+Holly Knight We used to listen to your album while driving on vacation from Texas to Colorado. The songs are so great. I never understood why many of these didn't make it to the top. I think it must have been lack of exposure. It certainly wasn't lack of talent. They are timeless. Still great to listen to 30 years later.
The sad part about Device is they never had a chance to get any traction. Great musicians, singers and song writers. A crying shame as they were much more talented than many bands that hit it big at that time.
There were too many bands like them at the time. They were competing against Animotion, Romeo's Daughter, Eurythmics and various bands produced by David Foster and Robert Mutt Lange.
Agreed t a pint…as I have their first album then, and I’m a big glam, hard melodic Rocker, but like the English invasion of the 80’s , Aussie bands.. of course, that singer went to Animotion…there hit! @@matthewprince9705
Damn, I didn't realize that this was Holly Knight, she's a heavy hitter in the songwriting department, and she's hella gorgeous. I wish this band would've got more airplay.
Holly Knight was an east coast killer queen on the keys! If I were doing session work in the 80s, I'd have done anything for a chance to work with her. She can rip, she can write, and she can dance! She seems to be a pretty cool person as well.
I'm grew up in the 80's only recently heard of this band.....man this band is awesome love all their music.....and this guy can really sing....wish i could relive the 80's .
My two year old would walk around the house singing the chorus of this song back in ‘86….Who who who says! It just came up in my feed right now. Thanks for the great memory RU-vid! ❤
У меня тоже была эта группа в 1988году, Россия раньше находила хорошую неизвестную музыку и в студиях мы с восхищениях переписывали и вырубали на полную на улице в колонки S90
It's the best song I've ever heard, I was born in 1985 but I would have loved to be a teenager in the 80s, an American teenager would have been even better
I remember hearing the song Hanging on A heart Attack from Device in the mid 80's. As a young soldier getting station in West Germany I was always trying to keep up with them. Some of the best music came from the 80's and Device one of those bands who should have been top 20. 💝💝
Thanks mom and dad for playing this album during your house parties when I was sleeping in my bedroom as a 4 year old, then g😮rew up knowing the words to all these songs.
Holly Knight and anyone else from Device, who follows these RU-vid posts, I am a child of the 80's and NEVER heard of you or your band. And I AM PISSED!!! You are all amazing. I just happened to stumble on your videos and music and I am HOOKED. I am really upset I missed you in your hey day, but just SUPER EXCITED, I found you now. Went to I Tunes and bought your album and have not stopped pause, since. Love You, and wish you all well!! Keep Rockin'
I spent many years in the late 80’s and early 90’s programming top 40 radio stations. We played the crap out of this song as well as Holly Knight’s song Heart Don’t Fail Me Now. I absolutely wanted her to make it big!!!!
I really miss to heard this song... It was so many years than i don't listened! 'Who Says' was played already in Brazil on the 80's, but... Was forgot on the time! To me, it's badass still today!
Still a good song. Used to listen to this song over and over again for a long time. Thought it was a metal band till I saw it here recently. Before that, have completely lost track of song title and name of band, and took me 25 years to figure out. Dame!!
it means the simple fact, that there are a lot more rare actors who never really broke thru like other ones did. if you watch it through the retroperspective you can find many pearls. did you get it? ^^
I loved this song in the 80s. I just heard One of The Living from the Max Max Beyond Thunderdome movie and wanted to know who wrote it. Turns out Holly Knight is a very accomplished singer/songwriter. Not because she won a Grammy, but because she has written some good songs. I still live this song. I'm listening to it in August 2017.
The night is warm and my body wrecked And the hair stands up on the back of my neck Oh yeah it's in my hand and we shouldn't stop But before I took the last shot something in my head went to It doesn't matter what you say How can you hope to hide away Weren't we looking for the same thing ? Who, who, who says it's not that easy to walk away from you Who, who, who says it's not that easy to walk away from you And if we take this temporary tumble in the dark Don't reach for the hammer, don't hit me in the heart Breathe deep like a beast when you're rockin' my device Set loose like an animal... Just another sacrifice Then you ran wild through the streets with your wheels on fire And the last thing you needed was to see me turn around And say no ! It doesn't matter what you say How can you hope to hide away Weren't we looking for the same thing ? Who, who, who says it's not that easy to walk away from you Who, who, who, says it's not that easy to walk away from you (Watch me walk) It doesn't matter what you say How can you hope to hide away Weren't we looking for the same thing ?
Holly Knight did GREAT WORK, made her best! Every song is a little piece of gem... Who knows how many more hits they would have been produced before 80's ended.. Such an unfare and sad story in music history...
Truth. He just stands there like a statue, therefore proving that it's not that easy to walk away from you. Must be the leather chaps constricting things. All kidding aside Holly, I loved this album back in the day and it still has a place in my collection. Thank you!
Wow! First time i actually see the chick in the band. She's astoundingly gorgeous! She's by far one of the most beautiful babes i actually admire. Great band, awesome music!
I don't think I've ever heard a Mike Chapman production that wasn't cool and good. A good Songwriter and Producer all in one. Hope he does more before all is said and done.
