Destiny 2 Lore - Eramis's plans have failed. So what happens to her now? The future of the Fallen? 

The final lore tab was honestly really sad. Eramis can see the future she’s been fighting for for centuries; it’s right there, but she’s convinced herself she can’t be apart of it because of how she’s bloodied her hands trying to create that future. I know she’s still a villain but seeing her give up everything she’s ever wanted because she doesn’t think she deserves it is sort of heartbreaking

I gotta say, Drifter has further cemented his role as my favourite character this season. I've always loved his characterization, but being able to see him loosen up and show a less jaded side has been really nice.

Eramis's story is so horrifically sad and I'm really glad this season better expanded upon the seeds planted in Beyond Light's lore tabs. I hope there is some future for Eramis (considering House Light already finds a number of Eliksni with equally terrible pasts hiding under its banners) but even if she's right and there is no hope for a new Riis that she can be a part of, I'm glad the tragedy of her as an antagonist has been so much better defined before her eventual downfall.

I'm predicting Eramis returns later on the side of the Witness, but during some crucial moment, she hesitates on an order on account of Eido, and betrays the Witness. Insert line about "There's a brighter future for the Eliksni. I cannot be a part of it, but I can help create it."

I believe it’s likely that the Witness chose Eramis to retrieve the relics of Nezarec not because of her pirate history…but because of the deep pain she harbors. The same pain that has both blinded and driven her. We know that the Lunar Pyramid was the source of the Nightmares, and that it belonged (and perhaps still does belong to Nezarec.) A being described as “the final god of pain.” It seems like Nezarec’s spirit or power is drawn to pain. Not just any pain, but the deep, lingering, and existential kind. It’s why perhaps he allowed Mithrax’s mother to board his Pyramid and butcher his corpse, yet never invited the Hive in. The Whirlwind and it’s aftermath was more fresh then ever, especially with the Traveler having a found a new race to be with. Think about the desperate rage, despair, jealousy, and pain those like Mithrax’s mother must of felt. If Nezarec is being drawn to such pain, it would’ve been intoxicating. Such creatures would be a perfect host for his power…and transformation. I suspect The Witness wanted to make sure it’s former Disciple’s power could be placed in a more “controlled” vessel. Because I don’t think Nezarec is on his former master’s side anymore… and I don’t think he’s on ours either.

It would be hella funny if she just freezes again

There was so much to love during the fight scene, the splicer gauntlet blinding her fake eyes, the fact she has the bequest from the dsc and even when both of them put their hands up to stop eido. So good loved that scene so much!

We also learned that Mithrax can use his gauntlet to attack, which is cool.

Seeing Eramis protecting Eido, both by blade and by telling her to stay away for her own good, it really brings another dimension to her character. I always felt like Beyond Light didn't really delve deep enough inter her, but I guess they were saving that for another time. Phenomenal story this season, probably one of my favorites so far.

I feel sad and hopeful for some form of redemption for Eramis. Her dream of a brighter future for the Eliskni may come true but not how she dreamt it would be. I definitely see her sacrificing herself defying the witness to protect the Eliskni and maybe be their first light bearer.

I doubt we're done with Eramis. I feel like we're probably gonna see her again at the end of the season.

imagine the next season "your traveller infected by darkness" where the curse of nezarec is like the curse on the dreaming city and we progressively see it get worse every week leading into lightfall or something. “it drains the life force” like imagine the city is just plagued with the curse and it’s really harming the people of the city. just another way to look at it i guess!

Someone recently said that we can expect first elikani guardian, either mithrax or aido. But personally,( don't point fingers at me) I think it will be eremis. she has both courage and abilities, but is hunted by her past like crow, and what if we take away her memories, even if she knows she lost them, knowing what she went through, she may not want to get them back. Traveler would get a powerful ally and elikani would get a guardian not only as a person welding light, but also a protector, literally guardian.and don't forget that she can use stasis, she would be a valuable force against the Witness.

