Welcome to Power Apps Step by Step Beginner tutorial series. My self Dhruvin Shah you are watching the 9th part of the Power Apps Beginner Series. During this chapter, we will talk about how we can add New Form in Power Apps. We will cover so many businesses cased while we are creating this form.
We will show/hide fields based on conditions. We will make date calculations. We will check the design best practices for Power Apps forms. With that we will build our custom people picker with the help of collection and write our custom save function to submit the form. Upon successful submission of the form, we will notify the user about the submission. We will cover everything in this video.

Finally! A tutorial for power apps that is not based on auto adding images from bing or not referring to the damn contoso thingy. Finally someone bothered to explain in detail where is everything and what it is for! On a separate note, I couldn’t make the collections work, but it takes practice, i guess. Manuel, check your syntax. I had issues too and just had to manually rebuild the expressions and then they worked -- when I realized I was missing a close bracket.

@@iamdhruvinshah Actually sir I am very new in Powerapps and sharepoint, I got a project to create a user form, I have successfully created the form in Powerapps by using sharepoint list, but when I clivk on submit button all the entry is saving to sharepoint list but dropdown value is not saving, Then I researched and I found that I have to use patch function to save dropdown values in sharepoint, but it's not working, Now Please suggest me how can I use patch function with submit form function, Please suggest sir

Hi Dhruvin, Thanks for sharing this. may I ask how did you add attachment height from 320 to 200 pixels? It is a bit unclear at 15.20 in the video due to fast forwarding. Just like how you were unable to edit it in the beginning, I am also not able to edit it despite several tries. Please help!

@@deepikagangeswaran3656 In this case, I will ignore it and put it outside the datacard1. It will be a little irritating because when you edit the app, there still a line of text :"insert to datacard1" but everything works normally. Just ignore that line of text and follow the instruction.

Hi Dhruvin, Thank you for all the tutorials. I'm developing a Leave Application form where I do not want user to submit same days leaves/duplicate leaves. For example, if user has submitted leaves from 1st Jan to 5th Jan, then he should not be able to submit leaves from 3rd Jan to 5th Jan or any overlapping dates between 1st-5th. Can you please help?

I will try again. I have really enjoyed these courses, but I have come up against something that seemed like nothing in your videos. I am trying to work with the two combo boxes: Department and Manager. I have both pasted and typed the fields of the Approver object/table into the forall loop inside the Collect() method. However, the Approver.Department field has an error and will not show up in the ApproversManager collection. When i Type out the schema or structure inside the collect() method items, and type "Approver." the intellisense shows "Department" and I can select it. However, as soon as the cursor leaves the line "Department: Approver.Department," it highlights with the error. "Name isn't valid. This identifier isn't recognized". Nothing like this shows up in your video, so I am curious as to why this is happening. I have spent hours at a time trying to figure this out and would like to know your thoughts on this. If anyone else had this issue and has solved it, i would greatly appreciate knowing how you did it. Thanks.

Hi Dhruvin at somepoint I realised my "Manager" column was text and not choice. I changed it to choice and refreshed the data connection but now my manager data card keeps complaining that it expects a text not choice how do I correct this? Thanks for the great guide.

You need to remove column Create a new column with some new name with Choice column. Refresh DS Add Datacard Again This should now work!

I just wanted to ask i also need hourly leave option in the leave management system .I want to add leave hours like 1 hour or 2 hours and once the hourly hours option is selected i want to disable leave days to be disabled and the value of days should be 0.Please suggest it would be really a big help for me.Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can do that easily. Just add one additional leave type = Hourly Then add a conditional statement on #of Days = IF(drp.selected.value ="Hourly", 0,thisitem.text) Same way add a condition in DisplayMode.

Hello sir, am practising leave application app In screen1 i have add a button apply leave then i will connect with datasource list schema(sharepoint) giving site address and choose the list(leaves ,approvers) again am taking a new scrollable screen then am clicking on form(edit form) it will show out of the canvas am trying it will show inside the canvas(by using cut & paste method) but its not reflecting may i know the reason sir pls help me am new to powerapps

Yes in new ver not any more. You've to add the container under Datacard. Under the Container add the editable form.

Great tutorial. How did you get the fields list (33:35 on the video) for the ForAll items for the Department component. It looked like you just moved your mouse around and they magically copied to the code. I also tried to type these in manually and it highlighted red on the Approver.Department. The error states 'name is not valid. this identifier is not recognized'. However, there is a 'department' field in the test collection we created.

Please delete that column and recreate the column. Add the data card again to Power Apps.

@@iamdhruvinshah Yes i was dhrvin, i followed exactly the steps in the video, for you i see in the powerApps Edit and New form its rendering as required but for me its showing HTML tags

Hi Dhruvin very nice tutorial but I have one query. When you just passing the collection name test to the Approver Manager schema do you apply some specific shortcut key like copy ctrl+c and ctrl+v then six column added added in the people picker. At 33:34. Kindly please help me.

@@nitinj312 You don't need to panic. I also got stuck only you have to copy each and every step as presented by Dhruvin and you got the outcome. Actually I missed to passes the collection name to the manager data card value and once I did it. I got the results.
