Really good explanation, I wanna know that maybe there are some different in meat quality between unfinished and finished cattle when we slaughter him?, thanks and hopefully you can answer this question
Yes! There is a direct correlation between the amount of intermuscular fat (outer fat) and intramuscular fat (marbling). As an animal fattens and finishes, it is safe to assume that the animal has reached the highest amount of marbling that it possibly can. Heavy marbled cuts of meat are juicier and more flavorful, making them desirable for the market. Additionally, when an animal is starting to get fat, that means that they have reached their genetic potential of putting on muscle. This means that the animal is putting all its energy from its feed into developing fat because genetically, it can't and won't grow any more muscular. So, when you finish a beef animal, not only are you maximising the quality of the beef, but also that quantity! Hope this helps!
@lavanya i'm not sorry at all. certain animals r here for consumption while others not. whatever u said comes from a human perspective but as a muslim i do not live according to what i think is good or bad but what my holy book tells me. I just hope this doesnot turn into a debate or fight on religion. u have every right to be vegetarian, others also have the right to live according to their belief. On this note, my best wishes.
@lavanya im not offended lavanya. U know i live according to my islamic belief but let me tell u something.. there r muslims who r vegeterian as well because either they hate meat or they love animals which in both cases r perfectly ok. I know hindus do not consume bovine meat because it of religion but they do eat chicken fish etc. while there r others who do not eat any animal whatsoever.. so it is a matter of choice and or belief as well.
@lavanya thank you lavanya. Do visit someday after covid. I have been reading about covid situation in India.. heartbreaking situation. I pray the country get over this very soon.
We have better finishing livestock for our meat works in Aotearoa. With grass fed or grain fed or both the animals are brilliant, sold in stock yards to livestock sales in Aotearoa. We use silver fern farms & affco to process carcasses.
david strand Most show steers and beef heifers are 1.5 years old. As far as going “too long” I’m not sure there’s an age for it as commercial producers may wait longer than 1.5 years to finish out a calf.
@@anissam411 sue t mad cow disease your commercial producer wants there beef finished before the age of 24 months big slaughter plants won’t take anything older but the small farms can go as long as they want without fear of the mad cow disease
Mack Plymale we use something called a show stick to rub their neck/brisket to help calm them. It’s also used to move their feet during shows. It’s not sharp and doesn’t hurt them, it’s just there to put pressure on them
Marquis De Potter she is scratching them to keep them calm and not moving around. The angle of the shot made it look weird, and normally the same person leading it (holding the harness), is the one with the pole.
Ok let's start doing that, and giving them the best life they have instead of sitting in a place were they can get sick, were is the stripping too just wondering,I don't remember seeing them take the suit and tie of
How can a sane person look at a live living and breathing being and think of it just as a piece of meat that is or isn’t ready to be on your plate? How can you look at it moving around and being a companion to humans and then see the dead flesh on your plate along with some vegetables? That’s so sick and stuffed up on so many levels.
@@nalley6815 highly doubtful, I know these idiots and make more than any farmer/devil . Retired at 45 so don’t think so. Keep supporting cruelty and morons like this .
@@Bluegrassman12 how is farming cruelty? You know what I picture when I think of cruelty to cattle? Them out in the wild being eaten alive by another animal. Legitimately eaten alive. Farmers give the best life to cattle they can have. But I guess you’d rather them be brutally murdered and torn apart by animals. Really shows how smart you are 👍🏻
@@nalley6815 there is no such thing as a cow, a pig, a chicken, etc. in nature. They are all genetically modified from wild animals 10,000 years ago and would never be here if farmers didn’t rape or artificially inseminate them. Then take their offspring use them all as commodities until they are of no use, and Send to slaughter . the wild is different ,animals do what animals do in the wild, they have no moral compass . seems like you don’t either. try educating yourself on agriculture and then get back to me when you know something or I can keep schooling you.
@@Bluegrassman12 dear god I hope you aren’t really that stupid….. they are bovine animals that have been around a long time. What do you think happened to them when they died? They sure as hell didn’t die from old age. They were eaten alive by other animals. They didn’t give them a painless tap on the head for an instant non suffering death I’ll tell you that much. No animal out in the wild dies from old age. Not a single one. They all suffer brutal suffering deaths. But yeah you’re smarter than me so you win i guess. I suppose this farmer needs to educate himself on what he does everyday and listen to the guy that has never worked a farm a day in his life and knows nothing about it. Schooling me lol. Only person you’re schooling is yourself and it’s a bad look
