Great teaching. Surface area is important when it comes to pressure. Wrapping imparts a natural roll to ground. An opponent cannot impart force without resistance. If you do not resist [instead, relax], then you can absorb/redirect. So, the way you teach, the force is accepted, redirected, and, once redirected and absorbed, their own force rebounds back into their body, allowing your "thrust" or push.

Excellent.i am very happy to see a real wing chun logical way of fighting.it s exactly the same i practice. Of course people who do not practice wing chun think than Adam Chan only block the punch but of course in the same time he will send a punch and a combinaison of seven or ten attack. Thanks to you to show pratical wing chun

My Wing Chun Sifu always made sure when we made contact our little finger touched the opponent. That way we could feel what they we going to do. Started with Chi Sau training, always have the little finger touching.

Thanks Adam! Whats is your interpretation on the principle of wing chun: do not chase hands, chase centre. I mean, in a case like a swing punch, do we need to break this rule and while going in, chase the punch coming to your side?
@adamchankungfu
@adamchankungfu 6 лет назад
dont chase the hands, hit the center, check his arm if u need to , the clip is just about the check itself, and i didnt go into the hitting part

When you say throw, you mean throw it like a punch? A wrapping punch?

Ok. Your mantra is, it doesn't matter!! You're good, but I would like to see you driving pain into an attack. I would like to see something different than what I know. Good training.

didnt watch the whole video yet but 0:15 wouldnt it be better to do a tan sao and turn your body into it? cause a punch like that can create a massice force, and while your doing it you can to a hook with your arm edit: or if you wanna be on the secure side, turn your body left, your lef thand does tan sao and the right hand does bong sao, both against his arm, his arm wont work anymore after that and you should be able to handle any punch

Okay Monica... Tan sao is fine, but it is harder to apply than what Adam does, you gonna have to train really hard to do disperse a round punch, especially under pressure. Tan sao can also easily bounce off the guy's hand, that's why the video's method is better. And no....... no......, do not bong and tan towards a punch, you would receive the entire force from the round punch and get knocked down.

How is this a beginners class? Lolol. Spiraling combined with the wrap is how I throw horizontal punches. With the focus of the top two knuckles.
