The guys have some fun with det cord-a.k.a detonating cord-as they spell out their names in explosives and blow it all up. Check out The Super Slow Show, Only on RU-vid.
And the potential of the Super Slow Show series was fully realized. Visuals were fantastic, but to me the best part was seeing Dan drop the act and look sharp and capable in an area of expertise.
Check out the way he talks through the way an HE fragmentation grenade works in their "HUGE BUILDING EXPLOSION AT 2500 FPS" (or whatever it was actually called) video from 4 years ago, more of the same professional level explanation.
make no mistake, Dan certainly has his...um...moments lol. check out some of the Dan stories over on rooster teeth. priceless. but yeah he’s still a pretty sharp guy. loved watching Gavin actually get dirty a few eps ago. just doesn’t happen enough imo.
I like how Gav is clueless about the explosives and madness and Dan is clueless about the technical stuff but the two combined make one awesome channel.
"It's like water" - This is exactly the reason game and film developers (like myself) use fluid dynamic tools to create "realistic" fire systems. In any given system where an element takes the path of least resistance against a competing dynamic, you'll notice a sort of style to its behavior among the chaos, regardless of the elements used. Which is what we're seeing here in the video. The mass of the elements you use may change, but the rules that govern remain the same. It's quite literally like using math as a universal language, since it's all rooted in the formulas of real world physics 👍
I think so too because they're finally using a much better Phantom which is capable of achieving much slower slow-mo framerates than the 1000 in literally every other episode.
Finding out Dan was in the army connects so many unanswered questions. Like legit,i used to be like this normal looking dude is either an undercover extremist or secret agent.
You guys are amazing! When Dan talks about stuff with military connection, he sounds like a expert. When Gav talks about high speed cameras, he sounds like a master engineer. When any of you talk about anything else, you sound like slightly daft toddlers I love you so much :P
Dan, I am not British, but I just want to thank you for serving your country in the military. I now understand how you can withstand all the torture Gavin puts you through...
British and my dad was in the RAF. I always thank his friends and anyone who's served in the forces, as it's such a selfless act, that I could never do myself.
I was born with several deformities that prevented me from serving like my families' prior 3 generations so I have always felt especially appreciative.
+Sahaal_17 Why would it only be Americans that thank soldiers for their service? Also, I feel that I must point out that they never said "thank you for your service", they said "thank you for serving your country"
The most beautiful piece this far in the series, I think it's fantastic that these guys have made it so far and have managed to show is fun entertaining and stunning pieces of slow motion beauty.
You absolutely blew this one out of the park Gav and Dan. This is top class content, as good as any of your other videos, ever. It's so cool seeing you take Slow Mo Guys to another level even after all this time. I wish I could give you both two-handed high fives!
First of all it would be super slow, it would look like a nuke, YOUR MAJESTY, THE COLONY IS IN DANGER! WE ARE GETTING NUCLEAR ATTACKS BY (insert other colony here)
Wow, all this time and I didn't know Dan was in the military. Speaks a lot to why he's so willing to do the things he does. Not to mention his tallent with firearms.
i practically grew up watching the slo mo guys, and seeing their new content makes my heart so happy! from humble beginnings to slo mo gods. love you guys!
@Siss Derella He's using experience to make a channel interesting and fun for others to watch. What are you an activist?Learn to chill out and have fun, stop making the comment section on what you think is not right. Learn to have fun!
I love when they get to blow things up and Dan gets to be the knowledgeable one for once. Plus, this looked awesome af. Who'd ever thought an explosion could be so pretty!
2:08 Is gonna be my lock screen background and 4:18 Will be my desktop wallpaper, both in 1080p HD for my 1920x1080 HP Omen. Layman's terms: Finally found some kickass wallpapers for my kickass laptop
4:21 there’s a really cool moment underneath the ‘A’ where the shockwaves are meeting up and create a cool spiderweb meeting. I don’t know how else to explain it, it’s JUST COOL
Actually standing 50 or so feet away when it goes off is a crazy cool experience. Im in the Airforce version of Dans military career and we had a test day where they set some off near us
Play it back from that point at 0.25 speed. You can see the explosion slowly travelling under the water. Looks like a round spot light moving across the pond.
theres a video where they're messing around with bangers and paint, and at the end gavin says about how a fragment of glass was stuck in dans finger, and he had to have it removed while on tour in afghanistan
You are the first and last channel I am subscribing on RU-vid, you guys are geniuses! (I have been watching your videos for like 2 years and finally made up my mind to subscribe)
I would love to see Slow Mo Guys team up with Taofledermaus and get some weird and wonderful shots of some bizarre custom made shotgun slugs. Dear internet, please make this happen.
Thank you so much for making my suggestion email a reality with this video! This was indescribably beautiful footage! Well done guys, *well* *done* ! :)
Hey guys, how about a close up slow mo video of instant/flash freezing water from the nucleation point to see the growing ice crystals. They're not extremely fast but it would be cool in 4k
Glad to see Dan drop the act and actually show his intelligence. Probably my favorite video for that reason mostly. But still was a cool idea and a cool video. Good job guys!
Amazing. The way the detonation gases expand underwater much slower than the speed which the det cord goes kablooey was worth rewatching. I'm glad stuff like this exists so I don't have to risk my life, health or freedom finding out for myself.
Quite possibly one of the coolest Slow Mos Gav and Dan have ever done. Does anyone know what the pinkish light is caused by on the last detonation as the chord is detonating around the triangle? Is that just lens flare?
The pink light just above and to the right of the main triangle is lens flare / internal lens reflection. If you watch frame by frame, you can see that it is a reflection of the main image. Flippin' cool.
this was great. i loved watching the little shock wave collision for dan's name just below the A. Also Dan is not someone i would call fat. Certainly a solid lookin' dude but not fat imo.