That duel between Misraaks and Eramis is so symbolic of the Eliksni's current position. The House of Light wants them to finally abandon the brutality that the Whirlwind and the journey to Sol engrained in them, but Misraaks embraces his former nature one last time when he thinks Eido is about to die. Only when he has Eramis at his mercy, Eido reminds him that he is not that brutal pirate lord anymore, and they do not need to kill each other. Eramis is the past, mired in darkness fueled by pain and anger Eido is the future, full of hope and determination And Misraaks is the bridge between them, the proof that the Eliksni can change and finally rebuild

You know what? I want to see Eramis redeemed. So far i find her the most reasonable antagonist we have right now, because all she wants to do is give her people a chance to rebuild. Although i wonder if now eramis will be working alone to fight for the eliksni her own way again, maybe we will end up meeting her and her crew as an ally of convenience against the witness.

It may have been revealed before, and I just didn't read the lore entry or whatever, but for some reason I love the fact that the drifters name is Germaine. Just that little tidbit adds so much to drifter imo.

One thing I kept thinking about during this season whenever Eramis and Eido talked was how Eramis used to be a mother. I felt that especially keenly when Eido said, so kindly, "Come home." Eramis even said as much in the last lore tab.

The story surrounding Eramis always brings me to tears. So tragic, and so beautiful.

I got this mission spoiled mid season and it was really shortlived but the acting is really good. The distress in Mithrax when he said "She is my light!" got me.

One thought that kept coming back to me throughout this season is something that Savavthun has told us: "if we don't understand where we came from, how will we know where to go?" Which does ring very true. The Eliksni do need to remember the whirlwind and what they have become, but the need to move past this dark time for them. Otherwise, they will be stuck in a neverending cycle of violence. They will be stuck in the Whirlwind

I personally think she hasn’t actually failed. The goal was to get all the reliquaries in one place… and we did just that.

There is a way to escape memories and start anew, maybe the first eliksni guardian will not be Eido after all

But have they failed really? What if the witness’s goal was just to have them all in one spot?

I think it's interesting that during their fight, Misraaks used his splicer gauntlet to gain an advantage, but Eramis never used her stasis powers despite still having them, it's interesting how Eramis seems to treat other elixni with respect and honour, it's certainly more than we guardians do.

I know plenty of people were talking about eido or mithrax potentially becoming the first eliksni lightbearer. But with all that’s happened to hint at eramis’ future, she stands as a very likely candidate imo. she has the most to atone for, and ultimately she still has some good in her, after all she defended eido. What better way for her to redeem herself than by leaving behind her past and sacrificing herself for the eliksni’s future that she wishes for, but feels she can’t have? Not sure exactly how it would happen, but I definitely think that it could play out like this in some way.

I feel so... _sorrowful_ for Eramis. Something in her died, she's given up all hope of redemption in spite of it literally begging her to reach out. What's worse is I can't really say it's all the Witness's doing, her entire way of life has slowly eroded and nothing she's tried has worked and now she feels like there's nothing left. If anyone seeing this is feeling something similar reach out to someone you can talk to, things can and will get better. Eyes up.

I'm really glad that Eido and Mithrax survived. I knew Eramis would escape, but I feared for those two the most. On one note, with Eido's offer, part of me hopes Eramis accepts it, even if it means we'd have to keep our eyes on her. But on another note, I really hope this won't be like Saladin's story from Season of the Risen. Saladin spared that girl, but she repaid his mercy with violence and robbery. "Mercy to an enemy can not come at the cost of mercy for their victims.". But that is up to Eramis to decide what she does next. On another note, with Eramis and Mithrax as the last Kells, who had fought in single combat. Mithrax may have spared Eramis, but she fled defeated. If word of this gets out to the remaining Fallen, they may flock to Mithrax. So he can be the Kell of Kells. With both Mithrax and Caitatl, the Cabal and Eliksni's future can come to see a new dawn.

It was a lot of fun this season, more lighthearted compared to last season for sure, but definitely weighty for sure on the story of a faction outside of our own, and I love how Drifter was basically the conduit to it all

Usually those with good intentions don't live long in these kind of setting and those hurt and broken are the ones to continue their legacy. Hope eido lives through this and survives whats to come .

