@@fallenangeldraco3778 While Balrog feels fast and agile, Beowulf feels slow but strong and every hit have weights that impact the players. I would choose Balrog for a fun, fast gameplay but if I want to feel like each hit land has an impact and feel strong, I would choose Beowulf
@@danteirish445I doubt they were talking about that... his kicks total at five in base form and seven(I think) in Sin form without the extra (Rising Sun) kicks, and with the Rising Sun kicks it seven and nine respectively
This is a great guide! One thing you missed is the ability to “just charge” many of the attacks by releasing the attack button the moment it lights up. The easiest way to tell if you correctly just charged an attack is by a louder audio cue for attacks. if you are in the void you’ll notice the higher damage.
I have not played Vergil yet so I wasn’t sure if that mechanic was in 5 as well. But dude it’s one of my favorite mechanics ever. As well as the just judgment cuts, perfect blocks with Dante , table hopper and perfect buster with Nero. It’s the most fun I’ve gotten out of a video game and is so easily overlooked by most people.
@@nelsonrodriguez374 I love trying to get "just charge" when I'm training with him in the void. It's really satisfying and trying to get that third perfect charge before using SDT at the same time is just beautiful.
@@windghost2 You can get the clone out to help tell if your just charge timings are correct If it does the just judgement cut Usually that is the perfect time for beowulf just charge

@@jerrelllawrence4787 heck yeah I absolutely get where you're coming from. Devil may cry 4's combat is good,but the level design and enemies never sat well with me and makes it hard to play it. In the other hand I love level design and enemies in 5. It's always fun to play and I wouldn't mind playing as Vergil for all twenty levels (especially since the other half of the game isn't the same ten levels backwards)
Balrog and beowulf are both my favourite weapons, idk it just feels good when Dante does quick jabs and gets on fire then turns to kicks. Same with virgil's beowulf it's so satisfying to use.
How strong are the boys? Yeah, we know they are magically and physically powerful, they have put an end to multiple world threatening powerhouse monsters but, when it comes to physical brute strength, plot armor asides, how strong are they suposed to be? Vergil doesn't truly display brute strength but I dont think thats something he has to worry about if it becomes necessary, Dante doesn't seem to have any struggle when it comes to strength, he also casually swings and juggles his wacky wohoo motorcycle and Nero surely abuses of his physical strength and has no problem displaying it, slamming a rocket powered big metal chunk into the floor with one hand not really struggling with recoil in red queen combo b max act, at this point it doesn't matter if he is even lefty to say that's his dominant hand or not (lol I was about to say his strong hand BUUUT...), even without devil bringer he just backflips into kicking away a car hurled at him like nothing, punches goliath like a sand bag and I believe kicks him into the air, the guy must be like 2 or 3 elephants and yet Nero manages to hurl him away... I'm starting to believe the game underpowers them for challenge, difficulty and gameplay, the way their attitudes and personalities are displayed, they could say they are canonically limiting themselves in order to actually have a challenge, Dante, Vergil, Nero, even Urizen, they might be thinking if they get serious the destruction will be even worse and way too counterproductive, specially if you intend to save, rule, invade or harvest THE WORLD, there wont be any world left to fulfil the objective
I guess we also have to remember Dante can block Nero's devil bringer with his mere hands and even meth Vergil was able to toy with Nero like a tiger with it's prey and rip off the arm, this is crazy, the guy who can juggle three elephants is the weak and the one that never displays his strength might be the strongest one actually?!?!?!?!
Real Impact was seriously nerfed in this DMC,so yeah dragon breaker does a lot more damage,i can't say for sure but around 2 to 3 times more than real impact
My take is to goto the void and fight one (turn on enemy action and their damage). He has 3 separate poses that will dictate what attack pattern he is going to to. 1) walks slowly towards you and extends his claw - I've counted it to he approximately 1 second (I mentally say 1 Mississippi) and then I start attacking (yamato combo a or even lunar phase) 2) crouches down and extends his claw - this one he disappears and rushes you immediately. Once he disappears start attacking (again I used yamato combo a or lunar phase) 3) this one he dashes to the side and then teleports around a couple of times then attacks. I haven't found a great counter for this. I usually jump and aerial rave b with yamato (the one where he spins upward) or try an aerial lunar phase. This last move is my most hated. Hopefully this helps somewhat. And good luck!
Good guide ! But you forget 2 variations of moves on SDT for Kick 13 when he really do 13 kicks with Rising Sun include, and Starfall when after having crashed on the ground it can go up in the air diagonally by kicking ( sry if my english is not perfect I'm french x) )
I got to try the game for two days in a friend's Xbox and for the super moves you need SDT AND Level 2 concentration Either that or I missed the input 10+ times in a row
What, bringer knuckles isn't Enough?? I used 2 talk with the modders about making devil bringer moveset using different animation sequence of attack, still have debate for it months ago....
@@brandongerow4727 well honestly, i agree with you that it must serve as gauntlet and grieves but, i find it peculiar that nero rarely use kick attack besides rainbow "dropkick" attack as People describe it....
5:30 the kick hit with the claws, as they have 3 claws, it count for 3, they hit 4 times making it 12 total, then it end with an upercut kick with the talon of his foot that count for 1 so 13
I feel as people don't like Beowulf because they switch around weapons without thinking, and when they switch to try and get closer to teleport, they dona close range attack and get stuck
You forgot one more detail Just releasing a charge It works just like judgement cut If you release the button just as the weapon flashes as you charge The charge level will i think jump to one more level There is even a charge level 3 plus when you just release such with a charge level 3 SDT Dragon Breaker The timinge are almost 1 to 1 with just judgement cuts if you get the clone out That is my form of training Get the clone out Charge and just release If the clone does a normal judgement cut, you mistimed the just release for beowulf If the clone does the just judgement cut, that is the perfect timing of just release
Did you know that the yamato is the cornerstone of vergil's combos and therefore the clone only had the yamato because it is an all arounder and supports you with judgment cut behind every attack, even with mirage or beowulf. so i found out that Beowulfs attacks like yamato can be released. In other words: let go of the meele button exactly then when beowulf lights up and you do even more damage. works with all three charging levels and you get a very satisfying sound acoustically. with doppelganger the doppelganger even makes a perfect JC and it looks like vergil is shooting the cuts with his fists, which is not so absurd from the logic. Ah and If u let vergil sheet his sword ,lets say at the end of 'rising star' u get a lot of DT . Rising star and the void slash gives u the biggest boost for DT.
Always like to pull out the Beowulf when dante busts out the balrog and own him, loved the color, the look and vergils and dantes moves with the Beowulf ever since dmc3, he should've taken some moves from dante in dmc3 (like that move where dante punches like 1000 times then smash? The rising dragon super kick spin in the air, a regular slam and the projectile shot)would've been unique and beneficial for vergil in this game , dante was more versatile with Beowulf. I damn love the model they gave for the Beowulf weapon set in dmc 5! BEOWULF IS KING
Tip: for the weird tentacal cow thing enemy, whenever it spawns or is idle, solid combo to quickly break the armor is a lvl 2-3 charge shoryuken into the lunar assault Arial kick into the down air kick, idk the names

