I get many requests for trying products so many in fact if I did all of them I would need to take out a loan just to pay for them. Once request last week was for something I never heard of from India it’s called Dettol Fresh Shaving Cream. The subscriber said I have to try it so I headed over to Amazon and found it for a few dollars and order one.
This cream comes in a toothpaste-like tube with a removable cap that you twist on and off. On the tube, it said in big bold letters it had 30% extra free! but that got me thinking how small was the original tube. Be that as it may, having more may not be the best thing to have when it comes to this product.
On the first inspection of the scent, one gets the feeling of fresh but then slowing as you're applying it turns to something very different, and the only thing that I have found to describe this would be cleaning products. Unfortunately, this is what I get your mileage may vary.
The performance of the cream is where everything changes this shaving cream has the recommendation of the Indian Medical Community which I have never seen on another product from India before. It performed well in all the areas like coverage. This went on thick and creamy and got right into the beard with no issues. The slickness and glide were good as well allowing me to go over the trouble spot with no irritation. The post-shave feel was also a good one so the only issue I have is the scent and for me, that’s a big deal I’m afraid.
Due to it’s sent most likely I will not be reaching for this anytime soon that being said don’t let this be the reason you won’t try it you might like the scent we are all different so don’t go by me. If I have to use this in a pinch I will there is truly nothing wrong with this shaving cream it's just me.

Here in the UK detol is mainly a brand of antiseptic or house cleaning products never knew they made a shave cream, great video Don 👍

don't understand why some people is saying that the smell is chemical , for me the scent is very natural , very nice , like a speick scent but much more intense . I have 130 soaps in my den so I can compare .

Hello Donald! You should try Pink Woolf shaving soaps, Trigodon shaving soaps and also vicco sandalwood or without sandalwood shaving creams. All are from India. You will love it!

@@MrDonXX Yup Scent is not good at all of dettol shaving cream and they uses harsh chemicals so I haven't tried till now. Now Vicco comes in bigger tubes and different packaging.

Here in South Africa Dettol mainly does Antiseptic liquids and body soaps, as well as cleaning products, known for killing germs etc. Growing up with that scent in the house makes you kinda love it. Haven't seen a Dettol shave cream here but will definitely try to get some. Great shave sir

that razor is awesome i find it gives wonderful shaves and very forgiving . floating blade is very cool . creams are such a subjective taste however that ver here in the uk dettol is an anti septic sort of liquid for cuts and scraps and cleaning down areas that need to be bacteria free . has a very sort of chemical smell to me

Great shave Don. Here in India Dettol is a huge brand for antiseptic products. The shave cream has been branded with that branding expanded to exude the sense of confidence of being anti septic when you shave... its intentional and I don't like it for the same reason. Lathers excellent and scent socks.. too many good Indian shave creams with agreeable scents !

Scent is a big player in shaving soap, for me even if it performs well I won’t use it again if the scent is bad.

As a relatively new subscriber, I am always impressed by your close one-pass shaves. I don't think your style would work for my skin though. But I appreciate your reviews. When a shaver says they don't like a scent, that's good enough for me. There are too many great smelling soaps and creams out there that most shavers do like.

Detol is a well loved antiseptic and disinfectant liquid in Europe. To me, it smells of childhood. But I can't say it puts me in the mood the shave, Don.

Actually the Dettol anti septic lotion was recommended by IMA(Indian Medical Association). And what reckitt benckiser owner of dettol brand did was they misuses this tag on each and every Dettol named products.

So Dettol is available in South Africa as well and it is a very well know brand here but not for shave soap. It is actually known as a very effective antiseptic liquid (which is bright orange in color) and also some antiseptic soaps. The smell of the Dettol antiseptic liquid is very strong and sharp - as a disinfectant liquid would be like. That is likely also why the shave cream is sharp smelling. It may well have a bit of that disinfectant’s scent (& disinfectant) properties. Probably also why the doctors recommend it :) haha Maybe for Covid-19 reasons.

Haha! This I had to see. Dettol (Det - Toll) is a company that is more known for antiseptics / medical disinfectants here in Asia (at one time almost exclusively used in every hospital here in Singapore) and this is the first I have seen a shave cream by them. Going to bet that now that I have mentioned it, you'll probably think of "Hospital Disinfectants" that slowly evolve to a kind of a synthetic fresh lime scent, you'd find in clinics, yes? 😂 The Occam as always just works and gives you a smooth shave. Good video again. For me.... mmmm dettol is a good cream. I had 2 pack lemmon dettol. Smell Very strong citric fresh... good protection. I like Indian shave products! But now is very very expensive Dettol😢

Yes, here in Belgium Dettol is very well known for its desinfecting products. I guess the smell u talk about is indeed that typical antibacterial desinfecting Dettol smell. I dont like it either, Women buy it because the ads always emphasise the germ killing properties.

I bought the exact same 30% free Dettol about 3 years ago from my local Indian grocery store for $2.99 CDN. I used it once, HATED the scent. Used it twice to try to like it and have never used it again. When people make fun of Arko and they try Dettol they would never make fun of Arko again! Otherwise gtrat shave Brother

Don does the Dettol shaving cream say antibacterial? Because a lot of Dettol products are for antibacterial, that’s why the shaving soaps smell weird.

I have to disagree. The ice cool is way better than the fresh. So far this has been better than many shave soaps. I get close comfortable shaves no nicks cuts and i love the scent. Its all i use now
