Was so excited to see this reaction pop up on my RU-vid feed! I have been obsessed with this song since it came out - such an amazing anthem for the blue collar working class (and not just in America - there's been a global positive response to this song. People all over the world can identify with what he's singing about). And the fact that he recorded it live on his property, just his voice and his guitar, is incredible. You can so hear the raw emotion in his voice. As far as the "miners" vs "minors on an island" line goes, my understanding is he's basically saying he wishes politicians were focused on the concerns of the working class - coal miners - and not doing the evil things they are doing (aka Epstein Island). He has a bunch of other songs, all of which are great.
The line about "miners" (coal miners) and "minors" (underage kids) isn't really comparing the two issues against each other. Just that he wished politicians wouldn't be spending time with kids but on issues like the trouble coal miners have. The guitar is called a Resonator guitar. It's sometimes also called a Dobro but Dobro is actually just a brand name of a popular maker of resonator guitars. Sort of like Klenex and tissue paper. haha The round metal part in the center of the guitar replaces the sound hole. It has metal cones which help amplify the sound and give it that slightly "banjo like" twang.

He isnt comparing anything, he is just saying yes be concerned about minors on an island but dont forget about the MINERS. He might also be referencing human trafficking in general as well but that might be a stretch.

The miners/miners, minors/minors line is a jab at the government's abuse of the children all over the world as well as in our own sysyem. Minors being groomed for LGBTQ+ vs minors on Little St. James. But it's also ajab against the abuse of miners in Appalachia vs miners in the Pacific Islands where tonnes of minerals are mined every year. The guitar is a resonator guitar, made popular by Dobro. Many different brands make them, now, though.
The line about the Obese milking welfare has triggered a few people. But it is *not* an attack on obese people. I receive EBT/Food Stamps because I am disabled. In the state I live in 45% of EBT funds are used for snack food (junk food) and soda. I, personally, think EBT should also have mandatory nutrition counseling or better limits to what you can and cannot buy. When a diabetic (like myself) can use taxpayer provided funds to buy soda, cookies, and sweets, it proves the system is broken. Just my opinion.