Are you a _spoon?_ DNC's in the Void, the game's training mode, if you will. You can lock Vergil's Concentration to which ever level you want, toggle infinite SDT and plain DT, all in the Void.

Hey, can you tell me how you can use both the heavy rain swords and the charge at the same time? Cuz it seems that both moves are bounded to the face buttons.
You start the heavy rain swords mpve early e.g. whil3 heading/jumping towards an enemy. Then you hold the charge attacks, while holding the triangle/Y you just gotta input direction of heavy rain swords then tilt your thumb to press square/X, it's all thumb reflex/mobility from there.
any chance for some mirage blade tips and tricks? I can't seem to get heavy rain/storm/blistering blades to come out reliably. I can easily use the melee "flick" moves but for some reason the mirage blade ones won't work. When do I press/release the button to get them out?
@@naighto7846 Don't leave out the luxuries Yamato has over other weapons. Heck, as of this game and the Vergil DLC, Vergil can now do Helmbreaker (called Aerial Cleave) with Yamato.
My combo for beo is simple, air trick to close gap forward attack for the spinning kick attack attack pause attack close in with air trick light uppercut into a lv1 charge uppercut air trick forward attack attack attack attack attack back forward attack air trick max level upper cut into an attack to get the full shoryuken air trick forward attack and attack and finish with a back forward attack and into force edge attack attack pause attack into stinger air trick high roller air stinger air trick high roller into attack swap to Yamato attack attack attack pause attack air trick high roller attack attack pause attack attack back attack or air trick if you didn’t get the pause attack attack attack pause attack air trick back attack charge into judgement cut preferably x2 if you can get it or go ham with the x4 if you can get that consistently and judgement cut end or airtrick into back attack back to beo and forward attack
