, he would take matters into his own hands and imitate his plan by force. Didn’t matter who got in his way, it’s all for the best of the Awoken, just like his sister would’ve done. This all provided my speculation proves correct, which in all honestly it likely won’t. But who knows?
The Gentlesaurian Velocidapper you mate should be a writer for Bungie. As much as I hate to say it, this sounds far more compelling than anything they’re going to do. You could even have the reveal as you’re guardian is about to murder Uldren, and no one would expect it, cause outside of those who know about this theory of yours, everyone just sees him as a bastard who kills Cayde and who we want to kill in the worst way possible. This is depth, and it’s bloody wonderful. I hope this is correct
The Gentlesaurian Velocidapper, that is truly compelling, and from a story standpoint, i hope your theory holds true. But in my book he is still the bloody bastard that should die in the most pain inducing and most satisfying way possible.
The Gentlesaurian Velocidapper Something that makes Uldrens plan fall apart is that he killed Cayde-6. He should've known that if he killed a Guardian, a vanguard especially, we would naturally seek revenge. So why would Uldren kill Cayde if that puts his plan at risk? Well remember what he said to Cayde in the trailer, "This is going to hurt a lot", it sounds like whatever his reason for killing Cayde was, it was personal. Why else would he say it like that, he even killed him with his own weapon and kept it as a trophy.
The Gentlesaurian Velocidapper I think that Cayde was in the wrong place at the wrong time, Uldren is trying to stop whatever is corrupting the city and maybe, to save his sister.
I think the Dreaming City has something to do with the creation of the Awoken, or at least the old seat of power. It'd make sense considering you don't go to the Vestian Palace or anything, you go to the Vestian Outpost. I'd imagine that the Awoken had to leave the place before the events of the first game and couldn't return due to the attacking Taken armies.
Its the darkness because in the awoken grimore cards it says the awoken were once humans who tried to escape the the darkness during the collapse but they were touched by the darkness and they were changed forever
Glad people are finally catching up on Savathun likely being the big bad here. People were very infatuated with Uldren being the main villain when Forsaken was first shown. Uldren is probably gonna be one of those villain that doesnt get much screentime, but we end up loving to hate.
now THIS is the kind of content I'd love to see. Bungie having us ally with the guy who killed Cayde-6? I wanna see that happening and the reasons they give.
The Complaintionist for some reason I remembered Toland since he very obviously has his own ascendant realm and not to mention he has dabbled in the dark arts of the hive so is it hard to say it might be him and maybe he got the power to take somehow. This is probably wrong and is most likely Savathün but it shouldn't be wrong to speculate
I really like how the Ascendant Plane is basically the Upside Down from Stranger Things. Also Petra says that there is a creature residing in the city, a beast of some sort, probably an emissary, instance, or proxy of some sort that is being influenced by a greater entity
Xx OGGumby07 Exactly. Quria, Blade Transform, could be responsible. His last known whereabouts was when he was gifted to Savathūn by Oryx after causing trouble in his throne world. Quria would be a proxy controlled by Savathūn in this case
My bet is that the raid boss is the Taken vex mind given to Savathun by Oryx. This is the calm before the storm from when we'll take down Savathun in 2019
Camgor this was in destiny guides video, he went in depth about that hydra or whatever but he didn’t call it the raid boss, I personally think it’s gonna be an Ahamkara
Perhaps it’s possible that we get a glimpse of Savathun but the raid boss is her younger sister Xivu Arath. I mean after all she is the only female knight in existence and who knows what she’d look like. And we know absolutely nothing about her movements after the war with Harmony. After seeing the trailer I did a little deep dive about the two remaining sisters colour me intrigued just something about the hive lore that’s so fascinating. Can’t wait to get my hands on the grimoire.
Hive lore is great, but man I don't like those worms. I wish the Cabal's lore was a bit better, I'd like to see what will happen with Calus and becoming a shadow.
Yeah definitely would love to see more Lore dealing with all the other races in the game as well I just want it all to be as captivating as the hive. Would love to know more about the vex and how they came to be. Or the Fallen and there time with the Great Machine aka the traveler, or what the hell happened to Quaria after he was given as a gift to Savathun when he was defeated by Oryx. Hell even the Shadows of Yor and Shin Malphor. Lots of potential and I just want to digest it all.