As someone who came back too late to buy season of plunder, thanks a lot Byf. You're like the wise Warlock who is always there and keep us posted about everything in Destiny 2 universe. Your videos are now my favorite to listen to at the end of my workday, it's like listening to a good friend telling old stories.

There are some interesting parallels between Savathun/Sathona and Eramis. We'll just have to see where they go with it.

It’s crazy to me how far this story has come. I remember when all these races were just the bad guys to shoot. Now I’m watching lore videos fully into the idea of redemption for Eramis and Caital is definitely one of my favorites in the game. Not to mention how things played out in the witch queen. And Byf you are the man who puts all the pieces together better then the actual game so thank you!!

So... Eramis is on a... Pathway into Darkness? ...I'll see myself out.

Depending on a few things (such as a possible end of season event and whatever it may be) despite my own gut feeling about it, I could see Eramis sacrificing herself to stop/slow down the Witness when Light Fall comes out.

Can we just stop for a minute and take time to appreciate Mitrax using his Splicer skills like an absolute boss to short out Eramis` visor thus turning the tide? Absolute gangster move.

To be entirely off-the-wall here, this is like a lesson in how generational divides could be mended, in the right circumstances. To compare, Eido is like the Gen Z to Misraaks’ Millennial, and Eramis’s “Boomer,” who both saw their world wrapped in pointless conflict, yet while the former look to the future, the latter is trapped in the past.

"Vengeance is a road without end." - Dream of the Endless If only Eramis could understand that. But I think she is now an unwilling thrall of the Witness and her road only ends with her destruction.

I honestly just assumed Athrys and their hatchlings died in the Whirlwind, but now we know they ended up on a ship and could still be out there. I could see a season(ok, I WANT to see a season) next year with us tentatively teaming up with Eramis after she finds out the Witness has taken the ship they were on captive to try and force Eramis to do the Witness' bidding and she wants none of it since knowing her family is still alive resparks the light in her

I want to see Eido meet Eramis in a neutral place with a smile and Ether. Eramis is not too far gone, she’s as gone as Sasuke was and she can return in the same fashion. A protector. Someone on the fringes protecting and helping to build that ideal of a new home.

Gotta love the character growth from The Drifter. Side note: that “She is my Light” hits different as a parent. Theory: what if Earmis is the one chosen by the Light?

Byf you and your channel are amazing. I had to stop destiny around the season of plunder and finally getting to return to the game. Your channel is helping me understand what is going on and what I missed.

The moment Eido said Eramis' intentions, Misraaks changed tactics. Damaging her vision on the side her weapon was on then disarming her. I love how quickly he adapted to disarm her and the situation.

I hope Eramis does come around and join us. When compared to the other villains we've faced over the years she doesn't actually seem all that evil. She hasn't killed any of our friends, she hasn't killed untold trillions, she never stole our light, she never made us complete millions of glorified public events for a gun, she never forced an endless night on us and she has never given us a legendary from an exotic engram (just to name a few evil things). Even Mithrax seems like he was more of a bastard when he was a pirate. What did she actually do that was anywhere near as bad as the other villains?

"Come home Eramis." My heart broke not gonna lie.....

I think the moment Misraaks spared Eramis can also be explained with the other lore tab that talked about what happened with Spider and Siviks. I think Eramis is right that Ithryks, unlike Misraaks, knew what the whirlwind had done to the Eliksni, but when Misraaks reported to his mother what he had done, his mother realised something that Eramis had also just realised, that clinging on to your past the way they did will poison the Eliksni's future. Damn good writing again! Never thought I'd actually come to like Eramis

I think there is one single piece of important dialogue that you may have missed here, Byf. There is an actual turning point in Eramis' story where she actually starts to listen to what Eido says rather than just writing it off as rhetoric of the Great Machine, which Eramis sees as an enemy. This is when Eido tells her that they aren't subservient to The Great Machine, but instead serve the Light. It may seem like a small thing, but in the mind of Eramis it would make a world of difference in seeing who her enemies are, but you've still done a great job as always, my friend. See you Starside.

