Good to see a more substantial guard rail on the car top, as I feel car tops should have these, to lessen the risk of an engineer falling off the car top. I think there also should be grilles where the car top meets the counterweight. The guide wheel sounded like a small manic Dalek.

A great place to have lunch during a heatwave. 👍 That is a really impressive, clean and tidy motor room. I love how there is a PC to run dispatch, and how it can all be controlled like that.

Awsome lifts, interresting bit of software. Seems to run Windows XP on the laptop. Is it possible to change to the destination dispatch touch panel sound effects? I have worked in a building that had Schindler destination dispatch with that exact model of touchpad. Sadly the touchpads are of the resistive type which are not very good, you have press them quite hard to register. In the building I worked (a council office) you had to use a RF-id card to unlock the touchpad.

Most touch screens designed for the public to use are resistive. My guess is that its because people leave sweat and other debris on them, which would stop a capacitive screen working. Also as the people using the lift don't own the touch screen they are not so respectfull with it, so the screen needs to withstand abuse, which I am guessing resistive screens are better for this. Resistive touch screens are very inaccurate and need calibration all the time, so the user interface is always big and simple to allow for this. The most annoying thing is the temperature operating range is very limited. A lot of lift logics use computer programs that have not been updated in years. Some use win16 programs that don't work very well on vista onwards. Also the programs often need exclusive COM serial port access. To get these programs working we have to use a virtual machine.

@@benolifts 16 bit Windows programs... that brings back memories! It was just a shell ontop of DOS. Dos I hated back in the day (in the mid 90's) because it was damn difficult to get games to run properly at times, nowerdays I consider myself a DOS expert with optimizing Config.sys to have a much conventional memory as possible and still have mouse & cd-rom drivers work. There's a bit of an art to it, it's "High Loading" things into to the upper memory blocks.The simplicty and crudness of it has a certain charm, you can fit a functional OS on a single floppy disc.😁 The thing I hate the most at these resistive touch screens is that handwriting on them never works when you have sign for a parcel, those things are the worst. A capacitive screen with built-in Wacom digitzer works quite well.

In my office building here in bangkok I aslo heard the voice of the wheel rubbing too. Its feel awkward when you heard those noise, and because of this model was high speed elevator the cabin will move before the door completely closed at first time I ride I feel weird. 😅 Edit: sometimes the brake was heavy sometimes are light. Even no one was with me. However I love this brand cause it gives me smooth ride compared to others and I love their escalators too.

You didn't wind up the accel? WHY NOT?
@benolifts
@benolifts 3 года назад
1 m/s/s is a crazy fast accel. In the UK you would never find a lift with such as fast accel. Even in Germany it is pretty much unheard of. It is because Schindler is the best lift company that they would set a lift to accel at such a fast rate, and not only that, the lift runs completely stable at 1 m/s/s. I can not think of any other models of lift that could completely cope with this, they either run slower despite reporting 1 m/s/s, or the lift becomes unstable and fails to level correctly. The only other lift that can achieve 1 m/s/s is Kone NMX series VF drives, but although these are very good, they don't have perfect intelligent leveling like the Schindler Miconic. So to answer your question, even though Schindlers can go up to 1.2 m/s/s, in practice they still don't accelerate faster than 1 m/s/s. As this is already extremely fast and the lifts already run perfectly, we felt no need to improve them.

Measured it with a accelerometer and verified with a Schindler mechanic there. Fastest accel with Car D and Car I (4m/s, a= 1.35 m/s^2), slowest accel with Car A and M (6m/s, a= 0.98 m/s^2). According to colleagues accel was reduced due to nausea of some passengers).

Come to the USA once the border reopens. We do have a few cheap lifts (3300, EcoSpace, etc.) but most are actually well built. The older (pre-2016) Gen2 has a proper chassis and runs at full speed with pre door. We also have the best generic lifts. For example, some companies still install the Hollister-Whitney geared machine, a design that is nearly 80 years old and will run forever as long as it is lubricated regularly.

@benolifts
@benolifts 3 года назад
All of the lifts I opened up in Shenzhen in China were crazy well built. They put English lifts to shame. But it was only recently I learnt how diverse Shenzhen is. I only saw the tourist areas when I was there. The non tourist areas would have been a very different story. I will have to return to there to have a proper look throughout the city rather than just seeing the luxury areas to impress visitors. For example, at Lo Wu (where the border crossing is) there are loads of tourists crossing the border but just a few streets away is an area where the cook dogs and sell the meat. To fully find out what a city is like, I like to discover both the good and bad things in a city.
