The shaders and particle effects stand out more in light flare to me for DMC 5 though. It's the smaller details that make the impact. Also Rebellion does not look comically large.

@@VelvetVelva yea i agree with that To give credit to 4, the effects for a lot of the attacks were generally better, like the fire effects for Nero’s EX moves and the burst of air from Vergil’s summoned swords

Yeah, honestly I don't mind the effect changes too much but the problem definitely rears its head when playing Nero, because ngl I don't feel like I'm doing half of the damage I actually am, because he just doesn't have the oomph. Kinda why I choose super Nero more than I do regular nero

Absolutely. I still have the memories burned into my mind of Dante's rebellion always having a red and black colour when he did stuff, it looked so kickass.

Imo thats because DMC 5 has a more realistic approach. DMC 4 much like the ones before had an anime asthetic, more vibrant colors and so on.

I believe that, and correct me if I’m wrong, DMC3 or 4 (I don’t remember) was the first game in the franchise to use mocap. Obviously though, if they used it for 3, the tech would have made leaps and bounds over the four years. It’s why the animations look so good, because it’s a real person (almost definitely) a fight choreographer or stunt person doing the movements.

I've actually seen quite a few people say that. It's known that they had to tone down some mechanics and effect in favour of the more realistic style, but I'd say they made quite a good compromise between power and realism.

completely understandable and i think they did a fantastic job with blending realism with fiction for DMC5. In a way i think those majorly subtle differences is what makes me like each of them more for their own respective reasons. Two sides of the same coin I’d say? 🤷🏾‍♂️

It's mostly katakana, so it's pretty much just an easternized way of saying the title in english

I think at least for me they made a big mistake making dmc5 look too realistic as it clashes with the overall feel of devil may cry to me and the character designs especially. I like 4 much better as the characters don’t look ugly as hell and the game looks more colorful alive.

I actually never liked how DMC4 was so anime with all these whacky proportions and flashy effects. DMC1-3 weren't as anime in my opinion. When DMC5 was first revealed, many people said it looked really really different from the other games, but in my opinion it looked closer to my vision of a DMC than DMC4 ever did to me. Even now I think DMC4 looks the most out of place in the franchise.

I didn't know people were hating on DMC5. See, I have been playing DMC since the first one on release for the PS2. I've put more time into playing all the DMC games than any other game(s), and I've played many games for 100+ hours. DMC5 is hands down the best DMC game. DMC4 felt very floaty to me. It was harder to master as well due to some of the insane mechanics (which I don't believe were implemented intentionally by the developers, like inertia jump cancelling and such). DMC5 is more impactful and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to jump cancel multiple air combos any more. Which I've also seen people complain that jump cancelling is too easy in DMC5 (lol makes no sense).

@@TypicallyUniqueOfficial Jump cancelling has been in the series since DMC 1. 3-5 simply refined it. Inertia was natural as you drifted in the direction you attacked which 5 would've benefited from. 4 main problem is that it required perfect inputs most of the time, thus you're punished heavily when you make a mistake. 5 eases up on that while still having the same skill ceiling.

It's not a Dante age thing, it's just an extra little touch they gave the game, if you pressed the attack button then you definitely wanted to hit something, be it a red orb thingie or a demon

If you just pressed your sword button or summoned one of V's demons, that means you wanted to attack something. Why would the game put your sword back instantly if that was the case??? It's honestly a very simple yet a pretty cool touch

@ファントム武田 DmCは銃のアクションをちゃんと使えば神ゲーですよ！特にリコショの微拘束、ボムの浮かし、ケブの返しの要素はDMC5にも欲しかったレベル。あとコンボのしやすさは大切だと思いますよ。ハードル下げて新規勢を導入する為に シリーズでは3が1番好きだけど名倉は2番目に好きくらいには評価高いですね

Also with DMC5 Dante he faces all his swords (rebellion, DSS and DSD) flat where DMC4 Dante has visual effects from Rebellion where the sword look vertical which looks nicer.

Camera works differently in both games

@@dingdonger5231 So? In DMC4, specially in BP mode, you can easily move the camera around your character. Nothing stops you from making it face Dante.

From a gameplay perspective that's only when used in Gunslinger, if used in the other styles it functions like in previous games.

Without real impact + distortion he is weak af compared to dmc 5 gameplay wise.

I disagree. In certain scenes where Dante is in natural lighting (like the one use in the video) it may look muted. But when you get to the tree (and even in the very first mission) you can see how amazing the colors are and so vivid.
