Love this little speaker!! Literally sounds like I have some 6-inch Bose 201 speakers in the size of less than one, and the fact that it's portable, means the world to me.
As someone who has bought far too many BT speakers, I would rate this one of the best sounding. In fact, at right placement I thought it does sound like full floor standing speakers. Very clear vocals and rich bass. Meaty sound without the typical vocal fog common in BT speakers. It’s Achilles’ Heel however is in its slow latency even in Apple Play. When paired with other speakers, it’s a quite a few MS slower and creates echo. Perfect speaker (for its size and portability) on its own but terrible if you want to integrate it into multi speaker plays. Nett nett I still have no regrets buying it but you have to weigh your use case carefully. PS: I have a Sonos system and it doesn’t play well with them. Nor do they work with Dynaudio wireless system.
I think the whole idea is to "encourage" customers to stick to one brand/system, which is understandable, but of course not ideal. But yes, I thought the Mania was very good for its size!
They've actually released firmware updates to fix the latency issues you speak of. I've communicated with their customer service reps and have had this issue fixed.
I personally dont find the speaker to be too heavy i have a gravastar mars pro bluetooth speaker and it weighs more then the devialet mania a whopping 0.4 pounds more then the devilaet mania and the speaker in it of itself is 1 active 2.5 inch full range speaker and 1 backfiring passive bass radiator. that speaker weighs 0.4 pounds more and only has 1 active speaker while the devilaet Mania has 4 4 inch full range aluminum drivers 4 microphones and 2 3 inch passive bass radiators, the fact that it weights less then a speaker with 1 active speaker is actually quite a feat in it of itself to the average guy 5 pounds is very light
Sound quality and loudness on this vs a Sonos Five? I know it should be compared to a Sonos move but for it's price and hifi capabilities I'm asking this.
Good for listening to music, not so good for watching streaming videos. The Mania doesn't have an AUX input, so there's no option to connect directly. When watching videos while connected to a Windows device, the sound will be out of sync with the video. Devialet is aware of this sound latency but has no plan to correct it.
Devialet Mania is designed for wireless audio experiences and does not support playing music directly from a wired source like a computer via its USB-C port, which is solely for charging. However, you can stream music stored on your computer to the Devialet Mania using Wi-Fi. For instance, if you have an Apple device, you can use AirPlay to connect and stream your music. Additionally, if you use TIDAL, you can play music from your computer using the Devialet Air application.
Question : Is it worth it? Answer : for $800 … Hell NO!…. There are other speakers out there, yes they might be a little bigger, but are more durable, waterproof and cost 1/4 or less than that ball speaker! They sound as good or at least comparable!
I would not recommend anyone to buy this speker. Did all the Internet research on the product before buying and came across a lot of ppl saying Devialet has Bluetooth issues and connectivity. This turns out to be very true, from day one it keeps dropping Bluetooth and powering off. Sound is amazing great bass but what's the point listening to music only for the speker to drop off after a few minutes. DON'T BUY it will save you the disappointment!
@@JoeGillian0 I did and I spent days talking to Devialet customer service. Good for listening to music, not so good for watching streaming videos.