Thom Gier Actually Xivu Arath might be dead, after the war she left her siblings because she felt Oryx had gained too much power and went into a black hole saying it would make her stronger...I think she ded
Mara Sov is coming back only in Destiny 3. I think one of the developers said it in a video, kinda as a joke I guess? but he said something like "we're going to be seeing destiny 3 in 2020 and people will be like 'woah thats mara sov from D1" or something like that. I'm expecting Savathun to be the main badie for D2. Being cunning she is likely behind Gaul's attack on the last city and likely Xol's awakening? And maybe even Prince Uldren insurrection.
I love the idea of Savathun having influence in the Dreaming City, especially after her being hinted at throughout D2 and Warmind, but I doubt and seriously hope against her being the main Raid Boss. As you said, the groundwork is laid for her to have her own “Taken Queen” DLC and return to the Dreadnaught, and as a huge Hive fan, I really hope this is the case. Although, I would love to see an Ahamkara, possibly even a Taken one, or even something like one of her offspring if she had any, as we’ve fought all of Oryx’s now, and she could very well have Deathsinger daughters as well.
I think that the Hive Wizard is a member of Savathun's Court (a.k.a The High Coven) hence why she has three ascendant knights protecting her. Overall I still think Savathun is the one pulling the strings of the true villain, using them as a proxy in order to weaken the Reef born awoken to the point that they cannot assist the Vanguard in a meaningful way, just as I think she used Nokris and Xol as a proxy in order to try and destroy Rasputin for the very same reason. One question I do have is how Osiris will fit into the overall story of Destiny 2 since it was stated he still has a role to play within the overall story arc of Destiny 2. My initial guess is that he will be instrumental in preventing the now Taken Quria; Blade Transformed from trying to seize control of the Vex on behalf of its mistress, this is however just simple speculation.
B Moo Why not? In the books of Sorrow Savathun was reknown for using others to do her dirty work since it was her nature to be cunning. She definitely was assisting Nokris on Mars because several Hive champions show allegiance to her in Warmind.
My personal theory might seem very very radical but I think it's grounded in some evidence. In the Dreaming City trailer, Petra says that it's a massive creature; the one dev commenting on Patrick's butt tattoo said that "she" is "pretty"; game informer describing the cause of the taken invasion to be a metaphorical dragon; and trailer breakdowns showed that when it talks about the raid at the core of the dreaming city, in the yellow/orange ball thing, you can see a serpent like creature. My theory is that this massive creature is indeed going to be an Ahamkara. A female one at that. The word "pretty" doesn't have to necessarily mean a pretty humanoid. It could be used to describe something angelic, something like a wish dragon. The serpent imagery in many of the dreaming city stills also hints at this being a type of dragon known as a quetzcotl (not the prehistoric dinosaur). It's basically a flying. snake. In the warmind expansion, we saw a wormgod and hints point to wormgods and Ahamkara being majorly related. I dont think it's a coincidence that xol was shown as a massive snake with mandibles. There are a couple reasons that make me think that's this isn't just another wormgod. 1) It would be kind of weird and maybe dumb if we defeated a wormgod in warmind as part of the story/strike and now they dedicate a whole raid to it. It would also be weird seeing another wormgod again so soon. 2) The wormgods haven't been shown to control the power to take. Only beings like Oryx and Savathun have shown the power to take. /// Therefore, I think an Ahamkara at the center of the city would make sense. Ahamkaras came to the system with the Traveler, and so can be considered somehow related to the light. There have also been hints of surviving Ahamkara in the jovians. Maybe, a long time ago, right after the collapse, the awoken built this city around a captured Ahamkara and that was the source of their power. Now, while messing around with Taken powers, the techeun witches opened the entrance to the ascendand realm and allowed this Ahamkara to be corrupted by taken powers. I am very meh with my lore knowledge and even worse at explaining a theory, so leave a comment if I messed something up. I do think this would be a very cool raid boss and it also fits many of the descriptions given from the various sources so far.
Byf calling Oryx, our biggest Nemesis of Destiny 1, a "Big Boy" is...something I never would've seen coming but also something I needed so badly without knowing it. On a more serious topic: How awesome (but maybe unlikely) would it be if that big final boss was a taken Quria Blade Transform, confirming Savathun to be kinda involved without being physically there. For she is the goddess of trickery, a puppet master acting in the shadows.
