Episode 174 - Today was all about giving the Relic mode a try on the Deus 2 while metal detecting in the Derbyshire Dales. All my testing was conducted on REAL targets in the ground, true to life scenarios. Relic Vs General, this is a real eye opener for me, all I can say is WOW!!

My Guy, didnt even flinch when the noble struck you down, very strong 💪. Looks like this machine has got alot to offer and really think it will go down as one of the best detectors ever made, good to see the xp have got a pasture killer with the depth its capable of. Plenty of poor mans silver popping up. Permission robbing is the lowest of the low, you need to name and shame them mate, if i knock on door to ask for permission and farmer says someone else detects on it at the moment, but your welcome to go on as well, i decline as i know how hard it is to get permission, and wouldn't like it to happen to me. . Nice pewter button cut half and a bit. Great hunt mate, looks like the deus 2 is gnna pick up all the stuff your other detectors left behind. Great deus 2 episode to the series.

Deus2 is mint pal am really enjoying it amd its sniffing out the silvers. Mkst of my permissions are shared or have been done by others. But some I have sole permission on. I dont mind sharing permissions but I do mind groups using me and my channel as a platform to put group digs on in and around where I detect

Decided to watch this one again lol.. I've been using park mode... found my first bit I'd silver with the deus yesterday. 1921 sixpence.. very happy. A friend found an 1845 sixpence, in excellent condition, with my nox 600... we had a good day out. Gonna get out again today.. Hope your having a great weekend away 😀

Awesome video as always my friend. Great intro to start your video with. Cracking relic/general comparison tests. Must say I’m not a big fan of the scratchy sound, it would drive me mad. Looks like a tricky program to master on its own. But having said that, it definitely did deliver the goodies. Bad news about the group dig, knowing full well it’s being detected by yourself, it’s bloody disgraceful. Hope they don’t leave the holes in the same way as the night hawkers did. Thank you so much for making this Relic/General modes comparison. I am a USA gold prospector and have used the Deus 1 and ORX in their gold modes for gold prospecting and relic hunting. Deus 2 Relic mode using PWM VCO audio sounds just like the older gold modes. So, you could hunt for relics with your ORX using Gold 1 and get similar audio results but the numerical target IDs would not be nearly as accurate on deeper targets as the Deus ll using FMF. Your video showed how accurate the target IDs were when they were double checked with General mode. The only odd ball target was that shallow aluminum ring that read in the 90s ??????? If you do this comparison again could you try the Square Wave tones in relic mode?? You are awesome. Unlike me, please stay well. Lots of Covid here in Denver Colorado too.

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire Thank you. Omicron sucks from personal experience. ORX was designed for gold prospecting as were the HF coils. It does very well on small gold nuggets. Deus 2 should do even better in Gold or Relic mode since it’s FMF tech may handle high iron mineralization better than single frequency ORX and Deus 1. Sorry I have been giving you grief about your Deus 2 Relic vs ORX Coin Fast video. My Bad!

Well coming from the XP ORX it was a very easy transition as it pretty much does the same, VDI numbers are the same, contoling the remote is same. Its going very so far. I see tomorrow 9am they will finally be available on the shelves

The pay to dig people are ravaging other peoples permissions all over the country and once farmers get money in their hands the friendly local detectorist loose land.I only have a couple of farms but my farmers say no one else will have permission on the land.I do look after them at Christmas and share any finds that are of any value with them.Deus 2 still has a lot to give yet.Happy New Year.

...and today's word is "Screaming " 😄..another great vid mate. From years of following md channels on RU-vid, group digs moving in on solo permissions is a big issue. If you continue to advertise your permissions with panoramic shots , these folk will continue to abuse your openess, unfortunately. Keep your camera shots low and only talk to camera with hedges in background. I see most long term md channels do this now. Good luck mate.

