Destiny 2 Lore - How the Exos were created! Clovis Bray, The Deep Stone Crypt & "Clarity!" 

So... as a little programming note. I've got tons of scripts written... I'm trying to get them out... If things are a little irregular that's entirely why.

Came across a dead Exo that remembers the taste of a dish his mom would prepare, but doesn’t remember his mom and “technically” hasn’t ever eaten that dish. That hit me so freaking hard, I felt so bad for him!

Destiny Community: Lore Daddy Byf, how are Exos born? Byf: Well, when a mad scientist and his ego love each other very much they make a deal with the devil for eternal life. Then they mix the devils essence with the goo from a murderous, time traveling robot, and that is how Exos are born.

The plot point I have been most interested in for the last 6 years: Exos.

I bet someone, somewhere is working on a Five Nights at Bray Exoscience with that one teaser Bungie released.

Cool little extra lore, the mask of bakris hunter exotic is atraks’ skull face, she ripped it off her organic body after turning into a exo to prevent going insane like the other exos

Yessss, inject that delicious Exo lore directly into my veins.

Exos: go insane and die Rasputin: has Multiple Personality Disorder and maybe on the spectrum Clovis Bray AI: suffers from narcissism and egotism Combat AI: cowers in corners ....What in the Darkness's name is making all the AI in Destiny go nutty (edit) -Failsafe crazy AI too

I’ve waited 6 years for this

I find the races and their connection to the light and dark very interesting. Humans have pretty much only known the light. The awoken are a mix of light and dark and exos are just dark

Ever since the reveal that the Deep Stone Crypt is on Europa, I've been very curious as to what exactly Cayde was talking about when he left the "it's on enceladus" message for Petra

Exos are a lot more existentially terrifying than I thought they would be...

Ghost “ We could bring Cayde back, but he wouldn’t be our Cayde...... Rest in peace buddy!” Me flinging Exo minds around. “Screw that, I need my Raman buddy!”

Here's my biggest questions: Are Exo Guardians still at risk of suffering from DER? Does the Ghost resurrection process count as a mental reset in delaying DER? Does the Traveler's/Ghost tech provide a possible solution to it?

Finally. The Exo birth story. Back in Destiny 1, I had always wondered just exactly how I (my Exo Titan main) was born.

So now that the Stranger is back I think a time travel breakdown might be good. I'm confused on how the Vex and Elsie use it

I've never seen that dialogue in the Glassway's beginning, and I now understand how Ghost suddenly knew Elsie's name when it was the Nightfall

There is a theory in science called Time Symmetry. A lot of Physics actions is time-reversible, which is to say that regardless of which direction Time is running along a series of interactions, the laws defining those interactions are constant and consistent. Clarity is not time reversible. Clarity appears to be, potentially, paracausal in nature.

I cannot wait for this series. It’s definitely going to be my favorite. The whole Clovis Bray and exos ripping themselves apart is so fascinating

I wanted to know what’s up with the exo dream, where they say they only remember when born a tower where some get to it peacefully but others don’t? Or something like that

Whoever wrote the Clovis Bray and exo stuff is really smart.

Point that was interesting to me when talking about DER don't know if it would be for anyone else, the brain will try to protect itself from perceived death through what is called a myoclonic jerk (this is what happens when you are kinda falling asleep and you start getting electric shock like twitches) as your heart rate and breathing slow down and your brain interprets this as the body dying and tries to shock itself to remain stable. I wonder if this manifested in the exo body during DER? it would be feasible to assume that the lack of stimulus would be interpreted the same way even in a simulated mechanical mind and you'd have exo's jerking and spasming uncontrollably as it's inefficacy generates a feedback loop.

I can't wait for you to talk about everything we learned from the lament quest. I think that particular character is going to play a HUGE role in the rest of the story of destiny 2. Thanks as always man,

The similarities between the horrors of exo creation and the game Soma are strikingly similar in how the human mind naturally breaks when given immortality in a foreign form. It's truly a terrifying concept to explore

for me this is a great example of why the writing in destiny is so good this gave me chills constantly

This feels less like a friendly destiny lore video and more like a science lecture.

So happy to start learning more about Exo. It's so intriguing yet creepy at the same time.

About the 'Fish'... I'm willing to bet that in a later season, we find out it's a darkness version of a ghost and {Redacted} who just lost there ghost will get one. through that story and events we'll learn about them.

Love that 3hr long story D1->D2... Thinking you may want a Part 2 before too long. Keep up the good work.

Byf, you forgot a key part of the exo-mind connection with their resets! You brought jt up back during Warmind- that the mind connection is able to reset SAFELY about 12 times. More than that, and the mind starts to fragment and lose memories. Hence why Banshee-44 has such an awful memory. They can't be done constantly, because eventually it could actually destroy their mind, and kill them.

The thing that Clarity does to the radiolaria almost sounds like Taking

Holy shit. The fact that Clarity and the Sword Logic are related is true terrifying, which makes me wonder if this connection is the foundation for the nightmares Exos have about murdering everyone around them.

I hope for all the exo guardians out there (including me) can get some background on why we signed up for the program

Intergrating human mannerisms probably was also why we had Cayde coughing after he was shot by Uldren. And as far as we know, Felwinter was an artificial consciousness in an Exo body and therefore wouldn't need a reset.

I gotta admit, i didn't expect to hear about the sword logic (which i still think should be called the blade logic, because it works with all bladed weapons, like spears, axes, etc.) but it makes complete sense

The implications brought up by the fact that it took Darkness Whispers to have a healthy and stable transfer of the human mind into its Exo body. Perhaps darkenss played a role in the creation of the human mind

I love your explanations and the way you put such care into your research! My kids have even started listening in whenever I play one of your vids. That being said, please do take care of yourself! Burnout can take something you love and care about doing and make it so exhausting that you feel trapped by what used to be an escape. Love your content, but take care of you first :)

I like how much this mirrors with the development of the Robobrains in the Fallout series. General Atomics and RobCo had the same issue transferring the human mind to a robot chassis.
