I like to imagine this galaxy pool was what Calus meant by us being with him at the end of the universe. Me and Calus, sitting together in the galaxy pool, 5 feet apart.
For the record, the "textureless guardians" are used as reference to give the artists the right sense of scale to attribute to the surrounding and not create a surrounding that's way too large or too small for the player to actually walk around in.
There is more to that - They use different colours to signify certain things, I think the primed model is for referance, but the red one is for player spawns. This was the case for "The Infested" strike I believe
burtusmc that was on Io in Arrivals, it was the last story mission and something of a prelude to Beyond Light. These models in the Dark Forest were most likely used in Season of Risen to scale the reused environments, though I'm not sure why Quarantine Sector wasn't used. There are several instances of Quarantine Sector, none of which players were meant to see, so maybe the one mentioned here was only being used as a test
Blazing Heart the assets are reused, but nothing else. It's like the entrance to Crota's End or GoS. They are held in what appear to be patrol loads, but they are seperate instances and no other loads exist outside of the ones intended
For those wondering about old areas (like expunge) that are still in the game: D2 relies on spaghetti code, meaning that it’s much easier to add code than delete it, and an attempt to remove those areas could potentially break the game
Which is true for MOST video games. Tons of disc-based games especially ship with a ton of beta and unused content for example. If it's not absolutely necessary, and you're on a deadline, why would you put in the effort to remove something relatively small like map data, which could hypothetically cause a bunch of other problems you have to solve and recompilation of lighting and stuff, when that time is in such high demand with other things?
Okay time for a gamer moment: The maps in D2 are not, as far as I am aware, a coconut.jpg sort of reliance in the game-code lol. The only instance of the game crashing, or having any errors, when loaded up a deleted map is (without getting your account banned) is the Izanami forge, and you just get EC: Lynx.
The most prime example of this is the nightfall quest on Zavala that has been then for years. I can't remember if it was there at launch but I think it was. Anyways that quest has been grayed out since beyond light launched and maybe earlier. But bungie can't remove it because it will probably break every quest line tree. This is why the DCV is so annoying. There is soo much content sitting there that we could still technically use because its still in the game files. The whole point of the DCV was to shrink the file sizes... What would be cool is an offline solo play type deal where we could go do old content stuff that is just stored on our machines and not on bungie servers. But back to the code issue. this is why I really want them to make a Destiny 3. Start over fresh with new code. D2 is built on D1 code. That is why frame rate issues are a thing. Like taking more damage from random things, or jumping higher with lower fps, or getting stuck on moving objects. The game was not originally built to run at rates above 60fps. Also a D3 would bring back lots of people who played the first year or 2 of D2 and don't know the game is very different now. Hell they could just remake the game as it is right now and call it D3 and these old players would think its a new game.
Reminds me of the month it took me playing the first mission of Forsaken to get to "No Man's Land". I was obsessed. Finally got there 1 day before it was sunset.
@@terryferguson3996 The 2 cutscenes with your character in at the first mission both are in their own map, and there's a bugged instance of "Last Call" that puts you on a platform with 2 rooms on either side, one being the cutscene where we find Cayde and Uldren, the other the vanguard funeral.
Galaxy pools is the reason I’m a part of the oob/sparrow community in the first place. It lit a spark in my partner and I months ago to keep learning sparrow/oob mechanics and keep 1upping ourselves until we could finally do it on our own. Amazing video man this was an absolute joy to wake up to.
Theory: the galaxy pool was meant to be a place where the player could witness the Black Fleet activating, but it was scrapped and buried for a cutscene instead. Now, it could be used for many things, but I think Samuel put it best: A Throne World for our Guardian. Once more, I believe this Throne World could be upgraded to have all the amenities of the Tower through glimmer, shards and a ton of killing since Throne World's grow through combat.