I think we’ll eventually get some tragic end for Misraaks and Eramis both, and those would be the catalysts for Eido to become Kell of Kells. I don’t know that we’d see Eliksni as large as Taniks by that point though, as there might be Eliksni guardians by that point, and they wouldn’t need Ether. (Side note: They’d also be in a weird position though; if an Eliksni is docked, would the ghost be able to restore them to having all four arms? Would further grown “Captain” Eliksni be reverted to their “Dreg” size but retain arms?) I’d love to see a storyline where Eramis, Misraaks, and Eido become the “Eliksni Vanguard”. Especially given that each seem to cover a gamut of the old Guardian Vanguard.

Can we talk about how unwise keeping the parts of a disciple right next to a room full of egrogor?

Like ive been saying ever since we met eramis and learned her story, she is going to have a redemption arch. To say she is evil would be extremely short sighted. Eido is the key. Eido will bring her back. I for one ,even after everything she has done , will welcome her. There is always room for redemption. Eramis come home.

The more we have Eliksni focused seasons, the more I genuinely think they are simply the best enemy species. I think the Cabal got pretty close with Caiatl, but there's no other enemy race that I can, as a normal person, understand and empathize with why they do what they do. The Hive are cultists to death and slaughter, they are basically right out of Warhammer. The Cabal are a huge empire, and while it makes sense and hits closer to home, it's still quite a strange thing to me, to have that sort of militaristic nationalism. The Scorn are basically undead puppets, needing to follow a master with purpose. And the Vex are just weird, so, so they clearly don't count. The Eliksni though...they were once great, their society collapsed and have now arrived here, turned pirate scavengers, to either reclaim what was theirs, or to destroy it in retalliation. In a way, I can...imagine a civilian Eliksni, and a Cabal one as well, even if it is farther away from my reality. But the Hive or Scorn? Nah. The Vex? Even worse. So yeah, all hail the Eliksni I guess.

I believe that one day Eramis will realise that she is not bound to serve The Witness, that she can make a choice that takes her away from the path she thinks she's bound to.

Maybe during the ritual to recombine nezurek something goes wrong and it puts Eido at risk and Eramis puts herself between the danger and Eido and dies in the process. Cementing herself as a hero and maybe gets revived as a guardian for her sacrifice to protect a future she can’t ever really be apart of. Great way to bring her into the future where the whirlwind has no hold on her anymore

I'll be honest, I really liked the fight between Erimiskel, and Mithraxkel. I thought that it was a battle of honor, and was very fair, except for Mithraxkel using his Splicer gauntlet to impair Erimiskel, and gain the upper hand. I also found it very interesting that when Eido came to stop the fight after Mithraxkel had Erimiskel beat, they both raised a hand to keep her back. In that moment, even without the lore tab, you could tell they both thought of Eido the same way. It truly is sad that Erimiskel won't be able to abandon her ways...even a murderous Kell such as the one that once lead...House Devil's? The one that went to Old Chicago, and committed those horrible acts...he is fighting for redemption within House Light, wishing to leave that past behind them

We were all certain that Eido was going to die and somehow become revived as the first Eliksni Guardian, but now I'm more convinced than ever that it'll actually be Eramis who fulfills that role. Not now, but eventually. We'll have another Crow on our hands, but with much wider implications. And as for the other implications of this season, don't think we forgot that all seven "Dragon Balls" are now in one convenient place. Which I'm absolutely certain is what the Witness really wanted all along. Now we just need someone to wake this evil Shenron up...

Loved the fact that Eramis was wielding the Deep stone crypt sword

Eido has a lot of guardian potential if we’re to ever see the Eliksni be chosen by the light and give ghosts of their own. She’s a fascinating character, always loved the optimistic youth that paves the way to a new age. Eramis is also giving off some death flags, but I do see her redeeming herself later in the story before she inevitably sacrifices herself. Who knows though, it’s difficult to call these things out before it gets there

Kinda surprised that Variks had no input during this season like I wanted to see his reaction seeing Eramis escape from stasis after getting lunch or something Lmao 😂😂

I feel like the Witness just planted a Trojan Horse. We have the relics all in one spot. Can’t wait for the start of a new season where he recombobulates from the the eight relics and pops out like a jack in the box wondering his armor, helmet, and glaive are. lol

If Eido believes that all Eliksni deserve a second chance of peace then I wonder how she views the Scorn. Speaking of, I wonder what Fikrul's up to nowadays.

