Damn, Khamul hanging the skin of Beorn on the wall, that's absolutely horrid and disturbing especially since everyone might not realise that the bear skin belongs to a man
Really happy you like our mod! 😄 It makes me incredibly happy when you point out something cool I added. If you want to do another future campaign I'd recommend you play Umbar! They are a haven of black numenoreans and corsairs and their leaders claim descent from the Gondorian King Castamir, whose claim they can attempt to press. They generally have a ton of potential areas for expansion as well as a bunch of decisions (Theres even a secret final decision for those who wish to truly mantle the legacy of Numenor)
22:12 Utumno was Melkor's (Sauron's boss) first great stronghold. It was destroyed when the Valar, after finding out Melkor was turning Elves into Orcs, waged war against him and took him prisoner.
Saruman's death in this game is actually hilarious to me. For those who don't know, in the books it's made clear that Saruman is actually a bit of a moron, albeit one who is positioned to do very real harm to the heroes (very much a "for all your subtleties you have not wisdom" kind of thing). His big plan is to be useful enough to Saruman that he can be well positioned in the big man's new empire, so that he can get the Ring and supplant Sauron from within. Problem being, Sauron isn't an idiot and those two goals of "get the Ring" and "be useful" aren't really compatible, along with a lot of other smaller bungles. This is something Gandalf points out to Saruman after Helm's Deep in the books, and notes that Sauron will punish him severely (in the books Gandalf is there more on a mission to extend a merciful hand rather than to get information). And Saruman attacking Rohan is the peak of his stupidity, he effectively controls it already through Grima and Theoden, but strikes anyway to appear decisive before Sauron, thereby guaranteeing that when Theoden wises up the war is on and alienating everyone in the process. All of which is to say, that Theoden dying setting off a chain reaction where Rohan immediately works with a returned Aragorn Elessar to absolutely trounce Saruman and then kill him (as Gandalf is not there to advocate mercy) thereby creating a world where evil wins but Saruman takes the biggest possible L is basically the most canonical way that a bad timeline in Middle Earth could possibly go.
I don't know a lot of LOTR and Elder Scroll universe, and I'm glad the teams behind these massive overhaul mods painstakingly incorporating the lore into the game, where otherwise I wouldn't have been interested enough to learn outside of the confine of CK3.
Exactly this. I like LOTR and know / knew some of it, but the team behind the mod just went, okay what if the person playing this has no idea... and then they tons of lore into the game itself.
Elves were stronger to fight against because they get bonuses. Their units are twice as strong, so it is even a miracle you managed to kill 3k with 5,6k if I remember correctly. With proper bonuses, you can defeat 50-60k Sauron mid-late game army with 6,7k elves.
Managed to get Khamûl's ring after winning a siege. The dude hunted me down via events and it ended with us having a poetry contest followed by a duel. I won both. Khamûl is a wimp.
The only person who can still sail to Valinor is Círdan the Shipwright and his folk. Before the Fall of Númenor, while difficult, sailing to Valinor was possible, however after the Fall Valinor was literally ripped to a different world and the world was made round. Therefore the only way to access Valinor is through the "Straight Road", which only Círdan knows due to his favor with Ulmo, Vala of the Oceans. If Círdan decides to take you there, even if the Valar do not want you, he will at least arrive in Tol Eressëa before the Valar smite you, and possibly him as well.
Going to be the annoying nerd here. However, this isn't entirely correct. All elves can go to valinor, Cirdan's role, while incredibly important, is to build the ships in which the elves travel there. I also believe that any elf can bring a non elf there if the valar wish it. As legolas stays in middle earth after cirdan leaves to valinor with gandalf, galadriel, frodo, bilbo etc, but is able to build a boat and take gimli with him to valinor when he decides to go
@@lewisbeckett9598 Oh I forgot about Legolas, I was under the mistaken impression that only the inhabitants of the Grey Havens could sail the Straight Road. But I was already aware that any person who knows the Straight Road can take anyone else there, as the ring-bearers followed Elrond and Galadriel to Valinor, and so did Gimli follow Legolas, as you mentioned.
What if Man built a rocket ship and flew to Valinor? As Eru essentially just placed it in space and left behind a magical path that allows some boats to fly up to it.
@@DovahFett Valinor would probably be beyond reach even for spaceships, as it would be put in a far-flung part of Eä. Even possibly somewhat mobile given the immense power of the Valar.
@@DovahFett Middle Earth runs on mythical logic more than strict materialism. There's no guarantee that you could even build a spacecraft, or reach outer space in Middle Earth. Let alone reach Valinor.
My only question is why they expanded the map south into Fanfiction territory and not into Eriador with, you know, Bree, Rivendell, Angmar, The Shire, Ered Luin, Lindon etc. those places we have plenty of lore about, but instead they pushed the map south into fanfic land.
They're expanding northwards in the next - 4.0 - version but yeah, the mod is more of a "plaything" than an actual "mod" for the developers. After 4.0 they said their next place if the east of Middle Earth, so yeah, more fanfic.
The pain I felt when you said that this mod has been out for a couple of years- meaning so has CK3, making me feel old and how little has happened with the base game in that time 😢
Though canonically there is nothing known about any Sauron weapon if I'm not mistaken? Only detailed description of him fighting mentioned him using his burning hands directly, mace was just a movie thing.
I am sadly postponing playing this mod until they add Dwarves in 4.0, probably next year. Very sad but I can’t play fantasy without my short stout mountain men
Love the CK3 videos you put out, big fan! I'd recommend the tedjin confederacy if you play this mod again, interesting unique decisions are included for either side of the war that wins!
I mean, you are right about this being evil if this is referring to the books or any prior movies. If this is referring to the characters from rings of power, you are doing middle earth a favor.
Rings of Power is kind of an insult to Tolkien’s work from the little I’ve seen. They reduced Galadriel, one of the best characters, into an annoying teenager. She was no child in the books even then
Sauron doesn't have the ring, his absolute command over the Nazgul is not complete without that. Might be time for Khamul to take the place of the Dark Lord.
He doesn't need the ring to dominate the Nazgul. They are already completely beholden to his will. There is no reality in which any of them would turn against him. The mere thought of doing so is impossible for them to conceive.
@@DovahFett What? They are enslaved to the ring. As the creator, Sauron commands them when no other wields the Ring. However, feel free to correct me, didn't Tolkien himself go over what would happen if Saruman got the ring for example, how he could then command the nine then to his desires? Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. It's from one of Tolkien's Letters more than anything official, seeing as nothing even close to that ever happened.
PRO TIP! If you play as Galadriel, do not under any circumstances try to usurp the throne of Gondor. If you succeed, you will find that "Elves do not receive levies from non-elf vassals" and Sauron will destroy you immediately. Hey @juke9674, fix that. It's not very fair.
Just waiting until they make the evil characters have true impact not only in the decisions but in the map as a whole. When you desecrate a place, its name should change and the appearance on the map too - like the forests of Lothlorien becoming black -
Originally it was because we were waiting for our 3d artists to come back from hiatus so we could do the areas with Dwarves and Elves justice visually. And frankly it suffered from massive scope creep - originally it was just meant to be the coastal areas south of Umbar, a short, pleasant distraction.
Welcome back the chad Bavarian please I beg of you play ck3 roleplay Game of thrones series even if it is a short one play either a cool house or a custom one and play tall and wide at the same time Pleaseeee 😅 love your videos ❤
