I lived in St.Clair Shores for eight years and just recently moved to Moldova in Eastern Europe. Thanks for the drive along Jefferson and Lake Shore. I must have done it a thousand times. I'm still hoping for better days on the east side of Detroit.

Some development projects coming to Jefferson Avenue are the $50 million+ Centennial Park (West Riverfront), urban Meijer with apartments (just past i375), and mix development near the Belle Isle bridge. The issue is that seems to take forever to break ground (at least the Lafayette West development is underway). Mdot might is also considering getting rid of i375, which would bridge the gap between Downtown and Lafayette Park.

The urban Meijer sounds amazing! I can only imagine what an suburban grocery store would look like in the city. I've also heard about plans to convert I-375 to a boulevard or a tunneled freeway. I don't see the tunnel option happening soon since it would probably be too expensive but to fill the massive depressed freeway void to build a ground level boulevard wouldn't be cheap either!

@@EdwardW98 The urban Meijer format should be similar to the one in Grand Rapids which recently got built. Hopefully after the Hudson's Site and Monroe Blocks get built that there will be large retailers like an Apple store, urban style Target, or Best Buy.

Thanks. Brings back great memories. Both my wife and I grew up along there. I grew up on the East Side of Detroit and worked on Belle Isle when I was in High School. My wife grew up in Grosse Pointe Farms and St Clair Shores. As expected, the Grosse Pointe cities still look great.
