I find it kind of funny how there is absolutely no veiling the fact that the guardian is literally just seen by everyone as an agencyless force of wanton destruction and death meant only to be pointed at whatever force is currently up front, we will eventually find a way to kill it, that is our purpose, that is all we do
@Myelin Games - The "wish" made with Oryx actually WAS that she would be taken. This proves, among other things, that Ahamkara are true paracausal beings, as she was able to interfere with and manipulate the process of Taking. The specific language used is really interesting too - Oryx offers to "take her away" but she sees the lie, so she proposes that he may Take anything he wishes, as long as he wishes. Oryx agrees and makes the wish to Take her, and it is this unique version of Taking which allows Riven to maintain her identity and personality even while Taken.
they couldve used the idea that we gather these eggs and hatch them for a future "episode" thing. so this season we hatch the one so that it can grant this wish. and then later it comes back and its like hey remember how i helped you get to the witness, well turns out i have siblings! find them and hatch them as well. i dont mind that riven is a part of this season but idk i kinda liekd the idea of hatching this egg as a closer tie into last season.
The fact that Riven coming back, Crow and Mara are interacting, and we get new lore on the dragons and taken, yet no one in the community cares, is kind of the perfect description of what D2 is rn.
The community rely on Byf since the community is stupid and is the reason why I don't like this game, the community sentiment ruins things vs not knowing what others feel like and making your own opinion 😮
The 15th wish is so powerful, it takes twice as long to fulfill compared to others. Riven is so powerful, she bent the wish to her own desires, to be our own seasonal vendor.
That’s the line riven gives it away when she says “ and secure your hearts desire “ Mara’s heart wants her people free from the curse more than she wants us to get to the witness
I like this way of week by week summary with video of his full play through pausing at certain sections and talk along as the video goes. Def good kinda of videos to be able to rewatch and pick the lore apart. Keep up the good work mate!
Thanks for keeping up with the story Myelin, I’ve been away from destiny for a little while but you, Byf, and Evaze make it feel like I’m still part of the community!
I no longer play destiny 2. But i absolutely am still in love with the lore that bungie has created with destiny. These videos help me keep in touch with the game. Thank you myellin.
Thank you Myelin for staying strong and sticking around until the end to explain the lore of Destiny for us! I know everyone’s been doom and gloom lately, but I appreciate you and all you bring to the community
The surprise, Laura twist. This season is going to be when we encounter Squeaky, a vex mind that requires our help to farm Sol Divisive hides and wants to unite with us to defeat the Witness because the Traveler is his uncle.
@Myelin Games - I just wanted to say thank you for making these videos they way that you do. As someone who doesnt get the opportunity to play this game as much as I would want, its great to have a way to follow the best part of the game, the lore and story. I appreciate your videos and I hope you keep making them as Destiny goes through this difficult time.
Did you notice the Blind Well has Green Beams instead of Blue now? In one of the lore cards this season, Osiris says that he thinks the ley lines and strand are connected. And somewhere it said that strand took it's form when our guardian saw it and made that form. Basically it's green because we made it green. What if that is why the beams are green now? Maybe we do learn that Strand and the ley lines are very much connected this season.
I kinda imagine the laylines as layers of webs stacked on top of each other instead of coins. When looking at it from the top down, some lines match up on certain layers even though they are not technically "next to" each other. Allowing us to move us/people or move things through the realms. The eggs would then be orbiting through the lines of each layer, instead of the type of orbit we are used to...kinda like the one Mylein drew. I would wager the webbed layers are rotating in different directions for each layer and we are going to be watching and waiting for moments of alignment week to week.
I almost feel like bungie has made savathun a being that can see in the future. or at least certain nexus points that happens in all timelines.. otherwise she wouldn't of needed contingencies in season of the witch
I don’t see it as that…I see her as the master of the “Xanatos Gambit”- which is a plan that, no matter the outcome, the planner always gains something. It’s named for Xanatos from the Gargoyles cartoon who just always had so many plans and contingencies so he always ended up on top! Savathun is definitely the same vein of villain!
