Thank you for showing this drone footage of New Smyrna Beach. This is this first I’ve seen coverage for this sweet beach area. Did not know they had this type damage. Many prayers and help to all who have been effected by this. 😔❤🙏

The condos you featured in this video (sea dunes, etc) was where my husband's grandparents lived in the 80s. He said there used to be substantial dunes behind those complexes back then. They provided a much needed buffer between the beach and the properties. It has been eroding for decades.

Five-year winter renter at Errol by the Sea, beachfront. It sickens me to see the devastation along a wonderful, enjoyable area. Neighboring Sea Dunes took such a hit. Loved our daily walks along that beach, will miss it this year. God bless all.

A home on the beach is so nice, but when the ocean gets angry you will pay the price.

Most of not all of the houses destroyed were built before 2003 when the new building codes went into effect.

The sad part is that this place will look about the same for a long time. There will not be any motivation for anyone to come in there and spend the money to demolish what is remaining of those houses and remove them from the ocean front. Have you seen how long some of the abandoned hotels stand rotting before anyone gets a plan together to demolish them? Maybe the ocean will come back in and finish the job.

Sea Rise with climate change will destroy what's left of Florida East Coast beaches..it's inevitable
@nicolewembley3093
@nicolewembley3093 Год назад
The ocean might finish the job, did you notice at high tide there is no beach, and that's after taking away almost 150 feet of natural sand dunes in some areas. They say with Global warming the ocean levels will increase, I am not sure how much proof people need to understand this is happening.

That area has seen a lot of population growth since 2020. Single family homes will bounce back quicker than hotels or condos

That’s Point East- they did ok. Some minor damage to the sea wall and their boardwalk is gone but otherwise good. However, the corner lot and the houses just south of Point East suffered massive erosion. It looks like a sink hole they had to fence off the whole area

Hello, are those Houses in A1A towards Turtle mount ?
@ariseaerial
@ariseaerial Год назад
The majority of this is within a mile of 27th Ave which is central beach. I haven't captured Turtle Mound but maybe I will 🤔. The damage down there is different the beach is ramped and the ocean washed over the dune all the way to the street. That whole area also got flooded from the river side at high tide during the surge.

This was a cat 1 hurricane…with ocean level raising… these residents just lost their investments! Now starts the land grab by corporations to build highrise buildings!

Sometime in the future they will demolish abandoned structures and create a new setback line. It will also include a closing or redesign of the current road system. But I think it will be a long time before all of this happens. It depends if they can find enough money from government and investors to make it happen.
