Idk if you do mean if you do mean neville longbottom, but it is valid - look up 'anwar' from skins, (a character dev patel played early) see if your brain can convince itself that thats the same person
@@Enstaar30 JackieWarner13 was talking about his accent in the movie. In the movie he has an Australian accent. In real life, he has 100 % British accent, 0% Indian accent.
After seeing the clip I can see he really got the Australian accent down pat. I've seen so many other actors over exaggerate it...but his accent was both very nuanced and accurate to how most Australians sound- for once!
As an Australian I'd just like to say thanks Dev for nailing the accent. It was very well done, could have passed as a real Australian. Not an overdramatic version that most Americans (and the rest of the world) think we actually sound like. Cheers!

But in India there nepotism ☹️, that's. I didn't watch Bollywood , If dev patel is in India then he wouldn't get there where he is now , because of nepotism young talented actor didn't receive chance and some star's get 10 movie even he had 7-8 flop movie...
PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO SEE THIS FILM! There is an amazing message behind it and not only is Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman AMAZING in it, but in my opinion this is Rooney Mara's best performance!
I know everyone talks about him being hot now, but honestly I've had a crush on him ever since he was in Skins. It's so lovely to watch him now and see how far he has come in terms of acting! He truly deserves that Oscar nomination, and I hope he wins
emily dont put in all caps calm down ur probably underage i wanted to comment things cuz im bored lol u should see if dev patel will answer ur prayers and u can watch him in the shower if ur desperate low life camel trotting for truffles "chocolate caramel truffles" saliwanyu. love the p effort and the d effort hope it works out in the shower . and u will rub butter on his dry skin to make him live forever cuz u dont wanna keep living in plain, u just wanna keep calling the dev name till he come back home do u know this song or are u old enough
Aladdin is Middle Eastern not Indian. If a middle eastern guy would have played an indian role in the movie Lion, you have no idea how much they would have been pissed.
Yeah i agree Hispanic and Middle Eastern can go together very well because they almost looks the same, but Indian ethnicity is totally different . Hollywood only pick some really light skin Indians in Hollywood which are actually minority in India. If you would know the real ethnicity of India the majority of it would be like Mindy Kaling, Aziz Ansari, A.R Rehman. Even most of Bollywood Actors and actresses use extreme skin lightening and bleach products to lighten their skin. Google Bollywood actress before after especially most famous Indian Actress Rani Mukherjee, Kajol, Pryanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, Sridevi, Rekha etc. And they all are very pretty ladies but all i'm saying is that they are different from Middle Eastern. And yeah some of the Middle eastern are dark skinned too but that would be more like olive skin color plus the majority of Middle Easterns are like Spanish and Greek. Search Turkish Actors and persians. Plus the role in Social network was not that of main role. I'm talking about main characters like Jungle Book and Alladin.
Dev is such a doll and an amazing actor! I've seen Slumdog, I've seen the two Marigold movies, The Man Who Knew Infinity, and Lion and he truly is incredible. I love his cute little British accent in this clip. I believe it's the first time I've heard it. In his movies he's either had an Indian accent or Australian.
animation Parmar No I'm African, but my mother used to watch an unhealthy amount of Indian movies and eventually I followed suit. Indian movies are actually a huge part of the reason I went into theater.
I know everyone talks about him being hot now, but honestly I've had a crush on him ever since he was in Skins. It's so lovely to watch him now and see how far he has come in terms of acting! He truly deserves that Oscar nomination, and I hope he wins
Dev patel is India's Pride .....we love him to the eternity for his contributions to the artistic scenario and the way he caught grip of the aussie accent is just praiseworthy !!
He is one of the best actor ! I don’t know why Indian media doesn’t talk about him . I saw his movies and I think he is so much perfect than any other actors in Bollywood .
Indian media don't need to talk about him because he's not indian and that's not indian cinema. You think the world is west-Centric and we should follow them. Dear, everyone has their own style of making and they've their own culture to represent, whatever this guy is doing in over their has nothing to do with India. And the Indian media shows Priyanka because she doesn't lose connection with India. This guy not born, raised, persuing career in India only his parents or grandparents are from India, so I can very much say that we have nothing to do with this guy.
LOVED Lion so much! I wish it would win Best Picture at the Oscars. By far my favorite movie I've seen this year and the best movie I've seen in years. Yes, YEARS! MASTERPIECE! ❤❤❤
RoyalBob I just listened to Dev Patel on the Awards Chatter Podcast. I cried when he was talking about filming the scene where Saroo meets his mom for the 1st time. I think about Lion everyday and I keep telling people to watch it.
Teared up more than couple of times watching this film.Agree,A must watch. Lion's message is so important & relevant for today's times. Dev explains it so elegantly. Dev patel was simply superb. & deserves an Oscar in my view.
Is it me or has Dev Patel become far better looking ? I'm curious as to who was the lead in Lion because Dev had the most screentime , the little kid was there for 50 minutes out of the 2 hours so why isn't he in the lead category?
There is a certain minimum screen time required for that category. No actor has the required amount of screen time, so there is no official Lead for Lion.
Thomas Thas I don't think there is a lead necessarily! Dev has been nominated for best supporting actor because of the little boy playing beautifully for the first half of the film, so I not actually think there is a lead.... but I dunno
sometimes studios put the actors in a different category where they have a greater chance of winning. Even though Dev had the leading role, there was no way his work would be noticed in front of performances from Casey Affleck and Ryan Gosling. So they campaigned for Supporting actor. Think of how Alicia Vikander won the Oscar for Supporting Actress for The Danish Girl even though she was clearly the lead or how they nominated The Martian at the Golden Globes as a fucking comedy/musical film. Just the way this business works, mate!
He comes across as such an humble soul,I watched a few interviews and he always comes across so down to earth, never was a fan of his but now I am surely am.
Wow Slumdog Millionaire came out in 2009, time has flown & what a film of conflicting emotions that was, only film of his I've seen but he gives off the impression of a good actor, looks good with the long hair & facial hair
Dev Patel is the ONLY actor I've heard that's ever been able to pull off a convincing natural Aussie accent, his is spot on. Many actors have tried in the past but failed as they end up sounding British instead!
I was actually very impressed by the movie. Amazing story, amazing actors, amazing directing. Just an amazing film! Have to admit, the end of 2016 gave us some pretty damn good films... Hacksaw Ridge, Moonlight, Lion, Manchester by the Sea, La La Land, Silence, Florence Jenkins, what else am I missing?
@Duar Kul It's just same (assume the condition).....Your father from Pakistan went to UK and trying somewhere settle in to raise his children in somewhat they call it the better world...so ultimately his child who's born there, doesn't mean he's not Pakistani. Akshay Kumar's Nationality is Canadian, doesn't mean he's not Indian. Similarly Deepika Padukone was born in Copenhagen doesn't mean she's Danish. I here means Origin of their life cycle. Nothing more than that. Don't get Confuse Origin with Nationality. Dev Patel also said that he's entire his life he tried to shun his Indian heritage, after living and making movies in India he's So proud of his Cultural heritage and really admire his home nation. Fun Fact: Marylin Monroe was Norwegian.
Y'all say he's hot now but I've always had a crush on him, ever since I first saw Slumdog Millionaire. Haven't seen Lion yet but I look forward to watching it. Dev seems like such a kind and humble guy, he really deserves all of his success.
That is the best Australian accent I have ever heard from a foreign actor. If I met him on the street in Sydney I'd assume he'd lived his whole life here. Amazing. Absolutely flawless.
