I saw this band live a number of times over its years, 3 times on a shared bill with Mary's Blood, whose initial members were ex-Destrose. Great live band. They also often performed with Gacharic Spin and Aldious on the club circuit. This band was a major incubator of talent.
Destrose is considered pioneers of the all female Metal Band Boom, Destrose is best known for the subsequent bands later formed by its many members; Mary's Blood, LOVEBITES, Nemophila, Fate gear, Disqualia, Mardelas....
VERY UNDERATED, VERY UNDER APPRECIATED BY REACTORS. A WEALTH OF MARDELAS LIVE VIDEOS OUT THERE. MARINA REMINDS ME A BIT OF "YODA", KINDA MAGICAL. MAYBE MY FAVORITE LINE EVER WITH HER DELIVERY, "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DRINK?"
Miho Miho Miho! LOVE Marina's vocals the Blond guitarist you chat was typing about is the Founder of the SteamPunk Metal Band "Fate Gear" and ONLY Saki (before she was in Nemophila) was from Mary's Blood
I hope Captain Mina gets due credit for Japanese women in metal, as the founder of "the mothership" Destrose, and also founded Fate Gear. She just recruited arguably one of rhe best performance drummers named JUNNA ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UKr1H4Jv6is.html . JUNNA for their EU tour. JUNNA was also a key part of the rock band Trident (you see her in beast-mode in their song Voltage), and she also recently toured with Marty Friedman (formerly of Megadeth)
yup - no mistaking haruna's stars and miho's headbanging. 11 years ago - they were just babies ! metal babies that is. marina has one of the most distinct voices and has been with the band MARDELAS since 2015 and blonde guitarist captain mina - originator of DESTROSE - is now with FATE GEAR. last but not least the other guitarist narumi is with the band LONESOME BLUE. check out their latest mv 'face the fear'. great song and band
Some wrong informations in your chat - none of the members we see here were ever Mary's Blood members - it's the last Destrose incarnation that became Mary's Blood, not this one. The dark-haired guitarist here is NARUMI, she's in LONESOME_BLUE now , another band I really recommand - try "Face The Fear" .
Haruna with long curly hair looks fun :) I wonder if those long curly things at the sides are real or fake. Because, except for those, the hair looks like normal.
Some clarity is needed for newcomers to the scene because of erroneous and confusing comments. While this is considered the “classic” Destrose lineup (all members here went onto other bands), there were versions of the band before and after this lineup. Correctly mentioned in comments is there are timelines online if you research the band a bit, this lineup was circa 2012-2014. While the comments correctly state Miho snd Haruna went on to form Lovebites, and Marina went on to establish Mardelas, the Mary’s Blood and Aldious comments are erroneous. The comment about Narumi and Aldious: the poster is confusing Narumi with Yoshi who confounded Aldious in 1007 and has always been in that band( one of the bedrock groups of female J metal)), Narumi cofounded a band called Disqualia ( Hazuki from Nemophila was a member of Disqualia for a time)and then went solo. The Mary’s Blood connections predate this version of Destrose. The 2007-2008 lineup of Destrose ( which included EYE, Mari, Eri and Niboshi) formed Mary’s Blood without Mina in 2009. SAKI from Nemophila ,who joined Mary’s Blood when Eri and Chiba departed at the end of 2011, was in Destrose a short period of time during 2009-2010.
Dunk you need to hit up Mary’s Blood. They were by far my favorite j-metal band before Nemophilia hit and then ran neck and neck. It is remarkable that Saki played in both at the same time before Mary’s went on hiatus. I know yo7 love your double doses so here is a great starting lineup Marionette mv: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MLM2unV0kwU.html. And then live doing Bloody Birth Day: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KODPK5CSgU0.html. You simply cannot go down the female J-Metal rabbit hole without hitting Mary’s.
Drummer Haruna, bassist Miho before LOVEBITES... Miyako band Drop Of Joker, 21g, Sonic Lover Reckless before Lovebites.... Midori band Geikijo Metalicche before Lovebites..... Saki band Mary's Blood before Nemophila... Hazuki band/group Lisa X and KOIAI(still with) before Nemophila...
Sorry. I want to clarify. Miyako participated in 3 bands at the same time (album recordings, concerts): 21G, LOVEBITES and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS . - The final concert of 21G (with Miyako) took place on March 8, 2019. After that the band broke up. - The duo SONIC LOVER RECKLESS formed in the spring of 2017, around the same time that Miyako took part in the recording of 'The Lovebites EP' (release May 2017). The latest release of the CD/DVD duo 'The Phoenix' (December 2018). This is a recording from the SONIC LOVER RECKLESS concert, which took place in September 2018. After DESTROSE (2015) and before creating LOVEBITES (2016), Miho played in the bands: ESTRELLA, COMA COUNTESS, MOTH IN LILAC.
Miyako joined A Drop of Joker's predecessor band GoDeath in March 2011; band name was changed to ADOJ in 2013. - Saki played in a Seikima cover band, in the band mixx, in the band Re:MAKER, and in AMAHIRU too. - Hazuki's pre-Nemo band was Disqualia, while Li-sa-X Band/KOIAI were/are concurrent with Nemophila.
