I love to hear the mythological stories with his powerful illustrations from Devdutt Pattanaik. Two artists I like most. One is Bapu (Telugu). He is no more. Next comes DP. He modernised his illustrations with a tinge of temple sculptures. His interpretation is rational. Basically he is a doctor. Most of his books I have bought. I scored more marks in the Sanskrit Certificate exam (offline) ;my answers were decorated with copies of his illustrations. His brush strokes are following the style of Indian culture especially, the temple art. You may be surprised to know that I am an atheist.

Similarly, most Hindus don't even know The Vedas was written in Punjab, most of the Rigvedic period was heavily concentratd in Great Punjab (Undivided Punjab), Mahabharata happened in Punjab, Mata Sita gave birth to her sons in Punjab, etc. People didn't even know Kashmiri Hindus existed until recently let alone people seem so shocked when I tell them I'm a Punjabi Hindu. Their idea of Hinduism and Hindus is heavily concentrated in the Gangetic plain yet Hinduism only reachd there after the Vedic period. The earliest part of our history and religion was concentrated in the NW and then later spread throughout the subcontinent yet people forget that the earliest descendants (Afghan Hindus, Punjabi Hindus, Kashmiri Hindus) still very much exit and carry on very orthodox Hinduism that will no longer be found in the subcontinent because culture has been heavily admixed into the religion and old ways of practice have been replaced by other ways. The more we learn as a people about not just our regions way of practicing but pan-India, only then can we have a greater understanding and appreciation for each other and the diverse ways in which we carry on dharma and the issues we face as a community.

You are talking with one of the finest writer of modern India, instead of making it more about his writings and his narratives, you making it political and try to create a breaking news out of it.
