You would only usually see those types of doors in the USA. Not very common in the UK.

John Lewis (Heelas) in Reading had these doors on their larger, then public lifts back in the 80s and 90s

An american style door, never seen them in person myself except for small dumbwaiters. These doors always remind of the guillotine blades from prince of persia. Luckely these doors don’t have sharp teeth. I guess the main advantage of these doors is that don’t require much horizontal space in the shaft but the tradeoff is the vertical story height required. In the USA they often have a simple barrier gate on the inside that only partially covers the door opening. Would be a nice solution for innerdoorless lifts to prevent “klammrisk” accidents with wheely bins and freight pellets.

Weird how it didn't reverse when you put your foot there. Normally on Peelle there are sensors (at least on the gate) & pressure bars on the bottom of the gate & the top of the door. Also, in America, the Peelle door release uses a custom key.

Maybe the older 1s don't, but all the newer 1s I've seen have sensors.

interesting , I guess you can still exit at any door via any roller switch/lever but just need to reactive the lift via the original entry door switch. 👍nice

A bit irrelevant but do you know if the last remaining platt Schindler at guys hospital in the urbex video from April 2016 is still surviving?