Totally, she must’ve known at least partly what the witness’s plan was. She did kill Nezarec and hide the veil. If she knew the witness was going into the traveler, it definitely makes sense that she would try to wish to follow it
I see Savathun's 'Final Wish' as a failsafe contingency against the Witness if her plans for sealing the Traveler failed... it would be both her greatest personal leverage and simultaneously the Universe's greatest alternative hope for stopping what's to come. We all have to remember... she's been in the Game far, far longer than the vast majority of all parties in this Universe... the knowledge she has dwarfs practically everyone else aside from the Witness themselves and their closest lieutenants; she's at least understood the broad strokes of their plans for a long, long time now.
It seems to imply that Sav's wish wasn't to curse the city but more along the lines of "Find / Follow the Witness", given her knowledge that the Witness lied to the Hive in regards to the Sword logic which we found out last season it would be in her character to have this aim even not knowing the lie of the Worm-Gods regarding the Traveller. Since we learn this week that the eggs are within the lay-line system and that Sav had one of the eggs it is possible that the purpose of the curse on the city was to put those eggs beyond Riven's reach as we also know that the curse effects the lay-lines. Riven also curses the city with her last breath. We also know that when Riven was taken and with the fall of Oryx that she maintained some control over the Taken themselves, it's not stated if Oryx sent the Taken to go after the lay-lines in the well or Riven did as a last act. Personally I think it's Riven that sent them when you look at the enemies with-in it, we have Taken, we have Skorn who we know were created with a Wish by Uldren via Riven and Hive which could be of Oryx's / Sav's brood who align with Riven. We know the dragons twist wishes so the price to "Follow" could be Sav's need to control the well which would make it a price paid with her desire. On the other hand the Guardians desire to stop the invasion of the Dreaming Ciry could be our price paid to fulfil that wish. Sav says that ending the curse is easy I suspect that it would be just not fighting against it and allowing the Well and lay-lines to be under her or Riven's control. With Sav having control of the Well and lay-line she would then have control of the eggs and her leverage, that we are now paying, to use those eggs as a bargaining chip against her which would now align with our desire to "Follow" and our need of the eggs as leverage. We know that the dragons lie so I suspect she did know about the eggs orbiting the lay-line system despite what she says to Mara. Riven even says herself that she hide those eggs, she however would have no way to obtain them while dead without control of the lay-lines. Riven makes us the paths to the eggs as they come into orbit of a lay-line, this is a comment that's made between Uldren and Mara that it is not the Dreaming City we are passing through but a construct made by Riven. I'm interested to see if they do actually explain the curse this season.
Calling it now, the nine are involved this season. Seems like the perfect party to be responsible for scattering the eggs along the ley lines, trying all they can to preserve the future of the Ahamkara for their future use, likely after final shape.
The eggs are orbiting like comets except moving between our reality and the ascendant plane. I don’t think Savathûn used paracausel energy to relocate the eggs. I don’t think she has that power. I do think Elsie, someone on Venus, or the first Egg we took from the spire may have dispersed the others.
Oryx asked Riven if she wanted to be TAKEN away from the spire, she told him he take whatever he wants so long as he wishes to take it, and he did. He Wished to Take Riven
I think this has somewhat been the plan since forsaken because there's a ship that released during that time called Unfinal Shapes and in the lore tab for that ship, it explains the events of witch queen
Last Wish raid ended with us fetching the heart and sealing it with help of the techeuns right? That's probably why we needed to conjure her back. Other Ahamkara were killed but their bones remained without any seals so thats why they can still grant wishes freely, is what I'm assuming at least.
I appreciate the story update man. I know your expanding your horizons, but your still the best lore guy around, and I don't want to buy this season lol
Hey myelin I read somewhere that while wishes can be made from bones its harder/ more complicated especially depending on the "size of the wish" iirc. Love the channel my friend 🤙🏼
I was hoping Bungie would bring back the Ahamkara, they have such a good backstory, and in my opinion...dope. Hopefully we will befriend one of the hatchlings or all.