Hi mate, yes that is very good advise. 1 of the key features about my metal detecting channel is also the scenery. And yes you are right these cowboys running group digs have indeed used this platform for their own greed. Ha yes screamer is the best way to describe those signals in Relic mode. Hey buddy, yeah I am grateful to find them, but here in the UK these signals are the same as silver medieval hammered coins. So one cannot help but be a little disappointed when we find them here. Also they look like old silver too

Hi mate, yeah I watch all Gary's videos, they are the best XP tutorials on RU-vid. Theres a couple a things you can do with relic mode, but ultimately you need incredibly clean ground. Thanks you are wlecome mate

I guess with Relic mode you have to pay much more attention to the VDI and the ferrous / non ferrous horseshoe on the screen, seems to punch a bit harder than General though. Those pewter buttons are wind up merchants mate! Another honest and totally engaging episode mate!! Can’t wait for the UK stock to arrive! Happy New Year my friend

Hey Yuri, Relic mode is very cool for picking out targets at depth. There has been a recent update which allows you to use a notch now so you can notch out the dreaded 00 signals which makes it a lot more user friendly

13:20 Problem for this hobby is mainly the Internet and first of all RU-vid! Befor about 30 years, as i began wiggling the coil we are only a handful of nutty boys and nobody cares about us. Now there are more than 100.000 detectorists here in Germany and thats the reason why we are have probs with the archeos and the farmers etc etc! Lots of farmers i know from the past have no more fun to give permission, cause like locusts the detectorists transform every ploughed field and every pasture over the weekends into lunar landscapes!! In the past we hunters took a look that we stay under us and let the less as possible go outside. Today the opposite happens, so please dont wonder that the things are like they are. Hi mate, I could not agree with you more, people see videos on facebook or RU-vid of people finding treasure with a metal detector. Some of these people then go out and buy a machine and join the hobby ( a lot of these will probably give up after a month or 2). This used to bother me a little too, but then I thought that everyone has the right to take up and enjoy a hobby. So I can't grumble. What gets my gripe is these cowboys doing group digs, charging 80 people £20+, sticking them on rubbish land and making a small fortune. It is shocking and this is the worst thing about the hobby in my opinion. GREED

Hi, Duke it's great to see you gelling with the new detector, I definitely think full tones and pitch will give you a better signal and understanding of what you're digging I'm addicted to Hot program on the Deus 1 with full tones, not sure on the Deus II what would be the equivalent? I think your onto something in relic mode, maybe you can tweek it and save in one of the empty slots 😉 Duke mode 1 👍

Hi Stephen, I believe program 4 is supposed to be the same as Deus1 Hot program. I've not even used it yet, I can't stop using Relic mode. I'm havin a real good tine with this machine, another 5 hours done today and another nice old piece of silver

Hi mate thats a very good question and something I should have probably mentioned. For this particular video I was using General, locating a target then showing the signals of the target. Relic mode can be tricky to use in highly mineralised or iron infested sites. I noticed some 'iffy' signals in general were amplified and clear as day in relic mode. For sure relic mode is powerful and deep but as above tricky to use. You can turn up DIC IAR to +5 to eliminate most of the iron and I think reactivity to 3 should eliminate most of the mineralisation but both of these mean you lose some depth. I hope this helps :)

Hi mate, lets hope so. I am using a smaller coil than what I was on the ORX so losing ground coverage. But I'm definitely picking up more signals, this machine is telling me to dig more. I spent 4 years using an AT Pro, long before my RU-vid days, that machine is incredible!!!

I hate it when guys muscle in on my permissions. I've learned to keep my finds to myself, and locations hidden. Right up to parking a half mile away and walking to the spot I've researched and searched so hard to find. But hard to do if you are doing vids !!

Hi Jay, that is the best way mate. I made the mistake of getting friendly with one of these people who runs a group. I stupidly told him where I detect and now he puts group digs on in this area. I shocking back handed tactic but its my own fault for putting trust in someone in this hobby

This is the year, im finally upgrading to Deus 2 after using At Pro for the last 8 years. (been happy with my Pro) I just hope im not too stuck in At Pro mode. But question; as seen in this video several times and specially at 19:20 the relic mode seem to beat general. However I dont want to walk around with Relic mode all the time as its a lot of iron on many of my fields and I dont want to get those happy tones each time I get iron as you demonstrate at 2:01 . Is it possible to customize relic-mode so it works as a General- i mean, it seems Deus has potential to give even better response if general mode had the same sound picture as Relic mode. I hope you understand what im trying to say, as im not native English speaking.

