I am happy to see a woman detailing. Many people think of this industry as a male industry as if women didn’t like cars and keep them super clean too. Congrats!
Kudos to Chelsea for staying humble & playing the newbie role for the people who are fresh to detailing. Even the best of detailers can always learn something as she demonstrates in this video. Those who have been here for a while know she’s a seasoned detailing vet tho😊👍
This video is priceless! Yvan is a phenomenal teacher; the knowledge passed on in this video is incredible! This is a video that’s getting saved in my detailing playlist for future references!!
What a great video. I’m super impressed that Yvan took time to not only help you be more efficient, but also to allow us to learn as well. A true gentleman!
I'm pleasantly surprised at how much information I was able to take away from this video! Learned way more than I expected. This video is going into my detailing library for sure!
Excellent video Chelsea. FYI Apple AirPods Pro have “Transparency Mode”. You will hear sounds around you but they will be dulled. Take it from a workshop teacher of 40 years. Protect your hearing. Lloyd
Chelsea I always learn something from your videos. Having Yvan working and talking with you took this video to another level! I think this was probably the best detailing video I’ve ever seen ….. Thank you 🥰🤠🇨🇱
He would have. We could have had everything done sooner had I not lambasted him with questions. He was a gracious teacher though and it was an AMAZING day of learning and FUN
@@attention2detailswchelsea oh for sure. I just mean when he’s in his zone he’s so fast but never even breaks a sweat. He’s not moving fast but he removes all unneeded footsteps etc and flies through it. I keep practicing stuff I see him do. I’m only a weekend buy but if I finish faster I get more of my weekend to myself.
This is amazing Chelsea! So great you were able to have Yvan stop by and help you tune your efficiency. This video was full of fantastic tips and I will try implementing them to speed up my process. Thank you!
Arguably the best video you have produced! Not to diminish your other works but this video is not just one of the better videos that you have done. But I would put it as a top 10 detailing video out of anybody's channel!!
@@diydetailofficial totally changed my detailing technics and products i love diy detail and mr Yvan. i can get much better and much faster results make me happy and proud
Wow, this is like an all in one master class on advanced detailing. There is so much good information in here, I've taken a bunch of notes, so I can review it later. i appreciate the time spent on prducing this, and Yvans time and allowing me to become a more efficient detailer.
WHAT!!! You know you made it, when the legend pulls up.... Awesome work as always and what a great opportunity to wash a vehicle with Mr. Lacroix. Thank you for all you have done and teaching me to become the best DIY detailer I can and the Mckee's 37 ceramic coating recommendation. :) Best quote of the day.... "When your MTM foam cannon wears out, get an MJJC!" If only that was a paid comment, he would have a couple extra million in the bank from MJJC. That comment was just FACTS!!!! MTM has the "Rolex" effect with marketing, but it's not the BEST.
I've been watching Yvan at DYI a lot lately and one of the first things that came to my mind was "it would be so awesome if he did a colab with Chelsea". So as soon as I had a free minute I sat down and just soaked it all in! You're both the best detailing teachers I watch and it's perfect to see you together. Can't wait for parts 2 and 3! 🥳🥳
Well done. Very brave to have the godfather of detailing watching you! Great video, so many useful tips. Looking forward to part 2. Just personal view - prefer it if the background music is muted during the talking sections
So much good info! I really enjoyed the "uncut" conversations that were authentic. I appreciated you being very humble and willing to learn and ask questions as well!
This video was AWESOME. I really loved watching the two of you work. Man the tips... incredible. Think I haven't tried them yet because I'm afraid of change and going away from my process. It seems like I need to! Additionally, I'm really interested in the work you did with the rotary. Thanks again!
Some very good tips discussed here, with regards to your 'tingling' feeling in yours hands, i suffered with this, i now wear anti-vibration gloves when polishing. After 30 years in the business it takes its toll on your body. Brilliant video though keep up the great work!! Regards from 🇬🇧
Awesome. This reminded me watching my neighbor who was home on leave from the Marines teach his sister how to parallel park. He was such a great teacher in life but after being told how to so many times she just exited the car and told him to park it. Chelsea, thanks for not leaving the car in the street. It’s not until later in life that we make that humbling phone call to say, “you were right. I should’ve listened then. Thanks for the great advice.”
Awesome. I'm a home-based detailer as well and this was really informative. Like you, I deal with the challenge of sunlight and uncontrolled temp/humidity. I really enjoyed the conversation regarding iron removal.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this gold!! I'm sure you had to pay for a private session of instruction and for you to share it with your audience like this is amazing! Really want to share my appreciation. Yvan's wisdom in detailing is amazing, really, really enjoyed this!
What a great video to watch and learn from. I am a home based detailer and too and I am always looking for ways to improve efficiency. The DIY line has helped me a ton with improving efficiency and delivering outstanding results. Last count I have five DIY gallon jugs in my garage and to be honest I need three more. I use the corded Flex rotary because corded versions make more torque at lower rpm’s versus battery. The gold standard polish means I do not have to tape off which saves a lot of time. It is also the standard of being pad dependent and I no longer have to carry a cutting compound and a polishing compound. Thank you guys for the video as I have learned a lot of knowledge from you and Yvan!
Vibration syndrome is a well documented health hazard and can cause nerve damage to people using tools that vibrate on a regular basis. There are special gloves that help dampen vibration. It's one of the reasons why I switched to a rotary. I love my Flex forced rotation DA but after a few hours of polishing an entire car, the tingling and numbness is worrisome.
