@@GurpreetSingh-bk5mr he is feeling better now but vision will be back completely in few months retina is attached now according to medical checkup doctors report
Had a Vitrectomy four days ago. Already blood clearing from my sclera (the white bit) vision improving in my eye and gas bubble dissipating. Science is wonderful!
@@sf49erswarriorsgiantsgumba99 gas bubble disappeared after fifteen days. Had my two week check-up, where doctor told me to go away and ‘live my life’. Vision in operated eye still rather wavy, and sometimes affects the binocular effect between both, but on the whole doing very well
@@susanwinn4478 hi Susan, your doctor seems so confident, by saying to go away and live your life, lol. It sounds to me that he knows you’ll see and get better down the road, and knows he’s done a good job. Well I hope that’s what he meant.lol! Thank you for the update. I really want to know the results of this procedure/surgery, as I need one myself..I’m scared! But I know I need it. Thanks again and take care. Love to hear from you again.
Sir i am from India.. I am suffering from a retina scaring problem. I am 22 years old. I have this problem since I am 10 years old. I want to remove scar or dark spots from retina. Please give your solution. Nd support me to solve my problem.
This is what happened to me. Unfortunately more than once. Several surgeries later, the retina became too damaged to restore; this was my left eye; my right eye was damaged at birth. As a result, I'm now totally blind. This was 32 years ago. However, I moved on, I'm working full time and have been in a relationship for 18 years. I'm hoping retina transplants can be performed at some point.
I lost sight in my right eye when I was 11. I’m now experiencing floaters and waiting to see my ophthalmologist. My left eye is my only sight left and I have poor vision in that.
@@Kapiwolf123 I also had this surgery three months ago... My eye is filled with Oil.. My vision is improving weeks by weeks... But my operated eye becomes a bit small in size after the operate... Can it be recovered with time as well or after the second surgery when they'll eject the oil...??
@@shafqatawan6976 your eye got smaller in size? The eyeball doesnt get smaller with oil. In fact the silicone oil prevents it from getting small. Your eyeball gets smaller when it dies from blindness.
@@born2sirius822 you said Errol tore his retina. The comment above said detached!! That’s two different things!! Errol can still fight with a tear retina. If it’s Detached you’re screwed..
@@سکندراعظم-ت4و hey bro, sorry to hear about your father. It's been almost a month since my surgery now. I still have the gas bubble in my eye and vision is slowly coming back. I'm optimistic things will get better by the time. Don't worry much, the surgery is easy. Hope your father recoveres well and gets his vision back.
@@AnasAlhasan I had this procedure 3 weeks ago. The bubble is smaller and my vision is much clearer. The procedure really hurt but I'm so glad I had this done. I'm a bit nervous about the gas bubble going away; it feels like a security blanket! I hope you're healing well. 🙏
Doctors told me that there is total rd in your right eye but my prents are not convinced for the surgery. Plz suggest me how to convince them for surgery.🙏🙏🙏
Fully 94% of vitrectomies are without post-op complication. You come on here and tell everything that can possibly go wrong, but make it sound like those outcomes are commonplace.
Twice, not once, you said a detached retina almost always causes blindness unless treated. This is not true. It sometimes does, but doesn't "almost always". Stop scaring people who are already scared.
This is very true and he is not exaggerating. Don’t confuse a retinal detachment with a retinal tear or break. Huge difference. A break or a tear has high probability to progress to a detachment if left untreated. A retinal detachment that extends centrally to rip the macula off…well that’s a whole different ballgame…even if vision restored it’s more likely to have some distortion.
If someone experiences flashes of lights, floaters or curtains in your view, you must be evaluated by a trained ophthalmologist or retina specialist. It takes an experienced surgeon to know the difference between a stable detachment and an emergent situation. False reassurance can lead to permanent blindness. Be safe and take care of yourself.
question- is the vitreous replaced just by the gas bubble, or is the posterior cavity filled with saline/salt solution? After the gas bubble, does the posterior seg get filled with aqueous humor?
Thank you so much for this imformation, I had to get a Detached Retina Surgery not. long ago and I was wondering how long my eye will take to heal. my doc use a oil bubble not a gas bubble.
I have this surgery tmrw and can someone tell me about the type of deliver of that they will use to deliver the Anesthesia cuz I think I am going to have full body anesthesia
Earlier, my peripheral on my right eye got really blurry. It felt like looking at the light for anlong time and then looking away. I panicked and had to close my eyes until it disappears. Is this anything serious? Please help im only 19 yrs old.
