Not to be a downer, but some people are just born socio/psychopathic. They have a perfect life that others would kill for, but instead of thriving in that environment, they choose to be evil against those who weren't as privileged as the psychopath. Just a little life lesson I've learned over the 35 years on this "god"-forsaken planet.

@@marz.6102 nothing. People can be socio/psychopathic and there's nothing wrong with that. It becomes wrong if/when they act out/go through with "evil" behavior, like killing someone. Not sure if you know this, but lots of famous people are probably sociopaths and you wouldn't even know, because they know how to manipulate others to get what they want. It's just a facade. I wouldn't consider them to be "in a world of their own," at least not until they get what they wanted from others.

I went to school with these boys. I am nothing but happy that they are doing so well. I remember looking at the lead singer standing on a rock in the shitty quad we had, just looking up to the sky. We went to 4 rainbow shows that year.

I think he's referring to his devil, the devil in him. Being an addict you don't want or intend to hurt others and you think why is everyone so sad I'm only hitting myself but when u aren't the u that maybe u could be or deserve to be without substances in the picture it hurts those who love and care about u the most, so that's the devil in me, that's how I see it

Been going through a lot. Not being able to be in my little man’s everyday life. Having the person I considered closest to me flip a switch and just treat me like I’ve never meant anything to her. Replaced me with the first guy who didn’t ghost her within a week of kicking me out… I can’t thank this band enough for coming into my life at the right time. It was a dark 7 months, and somehow this music has brought a sense of peace I haven’t had in what feels like forever.

I’ve been through the most horrific indescribable things. This song encapsulates how I feel. The depression and anxiety are putting me through hell. I can’t seem to get past the trauma that happened to me as a child, it completely shaped my brain and life for the worse. I’m a 22 year old dude now and to be honest suffering is all I’ve ever known. The loneliness is slowly turning into hate and bitterness which I know only makes me a worse person. I just can’t seem to stop it. Like I’ve never had nobody so I just rot away in my bedroom, I couldn’t tell you the last time I touched another human it’s been many years. I’m trying to do good but it never feels like enough. The constant dissociation has a way of numbing me to the good stuff. Man I feel ridiculous writing this however at the same time I don’t care because what have I got to lose… nothing.

I understand this. Though I’m considerably older than you, I’ve been through quite a bit as well and I realize how debilitating depression and anxiety can be. Medication has helped me some in coping. Therapy can also help greatly. It’s awesome and brave of you to share here what you’re experiencing. I think if more people were open and vulnerable about how they really feel and what they deal with, it can also help a lot of other people feel not so alone in their struggles. Hang in there man and hopefully you can get connected with a counselor or something for some additional sources to help! You’re still young with your whole life ahead of you and things CAN and WILL get better! It just takes time and effort. Don’t give up! Wishing you the best! ❤

Apart from the explicit theme in the video 'Alcoholism', the beauty of this song lies in the fact it can be interpreted to many meanings, depending on the listener and their standpoint. It can even be even brought down to its literal interpretation about the Devil. Come to think about it, the Devil didn't mean to be evil in the first place, and He did fail to exceed the expectation it was set for him, "the perfect true agent of God." ( I came to this interpretation as i was traveling by train while listening to this song lol.. It really made me think.)

I know people are commenting a bunch of different things and how amazing this band because of how unique this band's name is, this song speaks to an addict, as someone who is an alcoholic struggling to kick this addiction in the butt, it really speaks to you, the lyrics, melody, tone of the song...its heart wrenching really, and i dont expect anyone to understand other than the ones struggling the same situation, please comment and talk to me, i'd appreciate it, it'd help, and im sure this would help others...i sometimes hate myself

With this comment I can already tell you are too good to hate yourself but also know you are to aware to not know people could always be better. Know that we all think that (assuming all people are inherently good but may have lost their way) but you are obviously caring and observant of emotional beings and that is a burden. That burden means you are stricken with a lot on your plate and probably care more about people around you than yourself. In your small comment I can tell you care too much and in this world that will make you feel small. Your words are so beautifully authentic that I would get aggressively supportive about how hating yourself is the opposite of the gift you obviously give to the beauty you see and you deserve to know you are too.

Finally found a comment I can relate to... On going battle with a "cult" covert narcissist .. soon to be.. ex husband and his covert narcissist mom.... have a 3 year old in the middle and they lie and ... it is all just some really sick stuff... I sit with it and do my best... His mom is so much of it... Sad thing is I will never know if he knows her lies or if they set me up.. again.. but it wouldn't matter, he lies too... just alot of loaded betrayal and sick stuff... anyway, point is you're not alone... Stay with me and don't give up.... for your child, but for yourself too. We deserve peace. If not now, in our life sometime, we deserve real true peace... even if we are alone on our own... Oh and point of relating to this song..... His mom said I was the devil and did the devils work.. they have justified their actions and if they couldn't, made me a liar... It is so much.. Thier true self was shown to me and no one else had ever seen it.. His mom wants her son and our daughter to her own.. It sounds insane bc it is.. It is too much. If someone reads this and wants to know more just ask... bc it is good for me to talk about it, but then it starts messing with my nerves and now I will just wait. Maybe someone will see this and need it in thier life.. Covert narcissism is real and sick. Sociopathic, brainwashing.... manipulation and leaves you empty. Ironically, I found myself in the sick maddness. I accept who I am, my past and all. Bc I don't have to hide who I am and I dont care if everyone likes me or not. I know I am kind and genuine.