I don't see Eido becoming the kell of kells, I see her becoming something like the speaker but with actual light priest powers and mithrax as the kell of kells. It would just be too weird to have such an overall small character become the literal jesus of the fallen. whereas mithrax has gone through a lot seeking redemption, forming the house of light, and making the first eliksni x guardian alliance.

I hope we don't see an Eramis heroic sacrifice just because I'm not huge on the Redemption Equals Death trope in fiction. I'd like to see her try to slowly make something of herself and her redemption. Especially given her hatred of guardians, seeing that change slowly overtime could be interesting. If Eramis does not see redemption for herself though, I wonder what that will mean for House Salvation. To be an entire House led by someone who is becoming so conflicted. Kinda hope we see less and less encounters against House Salvation as a result. Feels pretty brutal to keep cutting them down by the dozens after their leader has been getting some character development.

Loremaster Byf, if you could do a video detailing the lore entries for weeks 5 & 6 of Between Stolen Stars, and another that finishes the Above All Else book, that'd be greatly appreciated.

"I see now that I was wrong, but I've travelled so far down the path of violence, it's too late for my redemption" is a refrain we keep hearing - from Saint-14, from Misraaks, from Crow, from Savathûn, and now from Eramis. I'm eager for her to learn, as the others, that though one's past can never be undone, it's never too late to change one's future. An alliance between the Houses of Light and Salvation would make a formidable opposition to the forces of the Witness.

That " Come Home, Eramis. " made me cry

Im becoming more convinced Eramis is gonna bite the dust and become our first Eliksni Guardian

Eramis is likely the best candidate for the first Eliksni Lightbearer, not Eido. A common thread tying all guardians we have seen come back is that none of them were good people, in fact they were all villains. I conjecture that I've had for some time now is that ghosts do not choose guardians based on their innate goodness, but rather, they are in fact selected based on their misdeeds, their penchant for violence and willingness to go to any lengths to win. Because if you strip identity from those people, but not their core attributes, you've given a villain a literal second chance, an opportunity for redemption. Eramis stripped of identity and memory would make an excellent guardian and an excellent 2nd chance story reflective of Crow's journey, Eido would not.

I love that we’re starting to see drifters good side

I hope that the dungeon next season is in europa and it uses that section of the fallen city in most northern part of the map, there is only 1 maybe 2 quest there I believe but it's also one of most thought put and filled area of europa , it feels like your trekking thru these skybox ghettos and you fight the mini boss of some fallen that is trying to replace Eramis and start where she left off. I think europa is a good location for us to get something new in

I love Eido, and hope she becomes a character we interact with on the reg. I'd rather visit Eido than Spider.

I hope you’ll do a lore video going over the Lucent brood’s plan for the relics of Nezerac

The big worrying thing about all this is the Nezarec relics. They're all in a single place now, mere yards away from the Crown of Sorrow, the one thing that allowed Calus to commune with the Witness in the first place. And we don't know what the next season will be, so who knows what else will be in the HELM with these other things. And even despite all of the precautions and knowledge of what they could do and the danger they possess, Misraaks and Eido are still planning on figuring out a way to harness their power. And now that Eramis is more or less out of the way, the Witness is going to take action towards the relics. And with Lightfall's story being Calus's ascension to Disciple, something big is going to happen with any of the dark objects we have to speed it along.

I've said this before, but I'm _really_ curious about the whereabouts of Eramis' wife and children, what they're doing now, and the possibilities of what could happen (or be happening) to them while Eramis is here trying to save her race

The logical (and honestly, quite cliche) outcome would be that She'll join us in the end, as Savathun probably will also, and we all will have an "Endgame" battle... I wish it's not like this, this story by itself is actually good, and the global plot deserves a more nuanced finale.

