Here in the United States, where there is a reported rape every 6.2 minutes, and one in five women will be raped in her lifetime. USA ranks 24th , sweden ranks in top 10 while INDIA ranks 94th behind CANADA with a rape rate of 1.8 per 100,000.

@@GemsOfIndianRight While I like your sentiment and applaud it, we all know that the data is of reported matters only. Also see that in India sadly marital rape is not counted yet. Indeed this should not be happening anywhere at all, but I feel the job of the media to be as sensitive about it (unlike in the main video) yet keep bringing it to light. I will agree that no country should be teaching another anything. One is as bad as a 100 so no one has a higher ground here.

@@GemsOfIndianRight Do you realize that there is more stigma in India about reporting rape. In India - marital rape is NOT a crime so it is not counted in those stats. Please don't keep using the same OLD numbers comparing India to other countries because a) as you said, even 1 crime is a problem but b) comparing where India is on the list shows our priorities are wrong we are more concerned with 'How can they teach us anything' it means your ego is more important. These countries have people with extensive training for sexual assault investigation, fast prosecution, comprehensive definition of sexual assault and not just penetration by penis, and less stigma everyday about rape - they CAN teach us something.

Honestly it's not the laws it's the people. The change has to come from the grassroot level. In the defence of the police there is too many cases to settle to begin with and rape isn't like murder where the evidence stay put because there is constant movement after the event. Why can't india bring in tougher punishments like in Singapore? Seems like China is doing better than india.