I've never referred to Quria as a female. The "she" is meant for Savathun. What I meant with my comment was that it wouldn't make sense if we saw Savathun in the Dreaming City, but a right hand of her is quite possible. And therefore Quria would be a rather good choice, because it is well known to be owned by her.
Have you played Destiny before? Literally everything in the eververse can be bought with silver dust, earned in engrams, or completely cosmetic. If your talking about armor, I have the full set for my hunter and titan, because I actually play the game and earn my loot.
There’s still so much to be understood and discovered in the destiny universe, I hope there’s a lot more smaller quests and stuff released between dlc’s that can give us a little glimpse at savathun (if she’s not the raid boss) ahamkara (if not the raid boss) and toland and shin malphur and dredgen yor and all the other key lore figures that we haven’t seen or heard anything of yet.
I think she's involved, but I don't believe she's even close to the Reef or Dreaming City. They've setup (like you said) going back to the Dreadnaught, and with them releasing area's a bit quicker than in D1, I imagine we might get to go to the Arcology on Titan as well, or maybe Saturn.
aryTurns well, what magic does the awoken use? Isn’t it like void or something, and isn’t the Ahamkara a void magic user? Or am I wrong, I don’t know much about this, but possibly the raid boss could be Mara Sov WITH an Ahamkara Dragon giving her magic powers and strength
Warrior156 i have no idea, the only “Awoken” (even then I don’t quite think they are apart of the human race) the Techeuns as mentioned appear half taken. Ahamkara are only currently talked about in lore. That’s actually a topic I haven’t looked too much into but I can’t imagine without actually fighting one we know what type of element it deals, and even if they all share the same elemental damage.
aryTurns then what about Xivu?? D3 will be about the pyramid ships and thats close to the destiny endgame, but I think that Savathûn or Quria will make an appareance in this expansion.
Soo much love for you man keep it up. Im a huge lore nerd and your is my top one. Your theories are intelligent and rooted in at least some fashion. Please keep it up
Hold on. Savathun is the only one left that's been teased in the vanilla game except for the fifth race/pyramid ship race that hasn't shown up yet. Osiris has. The Warnind has. Why is it unlikely that it's Savathun? Clearly the Techeuns are dabbling with Taken energy, who else would it be linked to? And narratively speaking, do you think Bungie will do a Taken story then follow it up with a Hive (presumably also Taken) story about Savathun being the next Taken Queen? Unless they're pulling a Crota-Oryx situation I don't see why you wouldn't expect Savathun.
No go watch the final cutscene again, after the reef it goe over Oryx's dreadnaught in Saturn's rings, and then a couple shots of empty space, followed lastly by the Pyramid ships. It would make much much more sense if Savathun was the main antagonist of the next expansion on the Dreadnaught, because if she was big in forsaken then who else would be in the Dreadnaught? I actually had a theory that the three mini-expansions in the Annual Pass would be one for fallen/scorn, one for cabal and one for vex, then Dreadnaught DLC rolls around so at the end of D2 we've had two stories for each race (D2 base campaign for 1st cabal story) and then Destiny 3 will come around with those Pyramid ships as the Darkness
This is all just speculation at this point. What I’m trying to say however is that oryx appears numerous times to fight us before we reach him so it would be a let down to not do the same with savathun. Plus we don’t know everything about savathun so i think bungie would give her a dlc by herself.
I feel like Savathun woukd seriously fuck with us. Mentally, structurally, emotionally, like do the full Loki. Plots within plots, meanwhile devastating you and leading you away from her main objective... The real question is... Is she even hive or taken anymore? She DID enter the gift mast and separate from her siblings to change.
@Christopher Palmer bahahaha YES!! As soon as he said "Savathun is more hype than that", I was like bro I think you're forgetting a certain hive worm god.