Oh, it being us seeing the pyramids waking up is a good shout - that explains the galaxy in the skybox. I was thinking it might be a scrapped earlier version of the mission where we get our light back. I'm still left to question why that's the platform we land on, though. Angular white stone with broken chunks and a shallow pool like that is Nine architecture, and I have no idea why the traveler would take us there. Maybe one of the Nine was going to bait us in to show us?
Don't think so, by the way the game gets the player there, i think it's going to be a way to commune with the traveller in lightfall (or future expansions). Maybe a way for the traveller to explain his motives to us. (or just a simple vision idk) Maybe the solar system is the last stand for the traveller, who knows. IMO it's gotta be something related to him just by taking the context in wich we get there
I had never known this structure had existed until now and I've played the game since the beginning, learning about this is super fascinating, and I'm really curious what the purpose of it might have been. The architecture reminds me of something you'd see in the Dreaming City or maybe Eternity, and the galaxy in the background makes me think of the area where you would meet with Mara Sov in the Oracle Engine. I wonder if we'll ever see an answer for this, since it's been here since the earliest days of the game, personally I'm hoping we will.
I see what you mean though, because of where the load is it really makes me think that it's gonna be something related to the entity controlling the Traveler.
@@ubisuccle yeah, i mean lots of people curious about the Darkness and the Witness, but for me, it's the "Entity" above the Last City. We knew so much about the Darkness and yet, we didn't know much about the "Entity" that gives us immortality
There's a reason "You can go there" meant so much to some of us. That feeling of breaking boundaries into something new, peeking into the unknown! The freedom of exploration in a fantasy environment is absolutely magical. There is so much potential here, there is a very legitimate reason some of us are so disappointed with Bungie's decision. Thanks for this, I loved it!
@@depravedpuppet To pull back from the MMORPG aspects of Destiny with the vast, open world exploration that they had planned. There was a very notorious moment in which they boldly claimed that everything you could see was actual geometry and that, if you could see it, you could go there.
Ok I get that but obviously they didn’t want to use it and made it really inconvenient to get there for a reason and hackers and game breakers that do this kind of stuff then complain that bungie takes all the fun weapons and perks away…..maybe cause yall abuse what fun stuff they do give us, and wym “y’all are disappointed” it’s not your hardware to be disappointed in literally were never supposed to see it and before anyone wants to play the “well if they didn’t want it there why didn’t they remove it from the coding” I hope you used the same brain cells to think up a similar comment to realize that they can’t just delete chunks of data from a live game like this I solely believe they reason the devs treat us like children is cause y’all don’t know how to stfu and behave, also I’m waiting for the “I paid for this game and will play how I want” and the “well is it effecting you personally” well as you actions are causing devs to nerf and rework anything fun I’d say yes and as for that other one the fact anyone thinks like this is beyond me as this is a multi player game and one person in a community spreading shit like this is effecting the people that just wanna play the game that way of thinking is top tier entitlement
@@soulthedemonfox The point is that there is still content hidden in the game that we are curious to see. We want to explore all of the nooks and crannies, because that's what Bungie had intended. They wouldn't have built it if they hadn't planned on us seeing it at some point. I hate to let all that work go to waste, somebody's creation, left undiscovered. So we explore.
I remember when beyond light dropped the dlc was not in the best shape when it came to kill barriers and invis walls so me and a friend made it our mission to just see all the places we could get out of the map after we stumblex upon a hole to get past the blocker of the big vex pyramid in the begining of the glassway. Never knew the galaxys pools existed till this video. Time to practice sparrow flying
Me and my friends actually just made it to the space station from deepstone crypt from patrolling Europa today one of the best experiences I’ve ever had going out of bounds 😁
This looks like the solution to "your pale heart holds the key." Especially since you're literally going into The shard of the traveler. Also there's some pretty interesting hexagonal geometry there too. I feel like they were definitely getting ready to have something there.
