A warehouse of recycling materials caught fire in Russia’s Volgograd region on Wednesday. “On the territory of a warehouse for processing recyclable materials, in an open area, cardboard is burning over an area of 500 square meters,” press service of Russia’s Ministry of Emergency. More than 60 people and 19 pieces of equipment are involved in the firefighting effort, the ministry said, adding that the fire occurred in the Krasnooktyabrsky district on Bylinnaya Street. Additional information is to be confirmed.
According to local Telegram channels, the fire has reached an area of 1,200 square meters and spread to a nearby one-story reinforced concrete building. Flames have spread quickly due to flammable materials and hot and dry weather. There have been no reports about casualties yet. It should be noted that the fire follows large-scale drone attacks launched by Ukraine across several Russian regions on Tuesday. The attacks mainly targeted Russia’s energy infrastructure.
