I love in this version where Ben's Phantom grabs Raoul by the throat and Raoul is completely helpless to do anything. It shows how much stronger Erik is than Raoul.

My favorite part is when the phantom very properly fixes his vest and cravat and of course the smooth and intimidating slow prowl.

1:37 - I just love this part - they stop being nice and taking turns at being snide, and just go at one another at the same time.

I love how Eric just calmly fixes his tie at the start. Eric grabbing Raoul's neck is so polite of him given what he truly is capable of.

This Erik looks like a mannequin, ghost like even. I think it ties everything together, definitely makes him more intimidating, I love it.

Just listen to the two versions of London and Australia again. Well, each has its own advantages to describe the Phantom in this song and I like both: - London - Ramin: Sarcasm, Mockery, and Contemptuous - Australia - Ben: Sassy, Bold, and Badass No one is overrated or underrated, to me both Ramin and Ben have played their "own version of Phantom" and that's why they have been remembered and get recognized. Why must we compare them to each other? Just enjoy the song and that's all.

If only Ben and his brother Alex would consider reuniting reviving an Aussie production of Love Never Dies LOL and being rivals depicted here as a Erik and Raoul. That would double the fun!!!

I think why this is my favorite duel from these two in this, is you can see just how far Raoul has fallen. Penniless. A gambler, and not a very good one. Drinks. Never bothers to understand that he HAS a family. A son who wants to talk to him, connect with him, and he ignores his uniqueness. And yells at Christine and blames everyone of the mistakes that HE caused. So why the Phantom plays the devil this this case, with: “Shall we two, make a bet?” Raoul was quick to jump on it, it made me upset that once he mentions Christine, “If she sings, you lose tonight. You leave from here disappear.” He was quick to ask: “Fine, but if she won’t IF I win?” Just the mention of his debts wiped away he didn’t even care about what SHE wanted. And you think he would learn from his mistakes in The Phantom of the Opera movie. As the song goes: “Say goodbye. As we dance with the devil tonight. Don’t you dare look at him in the eyes...” Raoul has fallen so low, Here’s the difference between Eric and Raoul after this song, no matter what Christine would have chosen Eric would still love her. Raoul just wanted to win. And the fact that Christine slept with him and now their son maybe Eric’s made he realize how he had lost more than he bet on. And that is something he couldn’t take losing.

LND is growing on me. I've seen some of the bootlegs of the version with Ramin and Sierra, and I love their portrayals of the characters. I cherry-pick my favorite songs, and this is one of them.

Raoul's "You're insane" just makes me lose it for some reason. Every other lyric in the song is pretty clever and witty and then he just bursts out with yOuRe iNsAne

When Covid first started this show was the only thing that kept me going

Dear Erik ... too bad a kiss on his forehead from Christine was enough to kill him in the book. My heart tightened, he spoke with the Persian, he smiled and told him "She kissed me my friend, She kissed me !!" And it was a chaste kiss on the forehead… let alone a whole night together. A few weeks later, a single sentence was published in the obituary: ERIK IS DEAD. Poor soul destroyed by the lack of love in his life. A gesture of tenderness was enough to make him die of joy. When I saw the Shumacher show I smiled, I already knew how it would end but that didn't make me feel better in the end. Then my husband takes Love Never Dies home ... and I find that someone has figured out the rest. A Raoul totally disillusioned and aware of being a second choice, a bitter Christine who was with her husband, her childhood friend, towards whom, however, she had nothing more than a tender childhood affection. A child who ... from the very beginning it was understood that he could not be the son of the Count, the chanting and poignant notes like those of Erik .. and the mother who explains the true nature of love. Only regret: Meg Giry. Unfortunately she suffered terrible loneliness and paid the highest price. - However, this scene is wonderful, seeing Erik controlling himself and giving up using the snare indicates that he has matured a lot in those ten years. He has learned patience and now he wants to do things right.

I wish Christine had found out about the bet, told them both "fuck you for trying to decide my life behind my back" and gone with Meg and Gustave on a holiday without men.

Raoul deserved so much better in this musical! I will forever be salty at how he was treated. :(
