Clear.. If i need to target two states for my survey then how much would be my population at 95% confidence level ? and how much would be my sample size. My objective is to do a comparative study between two states in India. The population of each state would be around 75 million people, but I want to target only a specific location in each states. In that case how much would be my population and sample size. Please help me out ??

I do'nt think the formula is statistically correct ! It may be an intuitive formula . like square root of population size is the sample size !!
