I'm glad someone is doing this. It was about time, Deus Ex has some deep mods that just need some voices added to them. People forget the voice acting in Deus Ex, while not perfect, played a huge roll (especially in 2000) in selling the game. NPCs had multiple lines of throwaway dialogue.
HOLY SHIT, this is pretty sweet. While the use of AI in this is fairly flawed and I hope you could get some VAs interested in this, it's not a terribly bad start.
@@domasbaliulis23 I'm aware of the whole AI debate and how VAs aren't a fan of it. Personally, I would prefer bad VAs for this mod than AI (especially since P2027 doesn't really have characters from the main game, so all you need is convincingly crappy accents), but for now I see AI here more of a placeholder for potential VAs if it's possible to replace them with one for certain characters.
@@peppermillers8361 i don't see a bloody point to that... hiring a cast of VA's, both either amateur and professional, just for a old mod that's not supposed to have any ACTUAL voice acting is just bloody pointless.... And only crappy VA's i ever heard deus ex-wise was nihilum, same one silverspook did on TWICE... Besides, i see AI only as a supplement to provide voices to the text-based stuff in the game lore... Cyberpunk 2077 is such one and of course, deus ex... but that's just the start.. and there's a problem.. can't find a proper ai voice cloning thingy without the restriction/paywall bullsh*t.... And elevenlabs is one of them.. and obviously the one being used to produce these ai voiceovers for these old mods by this guy. and you got nothing to say about that, huh? this guy and everyone else doing ai voiceovers for old games such mafia and starcraft with no issues, and doing it like its no big deal about it, IT IS a big deal... ai voice cloner with a paywall and a truckload of restrictions should freaking worry them plently, especially the fella with the ulrezaj pfp, who does of lot of them.. and it worries the likes of US who can't seem to even use it freely or even gain access to it... and to me, both of them apply... while i technically found one just now without such restrictions and paywalls, it was imperfect for me.. tried using bennett and mr hands as examples, and, like i said, imperfect as hell.... jesus christ, i would like to get my hands (no pun intended) on it faster than i would on a handful of coke filled in a flour packet.
@@domasbaliulis23 I don't agree. I think P2027 has so much effort put into it to make it feel like a new game that I think it deserves proper voice acting. I also think human intonation can add a lot compared to AI, even at its worst. ZODIAC and Hotel Carone are good, but nowhere near that scale (though you can argue they do some things better).
@@peppermillers8361 ...and now im having trouble finding one that doesn't need to sign up, pay for the content you need, or have LIMITS ON HOW MUCH YOU CAN DO IT... and the ones on github needs you to do complex command prompts i don't have have time and patience for... A F*CKING PROGRAM FREE OF ALL THAT BULLSH*T WOULD BE NICE.... this sounds way too familliar... with the mentalmeisters... don't want anyone peeking into the game files to "enforce" their "no cheating" policy, but there are CHEATERS AROUND REGARDLESS... but that is not my concern for such human trash.... more concerned for the fact how they curb to the chinese community.
