If your songs weren't about video games, I firmly believe every one of them would be played on the radio all the time. The music quality is just so far above anything I've ever heard. But then again maybe that's why they're so good. There is something about music about video games, using the lore, themes, and feel of a completely unique story and world, and encapsulating that into a song, that makes it sound so epic. It almost feels like it has some actual importance, like an anthem or a war song. Your songs perfectly synergize what I see as two distinct artistic mediums. Thank you Gavin.

I never realized till recently that all your songs follow a narrative curve in a way. You start out with a simple set up that grabs the attention but doesn't clamor for it. Then you build it up slowly and deliberately with your choruses being little points of no return that permanently add onto the complexity but also rest the song a bit before building back up. Coming to a fantastic climax which is the most complicated chorus that simmers to a satisfying end.

Nice that you noticed! I always do my best to produce & mix the songs in a way that builds dynamically to a climax of some sort :) I also tend to structure the lyrics in the same way.

miracleofsound I'd started noticing the same thing recently, and I think it really adds to the songs. It's a large part of the reason that Fires Far is one of my favorite songs. Also, as someone who enjoys playing songs on Audiosurf, I can say that yours are some of the best, largely due to that build. Keep up the great work!

The line "dying stars collide" actually has some meaning for me now. This is due to me and another sunsinger warlock being in the trials of Osiris and both using sunsinger. After which we both got into a fierce brawl and ended up vaporizing each other, making the match a draw.

I love the sheer raw emotion in “Shadows of a ravaged paradise, Sanctuary born of sacrifice”. It feels like a call forward to the sacrifices of heroes like Cayde-6, doing what Guardians are made to do, fight to protect the Light

True story: I was playing a level 18 strike (I was level 20) and my goddamn team quit on me in the first five minutes. So, just for the hell of it, I played through it with this song on repeat. Got to the final boss (it was that Archon guy), and fought him and his minions for about half an hour, alone. Eventually, I killed him and beat the whole damn Strike by myself. So thanks Gavin, your song made me an unkillable badass. :D

When I first heard this song, not gonna lie, I didn't like it very much and stopped listening 45 seconds in. After having heard all of Gavin's amazing songs (that's an huge understatement), I decided to make an exception for this song, as Gavin has made exceptional songs, and I was blown away. The main chorus is what really got me, and, like all of his other songs, want to play Destiny. Rock on, Gavin Dunn.

Dear gods man. This... This is phenomenal. I've had emotional responses to songs before, but this is the first one that has made me openly weep unaided. The sheer loss of it all. Everything *gone*, ruined. And yet in all that sadness, there is still some small spark of hope, lost out there somewhere in the great unknown. My hat's off to you, ser. You've made me cry, in a good way. It takes a lot to to the former, exponentially more to make it a positive thing. You have real Talent, and the will and skills to know how to use it. the first time you listen to this, you don't like it. but after a while you hear it in your head.. and you listen to it again. and it sounds a bit better. and you listen again.. this song grows on you, its not an instant hit certainly, but once you listen a few times it becomes one of my favorites. just because its so fresh and different from your other recent works.

Tbh. When I first heard this the lyrics all those years ago in middle school I just thought how perfectly in my head the lyrics are for the Maze Runner books. I never really watched the movies but read the books so I was a lot more imaginative with the scenes than the movies. And this song just makes me think of Maze Runner lol

Being a player of Destiny, I enjoyed all the little nods to the game the song has. Golden age obviously referring to humanity's golden age when the Traveler appeared, and the line about a ravaged paradise referring to the Last City and how the Traveler's sacrifice made it possible

I have to say I think the one thing I love about your music more than anything else is your willingness to mix up your styles, push your boundaries and try and produce something different each time. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep pushing yourself the way you do. Not my favourite song of yours but thoroughly enjoyed it all the same. Love the rhythm, playing around with the vocals, there's something about this song that gives my goosebumps. Love it.

congratulations, one of you songs just made me buy a game. First time I heard about Destiny was when I watched this jsut 2 days before the realease, I have played for only an hour but can allredy say I love it. THANKS! Jack Kingston I don't know. While it is easy to compare to Borderlands, and definitely similar, it felt a lot more like it was drawing inspiration from more classical rpgs. It feels like something that drew inspiration from a different sources, and merely ended up similar, likely because it was of similar inspirations. I guess the best way to describe it is that Borderlands felt like Diablo fused with an fps, and Destiny feels more like it was drawing from Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age. With the feature regression that comes with mashing up either hack'n'slash or crpg with an fps, they end up quite similar, especially when doing so for a console game, but the differences still show through, if only slightly.
