“What the heck is going on in Detroit” along with flint. These are the two most forgotten cities. Not by the community but by the law or anyone willing to help. We all could use a hand in this world, but these cities could use a breath of fresh air….but we will never see. I’m 31 born bred Michigan fed and I’ll probably die before this state and these blossoms ever again. Hopefully my son gets to see the beauty in this gorgeous city
I have family who migrated to Detroit from Birmingham Alabama, it is a well known fact that a strong migration took place from Birmingham Alabama to Detroit back in the day, so glad my grandma migrated to Milwaukee WI, cause most of my cousins in the D got strung out on heroin or became criminals, bank robbers, drug dealers etc, it was a hustle cut throat city even way back then and as I look back we were in a much more safer city

Hard to compare violent crime rates of cities with a population of Detroit to cities with literally the biggest population like LA, NYC, and Chicago. It's more accurate to compare certain sections and neighborhoods of major cities especially when NYC and Chicago are the most segregated in the country.

What happened to flint and Detroit is so sad honestly. They were wonderful prosperous places to live until the auto companies abandoned us and moved to Mexico. Once all the jobs went away people here didn’t know what to do and crime took over. Flint is like a shell of a town now an abandoned broken down ghost town. Growing up here was weird as fuck.
Lived in Detroit for 2 years and the city outside of downtown and midtown looks like a war zone. So much history and so many good people forgotten about.