If it was Mara Sov, it makes sense on the evolution of enemies front. If you look at the Taken King cutscene, Mara is surrounded by her Techeuns, and as we obviously know she is "advised" by them. If they were experimenting with taken energy, who better to be at the centre of that experiment than Mara. Perhaps the Taken experimentation was something aimed at making the awoken more powerful. As we can see from the new trailer, the Techeuns are slightly corrupted. This could be intentional, as the part taken is the part used to help summon the harbingers. Unlike the Techeuns, when Mara summons the weapon her whole power is drained causing her to faint. It may be that her power manifests in her whole body. Therefore taken tampering to make the awoken more powerful would need to completely consume Mara, rather than just her arms. The evil at the core of the Dreaming City could be a throne room or shrine etc. where the fully Taken Mara waits. This theory could also explain other things in the lore. Mara's disappearance would be due to experimentation. If the Dreaming City is a religious or higher society area, it makes sense that the Techeuns and Mara would go there to experiment, rather than use areas of the reef where there are those that may oppose the idea. Their experiments could have gone wrong or right, depending on how you look at it, causing the Ascendant realm in the city to be revealed/created. Perhaps Uldren opposed his sister's plans, or believes it's our fault for causing it to happen, either way he is using the fallen house he overtook to seek revenge on those who caused Mara to be changed. He may be seeking out guardians who had a hand in the Taken War and members of the reef who didn't stop Mara. Other things can be explained with this albeit somewhat of a stretch. For example the emissary of the nine talks about the brother and sister. Perhaps this is something to do the Taken power Mara has, allowing her to have some sort of projections, like Oryx, even if it is just thoughts or words. Anyway, this is just a theory I had, which could easily be wrong and proven so soon, but if you do want to point out any mistakes or add to my theory, please do. I am happy to read anyone else's ideas if you would like to contribute.
The harbingers were used at the battle of Cerys during the reef wars and the taken didn’t arrive in the Sol system until taken king. So unless the awoken somehow had access to taken energy before then I find your theory highly unlikely. The harbingers are assumed to be extremely powerful psionic projections created by the techuns and focused through Mara. Keep in mind that awoken on their own seem to have some form of innate psionic capability as both of Uldren’s grimore cards have him searching for Mara’s “pull” with his mind.
William Sander I never said that the Taken energy is what gives the Techeuns the power to summon the harbingers, I am saying that the Taken experimentation could be a way to enhance their power. After all, they did little damage to the dreadnaught in comparison to other uses. As for the psionic abilities, I know they have an innate ability to do this, but I was suggesting taken energy may enhance their abilities. Thanks for the feed back though.
Loved it! No Savathun, but definitely mara sov at some point seeing how they teased the techeun. Who knows what's in store, all I know is that I'm stoked. See you guys out there
I hope Oryx isn't dead, he was the best villian We ever had, he is also the most badass character, also he is a GOD, he should survive 6 guardians shooting bullets at him
Also: it would suck from a storytelling standpoint to bring back one of the previous major antagonists, resurrected even though we killed him twice, and exterminated his surviving echoes. That’s just lazy writing
We killed his body in throne world but we have his soul, its in da gun that is killing me cuz i cant remember its name. The raid gun that hurts u. His soul is in that. I feel so bad i cant remember that name
Here’s my two cents: The final raid boss will be a female Ahamkara. The Keep of Voices is clearly in reference to the classic whispers that the bones of Ahamkara tend to be associated with. Only the highest of Awoken officials knew of the existence of the endangered Ahamkara within the City. Uldren, after the battle of Saturn, retreated back to Keep to request the aid of the Ahamkara, a wish dragon. In return for granting his wish, the Ahamkara in return requested that he build an army to be at her disposal to enact revenge on us Guardians who have slaughtered her kind and to conquer and hold planets as theirs. The Ahamkara told Uldren of what dark deeds we did and convinced him almost that the Guardians were evil. Whilst breaking the Barons out of jail, he does encounter Cayde and us. Though he still believed Guardians were to be considered on “the wrong side”, he must acknowledge that our guardian and Cayde helped out the Awoken in their times of need. Cayde though was at the wrong place and time, so he killed him but spared our guardian. He then says the line from the trailers to our Guardian, clearly not wanting to hurt him as he then escapes with the Barons. The wish that Uldren asked the Ahamkara for was obvious as well, if my theory is correct: Bring his sister back to him.
I've had this theory myself ever since they name dropped the Temple of Whispers a couple weeks back. Except I think it's possibly an Ahamkara that has Taken Sickness similar to dragon sickness from Tolkien Lore. Basically a dark magic grows on a treasure hoard upon which a great dragon has long slumbered. But in this case maybe the Taken Techeun's may have brought a taken artifact to the dreaming city and infected the Ahamkara with it. So maybe at the end of the raid we cleanse the Dragon and they grant us wishes and possibly the raid vendor. We bring Dreams to her and she rewards us in exchange. I hope if they introduce an Ahamkara that they are our ally similar to how Emporer Calus is our ally.
