I think one of the most important parts of this is that Immaru didn’t resurrect Savathun, he just left with the Traveler. Really makes you wonder if all ghosts can just choose to leave their guardians.

There's actually several instances in the lore where guardians and their ghosts separate. One of my favorite examples is from "The Chosen's Choice" from the lore book "Ghost Stories". During the Dark Age, there's a guardian warlord who went around pillaging and slaughtering villages as his ghost just watched. One day, after he had died again, his ghost decided enough was enough, and she abandoned his body.

they can. one lore tab even explains this when a prideful guardian that had fallen from grace and become selfish an entitle die, the ghost just left them

Savathun used to work and obey the Witness until she turned to the light. The whole plot of witch queen is Savathun wanted to seal the the traveler inside her throne world to keep it safe from the Witness. Savathun knows the Witness is no joke . She even says “Don’t say I didn’t warn you” because witness probably going to kick our ass🤣

Traveler granted her the light so that she can be 1 of his many bodyguards (guardians) against the Dark. She's literally an expert on the Dark. She had a plan against them.. we fucked it up.

Definitely getting some Ebony Maw vibes from this character. Sounds like “your powers are inconsequential to mine” would be something this “Witness” would also say while floating and with its multiple illusionary arms doing all sorts of trickery as us guardians struggle to figure out how to defeat it, as it just casually overpowers us like nothing. Maybe puts Zavala in a torture room and questions him… that sorta thing.

@@YezaOutcast Honestly, I kind of hope they stick with that. Destiny's story has been overall quite hopeful, even with the looming threats we've faced, so just imagine how they can blow everyone away by ending the story in a different way. I'm not saying that I want them to make it so the guardians lose...But I don't think they should really win either. I don't know, that's just how I feel.

This seems like the final part to Destiny's overall story. Every we did had led to this. Killing Crota and summoning Oryx was the start, now we pay the price for our own actions. The Traveler may not survive for much longer, and the story will end to begin Bungie's new IP.

So I'm not caught up on the lore past literally this cutscene (playing Lightfall later this week after watching seasonal content on YT), I'm wondering if this could be nearing the end of D2 and it ends in us being absolutely destroyed by the Witness in another collapse type of event. Then D3 is where we finally win. lol random speculation I just felt like typing out.

Knowing what we know now it wouldn’t be unreasonable to rule out that the witness was involved in our guardians death that we saw in the corridors of time during the saint 14 season