A quick history on Destrose. They started in 2007, founded by Mina (blonde guitarist). They went in to hiatus in 2008, then after 9 months the band, apart from Mina left and became Mary's Blood. Then a few months later Destrose were asked to support "The Iron Maidens", so Mina had to find a new band, which included Saki, who left after a few moths, to join Mary's Blood. Over the next 6 years they went though a lot of members, quite a few to start or join another band. The band was not helped that Mina became ill over the last 2 years, and stopped playing live, and she left the band in Feb 2015. Destrose finally went in to hiatus in April 2015. Lineup in this Video : Captain Mina (Guitar) Started Fate Gear a few months after Miho Rosana (Bass) Started Lovebites Haruna Yosai (Drums) Was asked by Miho to join her in Lovebites Narumi Suzuki (Guitar) Started a band called Diquallia (with the singer Ibuki was going to be the next singer in Destrose) then started Lonesome Blue Marina Hibiishi (Vocals) joined the Mardelas I am going to see Fate Gear tonight in London, they are a great band live. Who have, at the moment 3 full time members and 2 guests, although on this EU tour the drummer had other commitments, so Junna is filling that spot.
Destrose started out in 2005 under the name Destroya. They never achieved lineup stability, going through an incredible 23 different members in their run of 9 years. This is probably their best-known line-up. The live concert is from 2013. The blonde guitarist with the pirate hat is Minako Nakamura (stage name Mina), founder and bandleader and the only constant member. Former members went on to form many other all-female metal bands. There are very few clips of Destrose available on youtube, but here are three of the better ones: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G1VwEGHPIhs.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V1Sxfs83Olw.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M7fkLtj3SVs.html The first big spin-off from Destrose was Mary's Blood, which at various times included six different former Destrose members including most of the final line-up. That lineup (Eye, Rio, Mari and Saki) was stable from 2012 until early 2022, when they disbanded. (Saki has gone on to become one of the founders of Nemophila). Here is their best-known official MV: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MLM2unV0kwU.html Vocalist Marina Hebiishi co-founded Mardelas with Ikyo Oikawa from Lightbringer (lead guitar) and is the frontwoman (the rest of the band are male). She is known for her “weaponized” vibrato. Mardelas are focused on straight-ahead power metal: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wd8P7wTnWJs.html The guitarist on the left with long red hair is Narumi Suzuki, one of Japan's premier guitarists. She co-founded Disqualia, filled in for Toki with Aldious during Toki’s maternity leave, released a phenomenal solo EP, “The Seed”, featuring highly technical prog and fusion-style instrumentals; and has now co-founded a new prog-metal band called Lonesome Blue. She is very much worth checking out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cRyCaHjwIgk.html After the final dissolution of Destrose, Mina went on to found Fate Gear. They have featured a number of top vocalists, including Nana, who does both cleans and growls, and Ibuki. They also collaborate with Jill, the violinist best known for her work in Unlucky Morpheus). Here is Nana in “Megabullets”: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x--sGzoAzrA.html Bassist Miho Rosana and drummer Haruna Yosai co-founded Lovebites in 2016, and are making a case for being the best power-metal band ever (Miho left the band during the pandemic and was just replaced by Fami, a young phenom who has already made an impact on the band). Here is one of their best MVs: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hLFelI93VkM.html. It gives you a taste of their approach, after which you have to see some of their astonishing live performances: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bgAxpEpEcno.html
This guitarist went into the band Aldious. The vocalist is still in Destrose. Wikipedia actually has a great chart for who was in the band and for how long.
It spins my head how many musicians I can think of that had a baby just in the last two years. Mayu, Miyako, Asami, Tamu (3 years ago), and so many more.
So many epic bands that have come off the tail of this legendary group. It reads like a who who of J-Metal. From Mary Blood to Lovbites, Nemophila, Aldious. Along with Albion, Octaviagrace, Mardelas & Disqualia, among many others. While Destrose has long since disbanded. Their spiritual successor is probably Fate Gear. Which is another one of Destrose's founder, Captain Mina's brilliant reincarnations. They are a steampunk metal band if you can invision that & are f**** badass as hell. Captain Mina is a pioneer & deserves a lot of credit as not only a great writer and guitarist. Yet as a starting point for many of my favorite J-metal bands careers. Who aren't Babymetal & Band-Maid respectively. I recommend checking out Battle Against Justice, Scars In My Life, Along with Unbreakable Wings, Headless Goddess. 🤘🔥
It's hard to find Destrose content. They were constantly losing members and disbanding. This video is the best i could find. Aldious is a more successful pioneer Jmetal band. Hopefully you'll do some Aldious. :)
I have also not heard Destrose before. I have heard about them and know that Haruna and Miho played there before Lovebites. The music is nice but I do not think I can stand the singer.
Destrose was a huge revolving door of talented girls. The number of bands that can trace their lineage back to Destrose is quite a laundry list. At one point the turn over rate was so high i'm surprised anything got done.
