It was when the old governor cut spending in mental health and close about half the psych. wards here in Michigan, mostly around the Oakland, Wayne County areas.
Be careful when your looking at properties here, the deals maybe good, but the eye candy is cancerous. And heartbroken to those to go pass it. But if you love a challenge and have a group of people who love to work on complex projects, then you found the place.
I like how many people who think the government is incompetent also think the government is running a sophisticated, "systematic", not to mention successful campaign to keep certain specific groups of people down.
Some people see the value in Detroit i know it's very valuable I'm never leaving, we have big beautiful home spreaded throughout the city, we have a big beautiful island for festive activities and I'm starting to see a whole lot more diversity. If you live in Detroit i encourage you to start investing in your city because the city is rebuilding itself rightnow and attracting a lot of investor. Everything has been done everywhere else it's our time to flourish again.
a lot of them "kit houses". mail order bungalow's from a Sears Roebuck catalog wildly popular after the war for their price/ease of build/quality bang for your buck. most with the same floor plans. you just flipped this over, inverted that above, and added/subtracted a window here or there to make it your own. upgrades were the interior doors/staircase's/porches. gave the "average family" a healthy head start on to "the American dream", and made Sears BILLIONS.
Hopefully you are still planning on visiting Milwaukee some time soon. I know you commented on a previous video that you'd be up here some time this summer and I gave some recommendations where to go, but I'd like to see that happen sometime soon. Nevertheless, you really got some great footage in this video. I always enjoy seeing inside the gas stations and stores since there's always something interesting going on. Never a quite day in Detroit.
Bob Rakow This was mentioned in a previous video by someone else: King Park - abandoned/decayed blocks North Division - violent hood Park West - violent hood with decay Sherman Park - visually not bad, but riots broke out there last year Avenues west (specifically near 28th and Michigan) - decay Metcalfe Park - extreme violence, some decay 35th and Center Also, start off on 40th, and go til 8th. But definitely 40th and Burleigh. Burleigh is a notorious street. Nicknamed "the Zoo" 29th and Locust (all of locust is bad) 25th and Auer Harambee neighborhood BONUS. Theres the Milwaukee Mall on Fond Du Lac and North Ave. its a pretty fuckin ghetto mall that might be interesting to some people. i also mentioned to stay around 30th-35th street since thats were the railroad runs (a lot of abandoned buildings). and i also exploring some of the stores around fond du lac ave and burleigh since thats were the riots were so you may still see the remnants of the burnt down jet beauty and oreilleys stores.
How are the nearby places nowadays? Used to live in wayne in 99, was wondering if you could film other places in the metro area in the future as well (dearborn etc)
Hey if you come out here to Waterbury CT there is some pretty hood spots. Lot of vacant houses and shit. Where I live there is a ton of boarded up spots in Wtby
mad respect but for real how do you do this without issue that'd be some scary shit mad props bro, keep it up I'm new and have been binge watching your vids!
For all of you who live in Detroit, you can get a list of homes or properties for sale that are simply behind in their taxes. So for example, these properties where the trees are grown up around the homes. You can actually go to either the county clerk or District Clerk's office and get that list. And find out when they're having the next auction. From the looks of it, you can probably get three of those lots for a couple hundred bucks. You can clean up the lot knock down the house but keep the foundation. You've already got water hooked up and electricity access. All you got to do is just pay a little bit at a time to build the house. Just make sure when you buy materials that they complete the job before they leave so no one is stealing your materials. If I wasn't in Texas I would go and buy a whole bunch of them and clean them up and rent them out and make all kinds of money. If you charge people just for $500 a month and made them sign a contract that you could come to the house once a month to look at the house to make sure there's no damages you could make a lot of money. But you got to make sure that contract is Right. Hire an attorney to draw up a contract for you to cover everything you can think of.
keep doing what your doing never mind the speedbump comments...they TEMPORARILY cause a little distraction...but nothing that can stop your drive for what you do.... 🔺🔻💯
I appreciate these videos. Sometimes I imagine what it's like to walk in the shoes of a black person in their areas. There is a different subculture to experience and I find it interesting. I am definitely have an outsiders perspective into this black culture.
Eazy oh I bet. When Katrina hit they all came here to Houston and our crime rate spiked and it has not gone down since. You can take them back anytime you want to.
One thing I've noticed in all these videos is that the street and traffic signs are mostly left in good order eg no bullet holes which can be seen out in the sticks in my 'no guns' country.
hebrew israelite They just don't have anything better to do. Color shouldn't matter but all races have their fucked up ways. This is a fallen world so its no use trying to argue with the devils minions. Just keep on keeping on pay no attention to the trolls. Lifes to short for that shit...
Look it's every where just not there stop killing each other your kids are killing each other in my safe will help anyone if I will then next man up and we help each other love each other. Don't let your safe down
2:43 in the middle of all that trash what a nice scene to see a family get-together like that! 4:35 take away his license and confiscate that piece of trash he's driving and melt it down.
Deric' Anslum I meant do you think anything will change in Detroit over his term? That's not 6 months smartass. Point is Detroit is dead regardless of who's president. It was getting this way under Bush anyway.
Ki!! 4 You know why they bring up Obama. look at their profile picture. And yeah Detroit's been run down. People should know that if they ever heard of the movie 8 Mile with Eminem.
I wonder what type of wild animals come out here at night. E.g owls, snakes, bears. Would be nice if local person mentioned the common animals they see around here at night . This uploader should make it educating video, not just drive for footage clips.
its sick how many racist people are in these comments smh yall really got time to build up that much hate for people you dont even kno or never will see in person smh
It's sad how fucked up these neighborhoods are, but people gotta realize it's not easy at all to get out of a hood. These neighborhoods date back to segregation times, leaving all the newer generations to have to deal with this shit, I don't think anything will ever change.