The destructible trees and guardian statues make me wanna say that this was probably a scrapped version of the mission where you get your light back, left hanging around in case they found another place to use the environment. Destructible trees are there as a cool idea that was dropped for performance or other reasons, and the statues are dead guardians that haven't been posed and are left on a default stance. In this version, we are pulled into the shard to get out powers, instead of just touching it. The only spanner in the works here is the place you get pulled to. With all the white, slightly damaged stone, angular architecture, and the shallow pool of water...that's a Nine structure, and I have no explanation for why you end up there.
You're wrong on the Guardian statues, they're there for the sake of providing scale for the developers making the environment, making sure everything is the right size compared to players.
I remember doing the out of bounds glitch into the Rasputin bunker in The Forgotten shore. It was for the dark below dlc. I got the dead ghost before the dlc released.
There's a pretty interesting OOB glitch you can do in this seasons Sever activities, which is completely out in the open. In both of them with Caiatl, there's the room with Ghaul's hammers of proving, and in the back right corner there's just a hole between a few textures you can just fall down in. You can walk around down there and even get back into the map once you're done looking around. It's a really interesting place because there's a lot of floating Egregore stuff and some weird floating rooms too. I noticed it my first time on the mission, but I don't think it's very well known, being a new mission and a bit obscure to get to.
you know what would be amazing? if this galaxy pool is actually our throne world. for many, many years now, we've met quite a lot of throne world owners, some were raid bosses, some were minor bosses, and some were the final bosses of a whole campaign, and we even befriended a throne world owner. now, it is safe to assume that throne worlds are heavily tied to the darkness, but with each new revelation, we begin to accept the darkness more and more as a means to an end, not something necessarily good or evil. so i think it makes perfect sense for our guardian to acquire its own throne world. That would also give bungie the perfect excuse to kill our ghost (which at this point is almost inevitable).
They'd never kill ghost, unless they want to take away all light abilities, including resurrection and healing. We need them to access the light, through cooperation
Well that area definitely looks like it’s in normal reality you can see the galaxy. It would have to be in the ascendant plane for it to be a throne world. Also I doubt our ghost will die anytime soon. We can still use darkness without our ghost but we still need it for the light.
in forsaken Uldren gets a shard of the traveler from the dark forest in a cut scene, so i reckon it was a cut location where either Uldren or the guardian meets with Mara in that place following that. Mara was still MIA at this point so it seems fitting she would be chillin outside the galaxy, keeping an eye on pyramids
My jaw genuinely dropped when I saw that galaxy, bungie used to do these Easter eggs back in halo. And when I saw that galaxy, I assumed it was for the end cutscene and that you’d run into the pyramid ships. Seeing a skybox like that reminds me so much of super Mario galaxy. I game that I love for its skyboxes. Also I’m liking the music you put in this video. Especially the RC theme.
I have recently discovered your channel, and I must say, that you're fantastic. Any other hacked oob's I watched, didn't include some parts of the maps, missions, patrol zones, etc. But you do, and that brought a "tear" to me eye, that someone FINALLY doesn't let his fans down. So thanks man, you're a top G for this! :) Note: I like how you included a Star Wars Republic Commando song, the nostalgia is real! :D
@@MistaDisha What is that removed planet you were talking about, went looking a little bit but couldn't find anything on it, only found Beyond Light critiscizm content
Amazing Video :0 I know a lot of people have personal theories about what this area is, but I find it most likely that this is a prototype area for the Trials of The Nine flawless room. The shallow pool in the center feels like a good centerpiece where the loot chest would spawn. The aesthetics of the room match the Nine's exactly. The final nail in the coffin for me is the launcher that takes you to the area. One of the main features of the Trials of the Nine "lighthouse" area was a launchpad that would take you up to different islands depending on how successful your card was.
I have a series on my channel my cousin and I started called “goofy oobers” oobers stands for “out of bounders” it’s a series where he and I explore old oobs and try to find new ones while cracking jokes and making fun of each other along the way, I haven’t made very many of them but I enjoy making them so much!
