I think you may be right but I hope this does t happen. It would make a great storyline with just Paxton and Devi figuring out their relationship and what that looks like without Ben butting in.

@@theshamrockdolls9909 Ben almost kissed her, TWICE, at the party… yet when she fell into the pool he just stood there with his gf. And even when Paxton helped her out, Ben didnt rush to check up on her. Instead he went to make out with his gf lol. I think it was rather clear Ben’s character had this plot of ‘I’m gonna bully you so hard you’ll never assume I like you’ so we cant say that he didn’t help her after the coyote attack cause they were “enemies”. In fact, it makes more sense for Ben to step up and help her rather than Paxton. She was much closer to Ben at the time considering all she had going with Paxton was the “have sex with me” thing. The only times Ben actually showed he cares were when he drove her to Malibu and fixed her situation with her friends, then the bathroom scene after Paxton rejected her. Otherwise I think Ben just crushed on her since she was basically the only girl that looked his way. The fact she matched his intelligence was just a bonus, not the main factor in my opinion. Because he switched to the next girl that gave him attention (Aneesa) right away, and no I doubt its because she’s the closest he could get to having someone like Devi, cause clearly he had the banter with Aneesa, but she didn’t match his intelligence and competitive like Devi did.

THIS ^^^ i noticed while watching that devi always sees paxton in a romatic sort of light (like thinking hes hot, seeing him shirtless etc) plus good banter between the both which we got to see them both grow to be better people bc of each other. with ben that "romantic" sort of light never was shown on him and she would always just mention how they have witty banter. they're def better off as friends. not to mention ben only wanted her back after seeing paxton with her at the dance #teampaxton

yesss to this!! I've been rewinding trying to understand how/why Paxton fell for her. Her standing up for herself at the end (vs any other girl who'd just say yes to be with him, even in secrecy) I think really confused him. LOVE this for her.

Tv shows and movies love to go down the predictable, boring, safe route by bringing the main girl back to the “nice guy” or “nerdy guy” - once she learns the “jock” she had a crush on is one-dimensional and a douchebag and an airhead. I hope NHIE doesn’t do that and let’s Devi and Paxton stay in their relationship, because they have developed Paxton’s character and given him an arc.

This is amazing writing when they can make you truly sympathetic / rooting for both characters. I feel the same.

When did Paxton ever really act like a douche? He was always there for Devi when she was at her lowest. Coyote bite? Paxton rushes to her side and takes her to the hospital. Also takes a pic with her and posts it. Fell into the pool? Paxton pulls her out and drives her home. Let people think theyre having sex? Paxton gets reasonably upset and betrayed yet only calls her out to her face and doesnt correct the rumour. He was intrigued by her from the moment she ran out of his garage after feeling his chest and he befriended her after seeing how kind she was to his sister. Paxton was a goddamn Prince in season 1 and a Saint in season 2. The only time he may have acted like a "douche" in season 1 was after Devi's mom unnecessarily ripped into him and his intelligence. He iced Devi out after that because wtf...her mom was incredibly rude and made him feel even worse about himself. Maybe he thought, hmm she's right, let me not screw up this girl's life since she so obviously has a future and I'm just an idiot. Maybe he was embarassed that Devi agreed with her mother. That scene was incredibly callous, no wonder he wanted to hide from Devi after. I wouldn't call that douche behaviour. He wasn't even mean to her. He still politely talked to her when she asked. @@ChenaiS-nx8ki with his emotional intelligence. He calms her, he has the same calming effect that Mohan (her father) has on her, also he validates her and makes her actually feel heard, like when he asked her if she’s okay after fights w/ her friends or why she went close to the coyote.
