Destroy All Humans PS2 vs Remake: The Gold Standard Remake 

I heard people were down on this remake for not being "new" enough of an experience. I've played through the first level of the remake and it seems like it strikes a nice balance of preserving the original experience while adding small quality of life changes of the sequels.

i hope if they remake the second game, they add an option to reset/replay side missions, and rework the bosses like they did here

I remember going to PAX and getting to play the demo of the first couple missions. I was the only one that was having no issues with the controls and breezed through it. Got my photo taken with guys dressed as Crypto. That was a great time.

If they remake Destroy All Humans 2, THEY have to have 2 players in, with splitscreen and online co-op. if they don't put splitscreen in they might as well say get the PS2 version for offline co-op.

Man I loved the second one, I played it so much.

Mission replay on free roaming games is such a great feature that I'm sad not many of them have. Sometimes I just want to replay missions without having to restart my save file. I really liked that Sly 3 and 4 included it.

I personally love DAH2 more than the first I hope they make a remake & improve on it where they can. Also a bit of a tip for Annihilation on the remake. Ignore focusing solely on destroying the buildings. What you gotta do is go after the bonus dna, usually it’s “drain x vehicle for extra dna” that’ll fill the bar faster. When you’re in between getting the extra dna destroy buildings, cars, & anything else with the heat ray & sonic boom. I don’t recommend using the quantum deconstructer unless you need that final bit of the bar & you know you won’t be able to reach the extra dna.

I was half asleep when 19:00 happened. Needless to say being a touhou fan it woke my ass up real quick

I had no clue tapping the button made cortex scans faster. I freaking hated the stupid roboprez ending fight, kept getting killed over and over cause I would constantly be hit but have nothing around to use for shield recharge. The repulsor also seemed to be picky, I would use it, even when fully upgraded though its like it just stopped working randomly. Some missiles would still reach me despite using it. I found out how to levitate things without throwing purely by accident, ended up really disliking it as more than a few times I would use the PK ability without meaning to and have have a random thing floating beside me. Typically happened durring large conflicts. I would have liked stealth better if you could use PK on something like a rock or other small object without breaking holobob, then throw it to create a quick distraction.

I didn't know that you made a comparison for RE3. I'll have to watch that after this

this remake just makes me scared of the gta trilogy remaster, all the love, care and attention to detail seems to be an integral part of this artform that most are leaving in the past with things such as the bts and little details of remakes and remasters that are just absent. really indicitive of the current gaming landscape and its just a shame for people who really love these franchises.

If they remade 2, I'd love to have the co-op tether made larger. It felt like you couldn't go more than a few blocks away from your friends.

I honestly would pay AAA money for 2 remake, I was excited hearing this one was being remade and even happier it was only $30, well worth the money imo.

Playing through this made me want to see Mercenaries get a remake. Sadly I think EA still owns that.

Another thing I quite liked was the blending of the game into the greater mythos. They’ve added a lot of side references to DAH2 such as Gastro the janitor, and the retooling of features like transmog make it feel cohesive. Seems they definitely are working on a DAH2 remake (although not officially stated) so I’m keen to see that.

I'm still not a fan of how cartoony the NPCs look in the remake. I much prefer how they looked in the original game.

This series was my jam when I was a kid, especially the second one. I'm glad this game got the remake it deserves, and I hope they're able to do well with the other games. If they made a new game, that would be cool as well.

Destroy All Humans for the PlayStation 2 WAS at that time to us hard cor fans what the remake is now. So the fact that the people who hold all the copyrights to the game and have the say so to make these choices NEVER forget how special the original ones were AND why.... Man... That's beautiful... The first two Destroy All Humans games are absolute masterpieces in my eyes... 👽

The amount of QOL on the remake is AMAZING. some infuriating stuff become viable now, and the zap-o-matic can actually kill people.

In the rampage missions, you absolutely have to transmogrify or destroy vehicles that are worth more points. I got 3 stars on every single rampage by just going after every marked car I saw. The game doesn't tell you that completing the optional objectives will net you more points lmao

A few things I dont like about the remake is people don't get knocked down when you throw things at them. People don't disintegrate when on fire or with the death ray, Holobob compromised is great for weapons but its annoying when it happens because of using pk.

26:56 - about "perfectly priced" - maybe it IS perfectly priced in so-called 1st world countries, but in my country and for me personally, it's NOT like that at all. If i see some game i want to play with a price a 30 usd, that means i won't be touching this for a looong time, until the biggest discounts and some saved money. I mean, even prices like 7.49 or 3.99 is REALLY debatable for me. And 60 dollars games like D%%th Stranding or Jedi Fallen Order (on Steam, which almost completely ignores the economical state of my country with its prices, yet they DO have regional prices for Russia, even though they doing better than us, economic-wise), or 30 dollars games like Cyberpunk-2077 (price for my country on GOG) are purchases for some really distant future. P.S. I'm not debating or putting in question anything, i'm just informing about other side of reality (mine and my region's, to be exact).

Honestly I'd call it a restoration instead of a remake. Just like fixing up an old car, fixing everything that needs fixing but leaving things as they were when new.