@@diydetailofficial so here's a question. You're working on a vehicle with single stage paint with visible surface rust. Is your synthetic decontamination towel and iron remover something you could use to eliminate the surface rust before going over the paint with a polisher?
Hello Chelsea I enjoy your videos and appreciate all the tips you share. I’ve noticed that you discuss a wide variety of products. Since you have experimented with so many, can you please let me know the products you use for the following tasks : - Carpet cleaning - Carpet stain remover - Grease on headliner - Tree sap remover - Tar remover - Water spot remover I also have a few questions: 1. Do you recommend having an ozone machine 2. Can a clay towel be used instead of a clay bar 3. Do you always use an iron remover with every detail Thank you 😊
Please, please, please start wearing hearing protection immediately, do not wait for Christmas. Not being able to hear your kids 5yrs from now without hearing aids is a far worse fate. Samsung buds pro are $129ish and have ANC, eargasm volume reduction earplugs are $30 and work incredibly well, whilst not blocking out everything. I use both for motorcycle, and polishing sessions. A DA buffer is literally about the worst noise possible for your ears, damage wise. You are awesome, and we care! Keep up the great content!
Between my adhd and auditory processing issues and all the loud devices I use my family has gotten used to me asking them to repeat themselves. I’ve always been around loud vacuums and probably have done some damage but am trying to become more aware and careful.
What a great video. How intimidating to be working with Ivan, one on one. You seemed a bit tense but that is to be expected. We all would question our detail process when in front of Ivan. You did a great job and do great work! Keep it up Chelsea!
Oh stop it. Lol. We just had a fun day but at times I may have second guessed myself but I’m never too proud to admit that I’m wrong or can be better. Thankful for Yvans patience and vernacular capabilities.
For snowfoam you should try the version 2 of bilt hamber touchless max 2% pir not to sure on the price in the states its a UK manufacturer its seriously good stuff I currently use autofoam which is 4% pir these 2 really clean plus there glass cleaner traceless is very decent Chelsea
Love watching Yvan work, and he’s such a natural teacher. That way of using iron remover is great, and it’s the only way I use iron remover since learning that from him. Yvan just makes detailing so simple. I did the diy 5 year coating, and the only thing I didn’t like about it was the opening in the bottle seemed a bit too large to consistently get the same amount of product on the applicator. Looking forward to parts 2 and 3!
@@attention2detailswchelsea yeah I would either be dropping the applicator because there wasn’t enough or it would literally be running down the panels. I like the ones you can turn upside down and shake until you get like 10-15 little drops
Hi Chelsea, I can't imagine how exited you were, during Mr Ivan visit, I was watching the video and my respect for him increased when I saw him grabbed a microfiber and started helping you jeje. There's people who who less experience and less years in this world (detailing) and they even responded a question jaja. God bless you and your family
@diydetailofficial Mr Ivan, you always going to have my respect, I remember when Mike (@mikeautodetailing) a detailer friend from California call you, and you helped him with a big problem he had jejeje
WOW! I have been so into Gold Standard had not paid attention to Quick Beads, wow! Great products DIY, and great video ATD, Ivan is the consummate professional!!! Thank you for the info and training!
If I had waited 1 month I would have tried DIY Details 5 year on our black car for the gloss. It looked so easy to apply and remove. It wasn't out when I coated our car.
Two of my favorites! Great video, Chelsea! Did you ever think when you started your detailing business several years ago that you'd ever be doing things like this with folks like Yvan? How cool is that!
What a great video Chelsea. I felt like a kid at school listening to the teacher. Asked you a question on your Facebook page today about how to speed up curing time of another brand coating that you'd used recently. If I'm correct , with DIYs coatings I can wait just 2 hours then apply ceramic gloss as a topper then send it. Sounds like a winner
@@diydetailofficial thank you for the reply. As we are in winter here in Australia, the chance of rain in a 24 hour period is high. I'm looking to use coatings that will allow me to apply, have a short cure time and not having to stress if it will rain within a few hours of the client picking the vehicle up. Would cetamic gloss act like a sacrificial layer in this instance whilst the coating is curing underneath or won't it matter? Regards
Very cool clip, nice to see a visit from Yvan, my only question is , how many pads do you recommend for polishing? I’m a novice to it so I’m kinda nervous, def don’t wanna mess up my exterior lol. Lastly what’s the best way to clean the pads, I’m a driveway enthusiast….i def don’t have a need for the lake country pad cleaner that’s a bit overkill for me. 🙏🏼
Great video! I was wondering what process is done if you are doing iron decontamination on a convertible? is there any concern about the product damaging or staining? obviously you wouldn't be applying it to the top, but there is certainly opportunity for the product entering the tops well during rinsing?
Deleted my previous comment. I should actually read the video description. :) But, have to say that it's hard to watch a video featuring Yvan where I don't learn something new. I've been looking to get a MaxShine DA to fit my small budget. Aiming at the M8S, but wondering if I should rather check out the M1000 rotary. Rotaries are scary though as one of my vehicles went off for bodywork some years back and the poor thing is still covered in holograms from when they hit it with a rotary buffer. Also such a pity I can't get any Diy Detail products over here. That iron remover with surfactants looks perfect.
@@attention2detailswchelsea It's all about turn-around and how many vehicles they can get through the gates. On the bright side, I now have a vehicle to practice on. :)
