I never practiced Exceed on its own really, it just came naturally from playing DMC4 (and I played a LOT) I really do think that as you practice and keep trying your best in combat, even though it may feel like the mechanic is holding you back now, eventually it'll click and feel like an afterthought. It really is worth it to just keep grinding it out. As for practicing it, once the full game is out the training mode should definitely help with that. You can practice it by just swinging at air as well but it's always more fun to practice stuff on an actual enemy. So yeah, just keep at it, practice every day and it will come natural with time.

@@Daedron12 Alright, thanks. Yeah it should definitely be more fun to do in training mode. Swinging in the air is a bit boring and resetting the demo constantly, having to sit through loading screens, is annoying. :p

My guess is taht at the end of the demo only 3 fights + boss are considered ranked. 1st encounter, hell cainas and hotel. so no point to waste time on other fights if you're after rank

The way style rank is calculated at the end is that it is the average of all your fights. The optional fights dont last long enough to get very high scores on so your average will drop if you do them. The boss also gives a huge boost to style and the more fights you did prior the less this boost will be. I do the tentacles and the Red Orb enemy because that fight gives a very high style score which is good for your average. In the full game the optional fights might be worth more because of higher HP and tougher enemies in general in those fights.

No, it's an average. The points you see everytime you finish a fight is the amount of points you have at THAT MOMENT. So the points you see during the cutscene when you beat Goliath is your current score, and since it's the end of the mission also your end score. Being stylish on Goliath does give you a lot of style points though, to the point that your average before you fight him doesn't matter nearly as much as it should (but that's because the demo doesn't have that many fights). When it comes to maxing your score, every single fight is important.

@@Daedron12 I multiply the stylish points I get at the end of the Goliath by 1.5 and it give me the exact same score. Maybe in the full game all fights will be important but for now only the Goliath fight is the one that determines your final style points. I noticed that when I purposely did terrible fights of below 5000 and then when all out on Goliath all my other fights were A's but I defeated with almost 7000 stylish points and received a S rank with left me with a doubt because the average of my stylish points should be in the high mid 4000s and it was 6947 multiplied by 1.5 which gave me 10,435. That made believe that Goliath is the fight that matters because I guess it the only fight the devs wanted to rate the players by in the demo. In the full game it will most likely be that every fight matters.

@@finalfrontergaming I don't think you get me, the style score you see throughout the level is your CURRENT style score. So the style score you see at the end of the Goliath fight is indeed your final score because it's the final battle (minus any multiplications), but it's based on all your fights during the level. If you get SSS throughout the entire demo then kill Goliath with just gunshots (sticking to D/C rank max) you will still get S end-rank.

You just gotta time it well and input quickly, you're probably being too slow with the 2nd calibur input.

All on default, I only switched the shoot button to R2 so I can always hold it down.