Thank you so much. I just had cataract surgery and retinal surgery without laser, gas or silicone. cause it did not tear. But 4 weeks after surgery when I sit down on the floor and look down later I can a small ball, sometimes 3, it flights up when I look up it melt like black smoke and disappear. When I woke up, open and close the eye I can flash light fly around the eye for a few second and disappear. What happened? Is it dangerous?
You talking about something overshoot like staring at high intensity light give you temporary black spot. That is natural and same with the white spot. If you see it more than an hour, call the doctor.
Thank you for this really informative video. I have just got a vitreous detachment but retina is ok for now. I have FU appts to keep an eye on things. 😂

I wanted to know that is this surgery complicated because my father had eye injury 15 days ago and now doctor tell us to do vitrectomy surgery. So please can you tell me is this surgery successful. Please reply me, it would be great help for me.
After a vitrectomy.......I still have a small bit of peripheral vision loss.....gas bubble is almost gone......but is this normal to have a bit of visual loss ?
@@AnthonyLopez-sc4hs Had mine done a couple years ago and it isn’t all that painful. My eyes have always been pretty bad though so the steroid shot (I was awake for a needle in the eye... never again) and the retinal strengthening procedure I went through after hurt like hell though.
I suffered this problem, in my right eye and I had a vitrectomy. My vision is a bit distorted but ok otherwise. Is any further treatment possible or necessary?
Hi Edward. We checked with one of our ophthalmologists who is a retina specialist. He says it depends on the reason for the distortion and how long ago the repair occurred. Sometimes it will improve with time. Sometimes additional treatment may be helpful. He recommends you discuss your concerns with your retina specialist. If you would like another option we would be happy to service you. You can make an appointment by calling 678.892.2020.
is it annoying? Does this affect your daily routine? Is it a "big spot" of ur vision that is distorted? How it is distored? Thank you for sharing, my doctor warned me about noticing if there is one set of theese symtpoms to call him immidiatly and i am really worried about my vision ..
@@bettercallmepol3493 the distortion is not too bad now. I had an other op on the right eye in Jan. 2020. I had a cataract removed and a false lens put in. Not a pleasant experience.
Right now i am in a well known eye hospital of Delhi,India , Dr. Shroff Eye Care Centre. Today is my mother surgery of Retinal Detachment . I just searched about this problem and get a good knowledge about this . Thank you 🙏
SIR I RECENTLY HAD RETINAL DETACHMENT IN MY EYE , I HAD GONE THROUGH A SURGERY BY INSERTING THE SILICON GEL IN MY EYE. NOW MY SURGEON SAYS AFTER A FEW MONTHS TO EXTRACT THE OIL FROM MY EYE ,I WANT TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE EXTRACTION PROCEDURE OF THE REMOVAL OF SILICON OIL. PLEASE REPLY.
@Majid Abbacy Due to eye not getting enough blood supply the eye will die and will start to shrink and look gross. Also real risk that when the eye dies it can cause a infection that can lead to the brain.
Hello sir,..If one eye have retinal detachment, Is it possible to operate on the other eye BEfORE it also gets retinal detachment? What can be done? Can the Vitreos be removed ?
I’m no ophthalmologist, so 100% take this with a grain of salt, but both my eyes are pretty bad, so when my right retina reattached, the doctor made an appointment to have my left retina strengthened.
I'm currently sitting in an eye doctor's office with slight detachment. I went to this awful Thomas eye where their awful doctor's didn't catch it and do what they were supposed to do. I first saw a Dr.Stephens who was supposed to perform a laser procedure to clean up my lense. At the last minute and after deadening my eye with numbing drops he refused and terminated my care. I then had to drive way north to their other location and see Dr.Mcclusky. Mclusky saw the holes in my eye and said she wanted to "watch them". I followed her with her 3 months later I think and I was not told by Mcclusky the holes can lead to retina detachment. I stopped going because last time I went I waited over an hour past my appointment and their incompetent staff wouldn't tell me how much longer and what was the hold up. Long story short Thomas eye sucks and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
@@kamrankhan-lj1ng the first location with Dr.Stephens is located in Lithonia, GA and the location with Dr.McClusky is located in Sandy Springs, GA I think. Look on their website and it'll tell you. But I'm telling you to avoid this awful company in general. Had I avoided them my eyes wouldn't be in the shape they are now.