Malefic we don’t know if he’s dead, and xol was the weakest, and Rasputin was a literal god too, he was probably just as powerful as Xol, combined with our light power, and we are able to defeat him, but I don’t think we were able to kill him
Warrior156 Xol isn’t even dead though. We killed the physical version of him that will be back in like, 20 years or so, but not the Ascendant Version, and if my understanding is correct, which it might not be to be fair, he has an ascendant version that is going to be much more powerful, same as Nokris
Nightgazer57 Even so, we met him in a super casual way and he's a God. Something worthy of a raid or more exploration. I'm hoping people don't think too much into it or risk getting disappointed again.
Xol is dead guys. He followed the same route as Crota and Oryx becoming the Whisper of the Worm. The lore tab shows this but the only difference is that Xol seems to have done so willingly without us needing to actually fight him in a throne world instead leaving it to the bosses we fight in the Whisper mission as a means to prove our worth. Nokris however... Well that’s a story for another day
Before I even watch this video. Byf, please. How hyped were you to see a damned half taken Techeun. I saw your tweet bro about loot and lore. I'm equally excited for both.
Since the Wizard character seems to be confronting us non-violently, what would you say the chances are that it is Taox? May be our source of insight into Savathun and a co-conspirator in our removal of the Taken Queen.
The point about “an enormous creature” really makes me think an Ahamkara is at the center of it. The quote doesn’t necessarily imply that the creature is an enemy, just a resident. That quote could be entirely separate from the final boss, which I believe will be a Taken Mara sov which would be a play on the community’s use of the Taken Queen.
Wait... Was my man Byf, who is a KNOWN Warlock main, just show gameplay as a Titan?! TRIGGERED!! TRIGGERED!! (JK love you Byf, your lore knowledge and silky smooth tones keep me alive) EDIT: OMFT (oh my effing Traveler) Byf liked my comment! DOPE AS HELL!!!
In the first person view, when you pause it, Toland is speaking to us. The question of Savathun's relation to all this is therefore all the more mysterious; however, I still don't believe she will be that major yet. The last time we heard of Toland it was during the subclass quests. I still poses the question of what's really going on. Anyways, the only person I have seen referencing this is one of the youtuber Destiny Guide's latest videos. My Name Is Byf, you should check it out. Great vids btw!
How tf is Savathun the strongest? In the BoS XXII Xivu Arath says, "War is mine and I am strongest." Savathun may be the most cunning, but strong on the level of Oryx? We're just gonna act like the 3rd sister, with the essence of STRENGTH as her morph, just doesn't exist?
Oryx became the most powerful due to his wisdom. Xivu's as dumb as a box of rocks, Savathun would be the next in line because she's the smarter of the two.
Byf, look at The Coven grimoire. Illyn, the coven's mother, is said to have a secret plan (possibly even secret from the Queen, as "Techeuns do not share their eyes with others") and is described as seeing places only the Queen can go. Think it's possible that she saw said creature (possibly an Ahamkara kept by the Queen as some theories say), and wants it's power for herself? It could further explain the Taken Techs' presence and fits the "she's too pretty" comment.
It’s the queen there’s been hints and it makes sense being that Uldron is very crucial to the plot, also the fact that basically the trailer showed that the Awoken power is connected to the taken and the descriptions point to some curse related to the awoken so that being said it’s highly likely that the queen is the raid boss who is suffering from the “curse” which is the source of the awoken power, it would also serve as a perfect way to bring her back and that also connects very well with the scourn who have a barren with ties to the ascendant realm and that the scourn are a cult at heart which is why Uldron would side with them because they have a better chance at helping him get his sister back and in return he will let them obtain the awoken/taken power
Mr. WolfyWP nah, Mara was born as an awoken and I don't get why people say that she is Savathûn or an Ahamkara. The Ahamkara and Savathûn are different beings, maybe they can change forms, posing as Mara or can control her. But they are not the same characters, remember that.
Hey I just started playing Destiny 2 about a month ago and I played Destiny 1 this has been a great way to catch up on the lore from between them. Wondering if you plan on making a massive Destiny playlist with just all you Destiny lore videos.
A few seconds after Petra says “an immense creature” we see a orangey glass floor and if you look close enough under you can see what appears to be a MASSIVE SERPENT under that glass floor. Also in other parts of the trailer you can find logos of a snake or sometimes a twoheaded snake in a sideways figure-eight. Just something I wanted to point out.