"The King of the Pirates is the one who is most free!" "Where did you hear that, Drifter?" "Eh, read it in a book about a guy with a straw hat."

Eremis may yet play a role in the Eliksni's present, and future. Redemption comes in many ways

I don't know... I still feel Misraaks becomes Kell of Kells by being granted the Light (if that prophecy is to be believed), if only because if that *were* to happen, Misraaks would lose all memories of his previous life... And no offense to The Young Wolf, but I don't think we have a handle on Deepsight enough to bring those back (ah la Savathun on Crow/Uldren). And House Light needs to still have a Kell. Me personally? I believe there is gonna come a time (Lightfall maybe) where Eido's life is in severe danger and Eremis tries to pull a 'Big Damn Hero Moment,' and save her, stating, some such spiel, along the lines of, "The Eliksni future belongs with you. I can't view it myself, I've too much blood on these hands (claws?). But! I can guide you towards it." Only for*her* to be saved by Misraaks, in his *own* 'Big Damn Hero Moment,' this one of forgiveness and thankfulness for saving Eido this season, similar to the manner of Sasuke protecting Naruto, "My body just moved on it's own," B.S. Then we Guardians, save the day. Truely defeat Calus this time. And at the end we have a funeral procession for Misraaks in the City (if Bungie really wants a massive tearjerker moment, they'll do something like show all the allied races at the Memorial Service, Eliskni, Cabal, Awoken, Guardian, and even the People of the Last City, crying.) At the end you just have Eremis looking at the Bariul Shroud, contemplating her place now, (Think, Vegeta at Goku's Second Death at the hands of Cell). Spider lays a hand on her shoulder as a show of support for the death of his adopted brother. and together they mourn. All of a sudden there is a small whirring sound, and with a start they look up to see a Ghost do the Res Dance, and with a flash of Light, a new Lightbearer jolts upwards, causing the Awoken Cloth to fall, and we get a face shot of a ressurected Eliskni (similar in style to Crow's Second Birth!) Then the remaining seasons is Eido leading House Light as it's newly crowned Kell, being mentored by Eremis, while keeping an Eye on Rikis (Spider), and trying to help us guide the E.L. (Eliskni Lightbearer)along as a Guardian, and teaching him the history of their people, which Eremis, as the oldest of the House Light (excluding Namrask possibly), also assists, as she, in turn, becomes the new Scribe.

You know what Id love to see. A scene with Eramis rejecting the witness only for it to kill her in retaliation. But she doesnt stay dead as a ghost comes down from the traveler and resurrects her as the first Eliksni Guardian

I feel like the Eliksni refugees and Mythrax make the seasons where they appear in one of the best content we got so far

Could be that the Curse of Nezarec allows you to trade a life for a life. Restore someone else, in exchange for yourself. Saint's prescence in this seasons story has been a little odd, so I suspect reviving Osiris will be the ultimate use of these relics. We can tell that Mithrax intends to sacrifice himself to use them. Perhaps Eramis will step in and take his place?

Eramis might not see a future for herself, but she sure as shit won’t let the Witness steal Eido’s out from under her either. When it’s time for The Coalition to have one final rumble with the boys, I have a feeling we’ll know where we to find some extra ships.

Eramis’ plan didnt fail. There was a significant lack of air miss fighting back, so it’s a possibility that she just let us take it. Because the relics are now right where she want them to be at; with Mithrax and Eido

The greatest way for Nez to come back would be for his essence coming whole with everything collected and then using Savathun's corpse as it's host.

I would like for Eido to become Uncontested leader of All Eliksni and for Mithrax to be granted the power of the light somehow. Tho Its more likely if anyone was to become an Eliksni Guardian it would be Eramis after some kind of Sacrifice that saves either Eido and/Mithrax or even the entire Eliksni Quarter erasing her memory of the Whirlwind and finally freeing her of the pain and shame that Haunts her. From there she will serve as Eliksni Vanguard along side Crow as Hunter Vanguard. Also with Mithrax being a splicer it would be cool if he was the missing link/ingredient need to fix/help with Rasputin.
