At first I was a bit unsure of the voice of Dante hair but the second I heard jackpot I was completely sold I could also be wrong about this but I think they're going to be adapting the Devil May Cry 3 manga to an extent the White Rabbit we see towards the end of the trailer was a key player in the Devil May Cry 3 prequel manga which means the First season my end with a Virgil reveal

Dantes voice is like that because this is well before dmc 3 so he's pretty young

Was feeling 50/50 about this. Then I saw Adi Shankar would be at the helm so it got up to 80/20. Pretty optimistic about this project after the work he did with the first two seasons of Castlevania.

So, I just wanted to piece together a small theory about how they’re gonna do this anime. This anime is probably gonna work how the OG one did, with Dante going on jobs and the bigger plot unfolding from those jobs. Some interesting things to note: Dante is now in New York City and not the fictional Redgrave City we see in the games. It appears that Enzo shows up at one point. I assume he’s the short guy standing behind Dante in that one shot. We see Dante fighting Echidna from Devil May Cry 4 (in the burning building scene) which is…odd, to say the least. We see Dante carrying a little girl in the diner shot, which I assume is Alice from the Devil May Cry 3 manga. For those who don’t know, Alice was a Demon who looks like a little girl. She worked with Arkham to try and lure Dante into a trap to take his Amulet. A massive portal appears in one shot, which I assume is near the end of the season. But that’s also odd because if that’s supposed to be the Temen-Ni-Gru then it doesn’t make any sense for it to come from the sky. Dante shoots at a vampire looking Demon at one point. At first, I was a little bummed since I thought this confirmed the Castlevaina connection, but now that I look closer, it’s obvious that it’s just Arkham disguised as Jester (note the heterochromic eyes, the white face, and purple touches of color on him). Obviously, Arkham also appears at the very end with his Mad Hatter disguise. Near the end of the trailer, we see Dante with the front of his shirt completely ripped open. This could be a good segway into why he has no shirt in Devil May Cry 3 and could happen at the end of the season. That’s about all I could find.

I look forward to seeing how this plays out. Considering who's making this show and the scenes we just saw, I'm reasonably confident that at least the fight scenes won't disappoint us and live up to the legacy that DMC has left behind. My biggest hope and interest lies in how they'll expand on Dante's backstory and his day to day life. We already got a good glimspe from the older anime on how Dante lives his life in between the mainline games, and I really want to see more of that. More specifically, I hope that this first season covers the events of the first prequel novel and prequel manga, showing us his time with Nell Goldstein, Grue, and finally his confrontation with Gilver, while mixing those events with the events of the DMC 3 prequel manga, ending just before the events of DMC 3, which will be the second season. I think they can safely pull this off without running into any of the mistakes they made with Nocturne.

My biggest hangup is that Dante is running around with Beretta 92FS handguns instead of Ebony and Ivory. Unless this takes place before DMC 3 which means we get to see Nell Goldstein, Nico's grandmother.

Man, a lot of people don't seem to have a clue what Adi's previous series was like despite how big it got lol Just like Castlevania, this is it's own continuity that borrows from every aspect of DMC; the orignal game series, manga, side material, DmC: Devil May Cry, everything. Some characters will likely be changed, but it'll still have what makes the series what it is. Everyone getting grumpy over JYB voicing Dante instead of Nero is boldly assuming Nero will even be in this series. Or he'll be the same Nero from the games. Let alone how irrelevant it is to try and figure out where this takes place in the main timeline....when it clearly doesn't.

My mind is blown by this official teaser! Good job Adi Shankar and animation team Studio Mir! This looks like a really good and faithful adaptation of Devil May Cry! It also looks like the younger Dante so it must take place before, during or after the events of Devil May Cry 3 maybe if it is canon to the games. The action, moves, style, abilities, feats and powers of Dante are like in the games! I wish I could hear Lady or Trish say "Wanna know the name? Devil May Cry" during the title intro! This is definitely a JACKPOT!

As a long-time fan of DMC and Adi Shankar, I firmly believe the series is in good hands

They shouldn't have got Johnny Young Basch as Dante. He already plays Nero and having to recast Nero to avoid them sounding the same would be so weird. They should have got Dante's game VA or at least someone who isn't already voicing a MC in the franchise.

Why in the hell would you have a voice actor who already plays a prominent character in the series (nero) replace the main characters voice(dante)??? It's just offputting as hell. All we're going to be hearing is nero cause no offense to johnny yong bosch but he really doesn't have that much range in voice acting. I don't care if the anime ends up mediocre or amazing this is a shitty direction choice imo.

I love still/tracking/panning shots that emphasize the battle choreography. I love motion blurs in animated fight scenes. I love seeing animators pop off with stupid elaborate flashy weapon movements during fight scenes. Animated fight scenes are starting to get really, really fun

I’m kinda okay with Johnny voicing Dante if it’s just for the younger sounding voice. Reuben showed absolutely still voice Dante’s older self. Who cares what Reddit thinks of his politics, it’s not a good reason for him to not be the voice anymore.

Hearing Nero's VA just makes me think he was snooping through Dante's closet and is now going around dressed like him in order to prevent the Demon from realizing Dante is MIA. In all seriousness, Looks like it might do some weird time skipping or maybe multiple alternate timeline stuff since Dante is seen wearing different jackets. The first one looks more like DMC4's, but later is looks more DMC3. Could be weird animation shows... but we'll see.

Seeing this genuinely makes me wish we got a Darkstalkers Netflix show. If we can't get a game, lemme see my favorite cast in animated media again... 0:54 Wait, is this an adaptation of the manga volume with White Rabbit? That would be a cool deep cut... I just hope it's not fully basing itself off that dialogue, Dante was kind of creepy with Alice... That aside, it'd be cool if they adapted all the stuff that didn't even make it to print.
