That's exciting @alexallen5372... hopefully you've been able to get your hands on the car and you're having a blast! And thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! Always nice to hear from a fellow Melbournian! 😀
Awesome mate, enjoy! Just remember to take it easy for the first 1000ks if it hasn’t hit that yet just to wear the motor in nicely (worst thing about buying new cars 😂)
@@TheWordOnCars Great advice. The Cerato manual states: "By following a few simple precautions for the first 1,000 km (600 miles) you may add to the performance, economy and life of your vehicle. 僅 Do not race the engine. 僅 Whilst driving, keep your engine speed (rpm, or revolutions per min- ute) within 3,000 rpm. 僅 Do not maintain a single speed for long periods of time, either fast or slow. Varying engine speed is needed to properly break-in the engine. 僅 Avoid hard stops, except in emergen- cies, to allow the brakes to seat prop- erly. 僅 Don't tow a trailer during the first 2,000 km (1,200 miles) of operation. 僅 Fuel economy and engine perfor- mance may vary depending on vehi- cle break-in process and be stabilized after 6,000 km (4,000 miles). New engines may consume more oil during the vehicle break-in period."
@JudoChop1 no worries and thanks for sharing the details from the manual… I bet a lot of people don’t know this. No idea why the sales staff at dealerships don’t tell customers to take it easy when they pick up their new car. I’ve actually had this conversation with some sales staff and they themselves are completely unaware which is a little concerning! Hope you’ve now passed the 1000kms mark and having some fun in that Cerato! 😋
No worries @tonycoz2309! And agree, the Korean’s (and now the Chinese) are definitely making the most of these crazy prices and under-cutting the competition with cars like this that are just fun and affordable!
Get excited mate I just subscribed! Good review and I agreed with most of what you said. You did have me laughing though when you went from up selling the warranty with the extended 3 years to talking about performance chip tuning mmmmmmm 🤔😂
Thanks mate! 😊 Ex demo is fine but I usually recommend going for something with very low kilometers on the clock (especially if you’re buying a more performance oriented car) because demo cars get a good work out and don’t get a chance to wear in during the first 1000kms. Having said that, if you’re only planning on keeping the car for the warranty period then you’re covered. And great choice by the way… love the Cerato GT!
@@TheWordOnCars so true and I was actually thinking that. The demo I’m thinking of buying it’s only been registered for 3 months and done 5,000kms which is a lot in my opinion. Only getting it for a really good price if I’m able to bargain my way through. How much do you think would be a good deal to get it?
No probs 😊 I’d be guessing that someone at the dealership was using it as their car if it’s got that many Ks on the clock which isn’t a bad thing. And you should def be able to get this for a good price compared to retail… I’d check Carsales to check the price of new and used cars are for sale with around the same number of kms, same year and in your state to see what the prices look like and use that to negotiate
@@TheWordOnCars thought about it for too long and someone else snatched the deal 😂🙃 there’s still a few options at the dealership. Now the more I research the more I debate about it. The Cerato is now discontinued and will be replaced by the K4 early next year. Not sure if I should wait until they’re clearing Ceratos from dealerships or if I’m gonna snooze on good deals again
That’s a tough one mate (if you’re looking for a demo or to buy from a dealer) because they do move stock pretty quick. In my experience, sometimes you need to negotiate a price you’re comfortable with and not worry about how the price moves after that 😊
Wow, you actually get Silky Silver? In the US, we only get Steel Grey, which is rather dreary and with no shine at all unless REALLY clean. (Oh, wait: I'm talking about available GT colors...)
Didn’t realise that @xianshep, sounds like we get quite a few colours down under. I actually don’t mind Steel Grey but you’re right, those greys do look dull when they’re dirty. I should know… my car is a similar colour 😂
@@TheWordOnCars Well, Steel Grey was the color I was going to settle for, but given this climate-change thing, I'm probably going to go with pearl white.
I think a lot of us miss the good ol days when you could get a car for the pure driving pleasure of it. And I’m sure the manufactures would love to make bare-bone sports cars but, unfortunately for them, regulation now mandates cars have all these safety systems. But be nice to think of a world where we could get our hands on an analog car for the track from the mainstream manufacturers without the extra weight (hint hint Kia)!
