Detail: 2022 Mercedes GLE interior and exterior maintenance wash [4K]

Darlings, welcome back once more. In this video I'm performing a maintenance detail in the interior and exterior for one of my regulars. Filmed with the GoPro for the first time, which has been a learning curve. This is 2.5hrs of effort (due to the dog hair).

That carpet looks the dream to hoover compared to any car I've owned.

Merc carpet seems to consistently do this too, although it helps that relatively new and no mega stains on it (passenger foot mat has something on it though, that'll need a shampoo next time if the customer wants it sorted). The AMG mats aren't as good though I must say, they've got a sort of rubbed fabric and it's harder to get the deep dirt out of.

It really is good isn't it? I would say that some of the lance applied ones like Koch Chemie Protector Wax is even better. I bought the Mystery Box from Infinity Wax the other day and that's got their lance applied ceramic thingy so I'm going to run them on the van 50/50.

Yay the GoPro video! I personally don't mind the head mount stuff as it doesn't make me feel motion sick. I think the play would be static for the majority with a few head mount clips dotted throughout to break it up a bit. You can definitely tell that the video quality has improved. I think most smartphones apply a large amount of sharpening to their footage and never offer high recording bitrates so the GoPro is definitely an improvement. Looking forward to more 👍🏻

Yeah I think having something head mounted where it adds a benefit would be useful, but I can also see where this is properly jarring for some people. I'm going to try the really heavy stabilsation but even then, sped up it goes cray cray. I've got a lot of footage shot from the phone to use in other videos first, but everything else going forward is going to be shot on the GoPro, it's a lovely bit of kit, so compact and the quality of the footage is more than good enough. Interior wise I just need to address the lighting, but I've got ideas on that.

That makes complete sense. Logistically you'd need two cameras to make that doable and not be massively time consuming (which filming already is, I can only do it in jobs where I've got the time to do it.

Thank you. I think there's a good chunk of people it's absolutely fine for, but there's others where it's appalling, I didn't notice it too much myself but my wife had to stop watching it. Funny how it goes isn't it?

Good stuff as always mate. The trouble with Go Pro footage is if there is a lot of movement you can get motion sickness as a viewer. To counteract that, for interior filming I'd suggest mounting the camera on the glass or a mini tripod. I don't think you'll be able to get a Gimbal in the interior easily, so those are probably the best options. In terms of the exterior, the footage was watchable (in my view). However, I think having the camera in a static position negates motion sickness. I know its a pain in the backside though having to constantly move the camera 🙈 Keep up the good work!

I am 100% with you. I'm going to try one bit where you put on the new stabilisation mode they've got, it punches in the view quite a lot but might stabilise it, that will be an experiment to try. The bit when it's static inside was suction cupped to the panoramic roof and I liked that. I've also just got a extension boom to give me some more elevation externally, which I think could give me sufficient height to give a good angle and an interesting perspective. It's either that or plonk it on top of the van 🤣 All the static stuff works well I think, the GoPro is fantastic, I just need to sort the internal mounting and lighting. I've got an idea for that though...

That was a good start to my day, thanks. 1.5 x speed was OK for me, sometimes watching a car being cleaned at normal speed can get a little monotonous. You do a good thorough job and I was surprised how easily you got the dog hair out. I wonder if it helps that the car is not that old? I've found cleaning can be difficult on older carpet.

Yeah I'm with you, real time is slow! Having a fixed mounting points works well with time lapse so I may just end up doing stuff like that, got to play around with a bit to see how I can get the most enjoyable footage I think. With regards to the hair, I always find Mercs let go of the hair pretty well, regardless of age, which is nice. Other manufacturers aren't as forgiving though, and even with Mercs there's a threshold , the Chrysler era ones aren't as good.

I am in agreement Kuba, static and timelapse is best, that stuff inside the car when it was mounted and I was doing the glass etc was really good.

Was just going to write whether you were going to try GT snow foam V2 but i'm at the point where you just mentioned it in the video as I'm typing. Still waiting or got a bottle now? Don't know the full details but its more runny now? Is it more powerful? Also, can you explain the use of the respirator during the wheel cleaning step?

I did as it happens. My review is going to be a while off, I'm going to go over as many different cars this winter as I can, and then provide a clear and evidence based opinion on it. I'm going to be putting it up against AutoFoam as that's what a different foam has to convince me to stop using. This is what's changed (from their site) Version 2 changes: - Improved wetting ability vs V1. - Improved foam density for higher pir dilutions vs V1. - More concentrated vs V1. - Improved scent. - Foam disperses quicker on the ground.

@@SuperchargedLlama very good, sounds like a good thorough review I'll look out for it. Comparison against auto foam would be good, it looks even more like it now when applied from what I'm seeing so far. Out of interest, is using Devon wash as a snowfoam overkill? How would that as a pre wash do against auto foam and in general?

I shall be doing so for the future. I'm looking at some sort of boom setup so I can get it in the car, but static. The cars with panoramic roofs are fine, I just suction cup it to the roof (which is what I did here btw, when I was doing the glass). With great difficulty it seems. A really strong APC mix might do it, I've seen acidic wheel cleaner suggested before too, but if you do that you're going to want to ceramic coat them afterwards because that's not something you can do frequently. Mercedes use such poor materials on these, every car that has them looks terrible, I removed them from my GLC.

@@SteveLBMK precisely. I think what I'm going to try and do is get some sort of boom on my tripod to give more of an overhead look to it, we shall see how that goes!