Honestly awesome. It reminds me of the old series .hack when the wavemaker uses his ability to open up a whole new area of the world, where the game maker resides
One of the many reasons I love destiny is the exploration of planets, whenever I get the chance to be out in the woods with no light pollution and see the milkey way from earths pov, even though destiny is just a game I love the viewpoints from each planet and moon. My favorite part about this hidden area you can see his fireteam members gamer tag in the edge of the milkey way, so he’s watching his fellow guardians from hundreds of billions of light years away. D1 and 2 has to be one of my favorite games of all time. Bungie made a masterpiece
It's videos like this, and people like you that really show the true majesty of Destiny. This game is truly like no other and has so much there that is unseen. It's magic like this that makes me wish I had this game when I was younger. But I get to enjoy it with two of my three sons and I got them into it! Not the other way around!
This really brings me back one of my friends was in the original group who where the first to get to the galaxy pool without hacking and I remember how excited he was when he was telling me about it. We then talked about theories surrounding it and other out of map locations for hours.
I used to love finding and doing out of bounds stuff in d1… After this video it has given me a new found love for it and will get back into it. Thank you!
I love going out of bounds to see how maps are built, see areas we're not supposed to get to yet (like the Clovis AI before that part of the story was unlocked), or skip sections of difficult content. I don't go this crazy with it, though it would be pretty cool to get to the Galaxy Pool and get a screenshot of it. For some reason, one of the big doors in the Leviathan (where you fight the "clashing swords" special spawn) didn't render so I was able to just walk right through it and explore outside the map. There's some random terminals and hallways that you can't access at any point, fully rendered for some reason. That's the stuff I like finding.
Bungie needs to add this as cannon in a lore card, like how people called out Caiatl on Twitter for trying to assassinate Zavala, just to have Saladin question her about it later.
Man, this was something else. Every now and then you come across a video that is just miles ahead of the normal content we consume daily. No, "don't miss this mod today" or anything like that. Just pure enjoyment and excitement doing stuff that only a few people can do, and the sense of accomplishment finding 'new' things that we're not supposed to see now or maybe ever. Subbed, liked, commented. Have a good one everyone.
I played the game at launch and haven’t played in ages, and am super disappointed the quest that had you go to quarantine sector is gone. It’s one of the few things I really remembered about the campaign
OMG This feels like how I used to play D1, using the sparrow wall break, and finding other nooks and crannies to get out of bounds, exploring cut content or getting into DLC areas early or PS exclusive areas. The Citadel on Venus and parkouring into the gravity lift. Exploring the nooks and hidden pathways in the Vault of Glass. Soloing Crota's end. Trying to get my sparrow all the way through Vault of Glass, I've actually gotten it to gatekeeper. The Jovian complex in the cosmodrome. I also purposefully never unlocked any abilities on my titan and was able to get through all the early content without any boost jump which goes to show how the game was designed before the decision of how high gradians were going to be able to jump and fly around. It wasn't until much later DLC's that you needed a boost jump to continue playing because so many of the maps and content in the early DLC's were already made and in the game files not really "new"
Man I remember that I did something like that on destiny 1, when the "house of wolfs" dlc had yet to come out and there was the elevator for the last mission that we didn't know what it was for, with friends we managed to climb it and enter it through an absurd parkour, on top there was a beta version of what they would add later, but we didn't know it and we were super happy with the result.! what do you remember ... I think it was the most magical moment on destiny of my entire life
this video kinda reminds me of my name and the hobby that came from it, cubing essentially i self taught myself over course of few months how to solve rubix cubes, it took me so long as i was not consistent at it and had no one to teach me or help me besides good ol' youtube, but now i am very good at this hobby, i didnt have to spend so much effort into such little thing, but i have made myself proud for once in a more destiny 2 fashioned way, me and my friend a year or 2 ago were derping on a cliff related to an exotic quest, and we accidentally found a way out of bounds, and we spent like an hour or more trying to slowly inch more and more in and find a way to go back into an area we're not supposed to get into, but sadly death barriers always gave us a dead end, all though we had a lot of fun back then
i won't lie I'm starting to think bungie knew destiny 2's endgame the entire time and now the galaxy pool will be used in lightfall or the final shape.