I thoroughly enjoyed the remake but the one thing I miss is the old PK mechanics. You could troll NPCs so hard, and using it didn’t make citizens instantly see through your disguise. And didn’t instant kill them either.

I brought this remake, did mostly everything on about a week, was at the final boss and kinda just put down the game and forgot to pick it back up, I'll have to go do that soon.

I have so much nostalgia for all the originals except the first one oddly enough. I played the second one first because a friend got it and EVENTUALLY I got the first one myself but could never really get into it after playing the other entries. I've been skeptical about getting the remake bc of that but this vid is making me wanna give it a try

The side mission in the saucer actually makes sense, I’m sure you were too wrapped up in the fun of blowing shit up to notice but the actual goal is “destroy marked targets” on your minimap all marked targets are yellow. You can still blow up buildings for extra credit but the focus is on the marked targets if you want 3 stars. Also, just a side thing to mention when you were talking about Cortex Scanning, distraction, and Forget saying how it’s hard to tell when it’s starting or finishing I respectfully disagree. With Scanning it shows the tether pulsing from the brain of the individual you are scanning to yours. With distraction it shows the tether implanting the thought into the head of the person you are distracting. And with Forget it shows the same thing as distraction but a different color. Also the range in which you can Holobob is indicated on the crosshair, when it’s just blue *you’re not in range* if it’s blue and yellow *you’re in range* And one last thing, they are Remaking Destroy All Humans 2, what they do after is up in the air. I for one don’t want a Destroy All Humans 5, I want a real attempt at a third game. There never was a Destroy All Humans 3 since anything that came out after 2 dropped the numbers. Also, Path of the Furon was complete garbage and I want them to just remake the first two and make a third game set in the 80’s.

Destroy all humans is responsible for my love of gaming now, I remember playing it at my friend's house and I'd always be captivated by it.

I Love the sliding across the ground gimmick, I really do. But I don't like how you can just do it whenever. Lol I Love the limitations of only being able to run in the original. 🤷‍♀️

Can you do a retrospective of saints row games they honest dont get love anymore

Well your getting your wish. DAH 2 is coming. And I hope that it does well enough to warrant my favorite, the only one I actually played back in the day, Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon.

I dunno if anyone has noticed or if it bothers anyone else but the ps4 version of DAH! 1 introduced some bugs that weren’t in the ps2 original, such as the shield bar flickering when pressing L1 and often for no apparent reason. This single bug hinders my enjoyment of this version and I’ll instead take out my old ps2 copy of the game. The xbox one version on the other hand has no big issues like this, at least from what I’ve seen from watching others’ gameplay

Can we please stop calling literally every open world game a GTA clone? Its such a lazy and reductive way to describe something. By your logic you could call pretty much every RPG or racing game a GTA clone

Free love is in the second game It's also in the remake of the second game. Which explains why they didn't add it in the first game.

My only issue is the fact they reused the voice lines which wouldn't be a problem if it didn't sound so poor quality and doesn't fully sync with the movements of the characters most of the time.

So its perfect remake. Cool.

I found it a bit too easy(I maxed out brainsnatching), but it was fun overall. The only exception is the last bossfight... I really felt the lack of ammo there...

oh. okay so someone else who's had trouble with the destruction mission, it's actually fairly easy when i realized what it wanted me to do. doing that mini game it'll tell you to 'drain the marked vehicles', that's it. if you drain them you're golden & you'll see your progression bar shoot up in no time at all. prioritize draining vehicles & dropping your nuke boogers on large amounts of buildings whenever it's possible.

I love the original! I also loved the remake, i did all mission's on 3 star and did all optional tasks, I unlocked all upgrades, 3 stared all challenges and found all DNA probes. 100% game save and 100% achievements! Loved it! Can't wait for destroy all humans 2 remake!

The gold standard? HAAaaa...... That be COMMAND AND CONQUER REMASTERED... the sheer content for 20$ and the love and layers of old+new... its mind boggling

The remake is great and I got 100% on it today but for me the PK isn't as fun as the original. Making object and people float is a lot faster but I miss the ragdoll element of the npc's when they would be dangling in mid-air

Just dumped 20 hours into it and 100% over the free play weekend on my Xbox One X! Loved the original 2, and this game DELIVERS! The gameplay and quality of life changes were amazing, and the graphics absolutely blew me away! I literally stopped and stared at the beach/sunset on Santa Modesta for like five minutes lol. I’m sure we will get a remake of 2 considering they exceeded sales projections and it’s garnered decent hype and reviews.

So... are you just not seeing the pulsing lights that flow through the tether into and/or from the target when using things like fallow, distract, forget, and brain extract?

It’s funny how there two sides of the golden of remakes now. We have ff7 remake which remade the game down up, and changed the story up a little bit. And then there this game. That remade the game ground up, but kept everything that it was. I enjoy both. Ff7 is such a complex story that it makes sense they can change the story. I believe both games are the golden form of remakes

I would get a remake of Destroy All Humans 2 hands down.

The slight censorship in both the Destroy All Humans remake is a disappointment for me, keeping them from being "definitive" versions of the games. I'm glad the majority is close, and the gameplay QOL improvements are of course great. But it the censorship is a big negative for me.