I'm really liking the idea of an Ahamkara at the centre of the City. I may be reading too much into it, but I think that the inclusion of the *bow*, of all weapons, suggests as much. They could have reintroduced LMG's, added 'primary' melee weapons - but instead, they chose to introduce Bows. Bows being traditionally used for hunting, may have been the 'tool of the trade' for the Great Hunt - and the name of "The "Wish Ender" certainly rings clear to the Ahamkara (Wish Dragons)
Friend of mine had the idea that Oryx was the one controlling Uldren (hence the taken corruption stuff) and suggested that we fight a sort of zombified body of Oryx or an illusion or something as maybe one of the bosses in the next raid. Pretty far fetched I know, but just the idea of Oryx coming back as a surprise for an encounter sounds like a lot of fun.
I really hope we return to the Dreadnaught later against either Savathun or Xivu Arath. It just seems to me to be one of the most significant places in the universe to me. A God's flagship, where the God fell, which now lingers dead above Saturn, full of mysteries, secrets and power no less. Plus, Oryx was freaking cool and I want to see more of a legacy for him.
Remember the Io premeditation where you had to fight the Spawn of Qui'ra, the Beloved of Qui'ra, and the Tongue of Qui'ra? Maybe it's that thing, Qui'ra. Or maybe Xivu Arath, the other sister of Oryx
I think the raid boss should be an ahemkara because in lore tabs it says the ahemkara call out to you. You may remember in an article about forsaken, uldren hears a strange voice calling from the keep of voices. They can grow to an immense size. This may also explain why the hive are there. But getting into a bit more lore, it says some may have survived as far out as Jupiter, so maybe the awoken locked it up and have used it for the magical abilities it possesses. Just a theory
I have to say that its pretty hard to come up with a good theory that explains the involvement of the many pieces at work. - first is savathuns involvment and goals in this scheme? -second is savathuns interest in the barrons. - third is Uldrens decision to target and kill cayde hence creating an enemy out of the guardians. - forth is how Mara Sov ties into the story line. - fifth the boss within the dreaming city. - sixth and most importantly is how exactly is resputin going to respond. I think that Savathun has actually been allowing the tecons to use the taken energy without them even realising that they aren't in control of this power and through this power they attempt to to resurrect an ahamkara with the intention of using the ahamkara to bring back Mara Sov. - now the question that could be asked is why not simply use the taken power to revive Mara Sov. The answer to this is cunning Savathun will fill the minds of the tecons with doubts, making them think that the taken power might change Mara Sov. Continuing as we know the wish granted by an ahamkara comes with a heavy price and Savathun will use the "now taken ahamakara" to barter a deal with Uldren in which he will have to free the seven barrons that are imprisoned. Remember that its most likely that Savathun knows about the barrons because of the eight barron that escaped and now has its own throne world and hive prowess. The next question that should be asked is why would Uldren kill Cayde which he certainly knows makes us his enemy. The reason is because Cayde is responsible for the barrons imprisonment and Uldren helped in their imprisonment, therefore the only way Uldren can guarantee his survival is by killing Cayde who defeated the barrons and by doing this he also guarantees their loyalties. Also in doing so he will fulfil his promise to the ahamakara and Mara Sov shall be reborn. The next question that should be asked is why would Savathun want these barrons freed. The barrons together lead by the frantic will be a force to be reckoned with and most likely will be beyond our abilities to deal with alone therfore this will trigger Resputin to get involved and deal with the threat of the barrons. With Resputin taking an active role Savathun will be able better understand Resputin. Now why would Savathun want to understand Resputin. The answer is simple Savathun is cunning so that means that she is smart, and smart enough to know when something is a threat, because Resputin is such a threat she must first understand Resputin in order to conquer him, and by seeing Resputins retaliation his abilities will become if only a little clearer to her.
The Ascendant hive Wizard May be a potential ally; notice how the knights don’t immediately attack when seeing the player and the wizard herself has her back to the player. She may be teaming up with the player to kill the hive-baron.
Just thought I’d let you know @MynameisByf this was put up about an hour ago and you’re almost @7k views. I remember when I’d be in the first thousand or so to see it in an hour.
17:00 Or you could have another raid-lair scenario like with Calus. We may find out that it's actually not Savathun, but rather an echo/shade/whatever. Then, we get to go back to the dreaming city again and again for different versions of the same raid. It also offers the promise that eventually we will get to for reals battle Savathun just like Calus.