Hi mate, I am a big lover of the AT Pro, I used one for best part of 4 years and found some incredible things with it including my gold hammered. I still own the machine and it will always deep down be my favourite ever machine. Relic mode can be tweaked yes, you can turn DISC IAR up to +5 which eliminates most of the iron signals, BUT I believe you may lose some depth. Relic mode is great on clean pasture. I am still new to the machine, I mostly use General with the square tones, but sometimes I flick to Relic to check signals. I should take my AT Pro with me and do some comparisons with the D2. The biggest difference between these 2 machines is the weight!!

Nice dig mate..not sure if that’s any deeper than a Nox. But certainly nice tones..yer got tobe careful who ya invite to sites..lots of mungers out there. It’s a shame I’ve been detecting for about 40years and it’s got a lot worse.The internet and new media doesn’t always help.People are hungry to turn a hobby into a money making thing..you can see this by what people try to sell on the Net..and also people worried you may find something on there land so they don’t give permission..you know as well as me it’s not as easy to find real good sites. There Building on every scrap of land in the south east. One thing is for sure they ain’t making no more land..when it’s gone it’s gone and so has the history..

Hi Jame, thank you for the comments, you are very right with a lot of things here. I think the Deus 2 setup correctly will compete with an equinox on pasture and wet sand. It is not just down south but all over the country building housing estates left right n centre, its absolutely shocking and disgusting, but what else can you do with a growing population

Nice surprise to wake up to... another video. Really sorry to hear about the people organising digs on your permissions.... this island is so big... why can't they find their own? Nice video though, those pewter buttons do look like silver.. I had one yesterday.. also found a Charles the 2nd farthing yesterday... 1670's, one side is in quite good condition too. The ground is so wet and muddy at the minute, very easy digging, just dirty, but I don't mind. I'm gonna get out for a few hours again later.. think I'm gonna go back to the same field where I found the farthing and spend a few hours there again. I got a couple of other coins yesterday, George the 5th penny and young bunhead half penny, both with amazing green patina... they have been cleaned and waxed already 😀😀

I bought a big tin of it, 200ml I think as it was only a couple of pound more than the 60ml one. It will last me forever , I'm sure. I gave a small bit away, and not made a dent on the rest if it. Anything that I think is good enough, I clean and wax and put separate to the rest of my finds.. getting a nice collection of things already. Can't wait until I've had a few years doing this... I might have a spindle whorl and a cartwheel penny by then as well 😀😀 Hope all well with you. Looking forward to the next video 😀 Goodnight.

@@danielt879 good stuff mate. Where ever you find Georgian coins you will find cartwheel pennies. They are almost always slightly deeper as the weight of them takes them down in to the earth quicker. I've tested positive to covid this week so great start to the year 🤣

The round thing I found the other day is definitely a front off of a silver pocket watch, so I want to find the rest if I can 😀 Hope your not feeling too bad with covid. Seems to be more of a cold now.. just a shame you can't get out.. You could always rent me your deus II for the week 😀😀 save it getting bored in the house...😀 Maybe you could film another video on your finds that have made it in to the cabinet . It's currently driving me mad that an organised dig are working their way through my area. It's a problem that is only going to get worse as well, with so many buying detectors and don't have their own permission. I also know the MoD have also been on 2 of my mates permissions.

@@TheDukesOfDerbyshire it's in configuration mate. The straight line should be a slight angle from left to right if it's from right to left walk on. If line is horizontal again walk on as it tends to be coke. Good luck

I know what you mean someone I know has permissions and a group came on one his fields and tried to make him pay for use of the field and it is shocking and me and my other mate come on sometimes but we leave it to him and another mate as that's there area and we have respect and mostly it's night hawkers that have been my mates main issue tho

That's crap about that detecting group ripping your permission... It's a big business nowadays and farmers have cottoned on to the fact they can make £500... Alot of these groups re seed fields with finds ... The hobby is almost becoming a simulation of real detecting...you should toss a load of old can pulls n moo tubes all over the field lol

There will always be places the little guys like me will be able to go and detect though. There are plenty of places too small for groups and plenty of landowners not interested in 100 strangers running around and destroying their land