I think the coolest part about this to me is how you literally get trnasported OUT OF THE PHYSICAL GALAXY. like your teammates are still in the galaxy, but you're all the thousands or millions of light years out, chilling on a statue built by who knows whenever
awesome video dude. i always was an out of bounds player in D1. gliltching out of the map and finding hidden things probably account for 200 or 300 hours of my playtime. haven't done it in d2 yet but i'll give it a try!
I always found myself exploring every map and trying to get of out bounds in Destiny 2 I don’t know why, I love nesus bc you can easily climb out of bounds
I’ve only ever seen the galaxy pool in video and I don’t have the patience to see it right now I have a feeling it’ll be a lightfall thing with the grav lift and all
I mean, it being in the game since launch doesn't exactly mean much if it wasn't intended to be visited yet. Pretty sure they know several years in advance where certain parts of the story will go.
This... felt like a love letter to the game ive been playing for years. I personally remember launch week - i took an entire week off work and was sitting at a friends place while he called in sick just so we both could play the entire day and just chill. Ive also seen the first video of the galaxy pool and i really forgot about it, until i saw this video.
see this is awesome never knew about galaxy pools till my friend sent me a throwing it back at galaxy pools video still I was always breaking out of bounds since d1 but never made awesome discoveries like this always just giant untextured areas like Venus had so many spots to break out only interesting find I got is breaking out of europa and the dreaming city seeing a wall of textures in europa and seeing one of the weekly challenges waaaay oob
Been playing since day 1 of D1. First I've heard of this. Crazy cool, stuff like this is why I fell in love with destiny in the first place. All the nooks, and secrets. Love it.
Dude I remember when first heard about this when I saw the vid from AZ. With the knowledge of having access to drop box before it released to the public (JB3 don't stream in raid secrets vc again). So I remember just drop boxing everywhere till I could see a guide to get to Galaxy pools, because I knew I couldn't do it. Now later I remember I would tell my friend or girlfriend to stay in the dark forest load while I set up my sparrow, then one day I got it. So I can say I got there too and invited a few of my friends to show them. It's a really cool area to see for yourself.
OOB'ing has become one of my favourite things to do in Destiny I started in Season of the Arrivals, so I didn't get to engage with most of the sunset content. I did the base campaigns like Red War and Warmind, but I never did things like Forges or any other seasonal content. So when I oob'ed into the forge in the EDZ, checked out the niobe labs and stuff, it was genuinely one of the coolest things I did in Destiny, it felt like I was exploring relics of the past. I'd recommend OOB'ing to any dedicated Destiny player, its some of the most fun you can have.
I bet this area will have a huge role in the next DLC cause we are supposedly losing the tower again, maybe returning to the Farm (that would be cool, i missed the farm) , so maybe we will have to fight the darkness though the containment zone, and those breakable trees might have something to do with a mission, you'd have to make a pathway kind of like the taken blights in doorways. and maybe the galaxy pools is where we meet the witness, or an entity of the traveler
im calling it. because youre being pulled into the traveller like a pyramid ship, once we beat the witness or run away from him, the traveller sucks you in and brings you there. MARK MY WORDS GENTLEMEN.
There's no community like the Destiny community. It's like its own world away from reality where people come together to discover things. It's why things like the original Black Spindle mission were so cool because it got the community involved to find this mysterious exotic Black Hammer. Things like the SIVA ARG that led to the discovery of Outbreak Prime and the Infinite Forest puzzle to unlock Bastion. If there is a secret, the Destint community is on top of it immediately and it's solved in weeks and it's what makes this community truly special to me.