Just want to throw it out there that the Whish-Ender bow is obviously connected to the dreaming city( statue on the bow is seen all throughout the trailer), and the perk on it is called “Queens Wrath”. So the Queen is definitely connected to the dreaming city.
Byf I'm not sure if you're aware but Game Informer leaked the involvement of Toland in this expansion via a gif on their article on the Ascendant Realm in which you can see Toland The Shattered via the Ghost's comms.
I have a feeling that like in the base game and in Warmind we’ll get mentions of Savathun. Also I believe that Wizard is probably an important Wizard in Savathun’s court
So do y'all remember the Black heart at the center of the Black Garden? That thing looked pretty taken, and could be called a "huge creature". It seems like a long shot, but we never really got resolved on that.
I think that Uldren is the main antagonist of the tangled shore campaign and this story seeps into the dreaming city's campaign which has a different antagonist.
I think that there is at least a possibility lore-wise that Oryx could come back for the Dreadnought expansion, assuming Savathun can accomplish a powerful act of knowledge/learning, which may be what is going on in the Dreaming City. Both Savathun and Xivu Arath were brought back by their aspects following a true death, so feasibly Oryx could as well hence the return to Saturn.
Would love to see a previously in D2- The story so far For a more lore focused retelling of the game (before Forsaken if you have the time and will for it) Keep up the good work!
Not sure if u know this but if u hang around Ana Bray, she said something about her having a fireteam called the nightwolves and how she became a lone wolf
Savathun deserves her own expansion as she is a big boss like Oryx. Don’t forget Bungie said there’s going to more encounters than they have ever done before. The final raid boss is probably Worm god
Héctor Cabrera Negrín and the picture shows Ghosts, so they had some idea of what they wanted. Despite there being no guns present, it is still a very sci fi picture. One more thing, that helmet looks way to much like the Ahamkara in that concept to not have something to do with it
Just some thoughts: 1.) The Witch in the beginning; Possibly a child of Savathun. Oryx has several children; so it's not unlikely. 2.) The Taken presence in the reef; Either a gathering of Savathun's army, or just taken species who became Taken due to the Techeuns. 3.) The Techeuns; Possibly an example of a hybrid of light and darkness. Would then explain how they could possess the ability to take other species. 4.) The Core of the City; I believe it's the Xivu Arath. Xivu Arath is the only Female Knight in existence. Which meets that category of the boss being female. She left Oryx due to how he constrained her too much. So it would make sense that she would seek the light of the Traveler, as it both: Took her away from her brother, and also allowed her worm to feed. This leads us to the Dreaming City. One of the many homes of the Awoken. The Awoken species are interesting; they possess powers that their human predecessors lack. I have theories of their creation (I think Savathun is involved...dont @me), however; they were born during the collapse. In my mind, it would make sense that Xivu Arath would be using the Awoken to feed; as it would appear that the game is suggesting that they're hybrids of sorts. Which in my mind means they would be powerful, and would feed Xivu quite well. 5.) These notes are al of the place, but consider it a ramble that may hold something useful.
While Savathûn or an Ahamkara seem to be the most likely main raid villain there is someone else that could also be the villain. Quria. We know that Quria is a Vex mind which Oryx gave to his sister for her to use and experiment. We also know that while captured it still has a will of its own and somehow has it’s own Taken minions such as Ir Arok, Tongue of Quria. With this, I think that it is possible that the Taken infestation could be caused by Quria maybe under the command of Savathûn. Also, Petra could be calling Quria a creature because of the amount of damage it’s doing to the city and the she comment that Joe Blackburn said could be something like how people sometimes refer to their cars as a she. Plus the word “Quria” could be derived from the Greek word Kyría which means lady. Personally I still think the raid boss is probably gonna be something like a Taken Ahamkara but meeting Quria would be cool too.
Savathun always has agents everywhere, so we will see more of them there. I think a more fitting setting for her would be on the Dreadnought. Though upon reading on some of Savathun's lore, I can't help but wonder where Xi Ro (Xivu Arath) is in all of this. I mean it's said she took off, being stifled by Oryx, but hearing news of Oryx's death, would she too feel the need to see what Guardians are made of just like Savathun?
I think Savathun is coming in Y3 of D2, seeing as the final expansion from the Annual Pass is Penumbra, literally meaning Before Darkness or Close to Darkness, and if Savathun communed with the deep, she may have friends in higher places.
