Have you considered substituting x = -1. This removes the first element and reduces the determinate to 2 rows - a little simpler.

I was trying to solve our college's determinants CET paper and I couldn't solve all questions. Then I remembered about our Goddesses of Trickology (aka. Neha mam XD) and came here to learn few tricks. To my surprise, I found out that the first 2 questions were already there in my CET paper XD. Anyways thank you mam for giving us such awesome tricks and being a saviour to us :).