There are three contenders for who might have hidden the eggs in the Leylines: 1. Toland the Shattered, who knows of the inner workings of the Dreaming City and the mechanisms of translating between the real and the taken world 2. Praedyth, whose role in dealing with Chioma and Maya in other timeline simulations could have possibly led them to uncover a way to harness the manifold of the Veil. He's been on the backburner since Shadowkeep in the lore AND his lore book strangely was released during the Hive's attempt to resurrect Oryx using Nightmare energy, Savathun's subterfuge of Oryx's court, AND the movement of the Sol Divisive, all of which have been REEEEEEALLY relevant as of late... LIKE REALLY; this would also make sense seeing how Osiris keeps mentioning (both in the original Oracle Engine missions from Forsaken AND The Coil from this season) about how the manipulation of space is akin to a pocket scale simulation. 3. The Nine, more specifically, The Emissary, one, who could seemingly move in and out of the Dreaming City without much confrontation, has the ability to conjure Taken, is/was Awoken, and would probably be the safest bet considering that the Nine are in some really deep shit with the Great Hunt as well as being on the edge of extinction themselves.
Still think that long key like looking spike on the ruin of the Witness's Pyramid Ship has something to do with us entering that portal. It points DIRECTLY into the heart of the Portal.
You didn't address who you think took the eggs. I'm wondering if it may have been the Nine. People expected them to be in this season, and they haven't shown themselves. It may have been that the four of the Nine that don't want to side with guardians were trying to take advantage of the power of Wish Dragons again.
Matt! Great stuff as always. As I wrote years ago, Mara said in the OG Last Wish trailer „It is finally time to grant one las wish“. Finally it makes sense. It never really did, did it?
I can see Mara will either sacrifice herself to save her people from the curse while Riven grants the wish or to grant the wish, Mara needs to sacrifice her people within the curse which was Savathun plan from the start.
Wonder if the reason we cannot make a wish with Rivne’s heart is because it’s corrupt? Also, now the Vex seem to be involved. Does Rivens Taken heart have anything to do with the black garden heart?
I thought we were going to hatch the egg and raise a new baby Ahamkara all season, come back next week as it grows bigger. I thought the pale white Ahamkara we saw in the promo materials was an albino dragon. Nah. Techeuns are using a ouija board to summon the spirit of Riven who then makes us go on a literal egg hunt. =/
@@MyelinGames I think Osiris is gonna pull something off with ghosts or strand even and its gonna happen at the same time we do something with Riven and its gonna be like boom wish granted but its gonna be Osiris that figured it out. That’d make sense right?
Riven can refuse the wish because since she is dead, she has no need to feed on our desires. Also, why is Osiris wearing Sunbracers? Is their energy white because he lost his light?
Even better. We gather all of the eggs, Riven hatches them, then makes the wish in a twisted way that doesn't help us, and we have to end up fighting all the Ahamkara hatchlings at once in an epic fight, then we find at the end that Osiris figured out an alternative.
Who hid the eggs? A) Xivu Arath + The Worms (Eir, Ur, Yul) B) Nezarec (Tree of Silver Wings) C) Fikrul D) All of the above ✅ Actually, no; the most likely answer is the Nine, because they didn’t want Oryx to take all of the eggs. On a side tangent, it’s noteworthy that Nezarec has a lot in common with the Ahamkara, mostly in how he transcended his death and his remains became treasures. The main difference (besides the fact that he feeds off of pain and fear, not desire) is that he’s never spoken the Anthem Anatheme iirc.
I think we won’t use a wish to get into the traveler I think Mara won’t have a choice but to release the people of dreaming city of the curse and we will waste the wish on that and then Osiris will figure a way to get into the traveler a different way
Hail Myelin! The Light shines brightly on you, Guardian! So, have you got your wish ready for Riven, or one of her Whims? What do you think a new clutch, a new breed of Ahamkhara will mean for the future of the System?
I find it hilarious that mara sov was shocked that riven didn't want to grant her wish. First off, it's already dead. 2nd, it was killed more or less at mara's behest. And lastly, there's really not much incentive for it to grant that wish to begin with. For mara, someone who is arguably one of the most intelligent character in the destiny lore, to not take into account those variables was very out of character.
