@@PainofRazeration That was a Patreon vote, and those are typically the realm of Mr. Dekay. Had I realized in advance, I might have tried to swap him that for this, but alas.
The copyright strike is totally legit. Why would a band and label want someone to talk about their work and give examples, thus making it known to a wider audience?
Hahaha. Sometimes I think the automatic claims are so beyond detrimental. I wonder if rights holders can whitelist certain channels they respect and trust to not abuse it (IE upload full songs or albums).
I bought the new DevilDriver Album, the first time I listened to it I thought it was interesting on my headphones. The second time I subknocked it in my car I loved it. Solid album, DD never puts out the same record twice. Can't wait to hear part 2. I wish bands put out double albums more like Soilwork and Solution .45. I like the filler songs because sometimes you get some really cool sonicscapes and musical quests and you don't have to worry so much about a Japan release. I welcome the idea when bands take risks and switch up the sound in the end you usually get something special.
I was asked to review this, yeah, and I agreed knowing I could give some good insight and also use the shout outs section to big up some homies and sick bands!
Hey! Bradley's back! Awesome! Nice review. "Brad tries to be funny" was cold. Honestly, I'm kinda over the new editor, with all the jump cuts, audio tricks, random zooms, and now directly inserting themselves into the review. I don't need to 'entertained' on top of what Brad (or any of the Banger reviewers) is already bringing to the table, thanks.
Hey thanks for the love! Honestly, I thought it was pretty funny what I actually said, but it was in the context of a lot of stuff I was doing throughout the review. It was basically an extended infomercial-styled commercial for Liquid Death, which I constantly big-upped throughout the review, like every time I burped I said something like "Crazy what drinking sparkling water will do for your burpy vocals...try Liquid Death!" Haha. I enjoyed what Daniel did, but it definitely undercuts how fucking hilarious I can be. Hahaha.
@@AggressiveTendencies Daniel Dekay? Is that who edited this? If so, that makes sense. He's always come off a touch arrogant, and demeaning to other people, especially when he disagrees with them. Great review Brad, you're always thorough, and I would have liked to hear you said!
@@cruel_cosmos Our video editor is Daniel Williams. Two Daniels. I promise you that Dekay is not arrogant or demeaning! We disagree on plenty of music things and I've never felt disrespected. Hopefully you can get to see that side of him because dude rocks!
@@AggressiveTendencies If that's the case, then I'm mistaken! Maybe I've just interpreted him incorrectly in the past. Cheers brother, like others have said, glad to see you back
I feel that, man. I have had to separate myself from music to even have fun with it anymore. I'm glad you're feeling better and back to reviewing stuff though. Hope to see you around for a while.
@@BangerTV Didn't mean to be disrespectful in any way btw😅 Sorry if it turned out that way. Your reviews are always both informative and entertaining & you're lowkey my favourite reviewer on here [as some people have also said, would be glad to hear your thoughts on the new Anaal record as well]
I like the new Devil Driver album, I have been a fan of theirs for years now and I always enjoy the music that they come out with , it’s like a combination of Melodic Death Metal and groove Metal, the melodies are catchy as hell and get stuck in my head , Hail from Long Island New York 🤘🤘😈
@@BangerTV yes it was pretty sick. It was a great time for metal because the true metal fans and extreme metal fans hadn’t gotten cable internet yet to make up all their hilarious rules of what metal fans are allowed to listen to lol.
So glad to have Brad back! Definitely check out his Slipknot article was a great breathe of fresh air to hear a different perspective like that! Recently been jamming Fury of our Makers Hands so I guess this album is appropriate gonna have to give it a listen.
Thanks so much friend. I really enjoyed writing that article and was so grateful Hard Noise gave me a home for it like a year after I started it. It's been a journey. I enjoy some songs off Fury, like most of their discography!
Coal Chamber and Meegs Rascon will always hold a spot in my heart after seeing them open for Pantera and Anthrax way back when and getting to talk with Meegs for like an hour after the show. he hooked the 5 of us kids up with some Pantera merch, great experience
Absolutely agree with you on the excessive filler content found on many double albums. Live double albums, for the most part, do not follow this pattern. One recent double album that I don't perceive a lot of filler material is The Living Infinite I and II by Swedish stalwarts, Soilwork. This double album is some of the last music, and best music, with drummer extraodinaire Dirk Verbeuren as a member of Soilwork, before he left to join Megadeth.
@@tydendurler9574 "The Fury Of Our Maker's Hand" is the one that stands out for me as their most complete sounding record. I was impressed with "Outlaws 'til The End" but then they aren't their songs...
I was 16 in 1999 so Nu Metal was what I grew up on and Coal Chamber were definitely amongst my favorites. That being said it was nice that when my musical taste expanded into heavier projects Dez also moved on to a more metal based sound, with that first DD record being a perfect blend of the Nu Metal sound and straight groove metal. End of the Line from their second album is still a straight up banger
I'll jam End of the Line soon. I've listened to the band a bunch, though I don't know if I'm specifically familiar with that song - at least don't know the songs by name that well.
I’m 61 and just got into Groove Metal. I love DevilDriver,Sepultura and Machine Head!! I’m going to give this album a try! What other groups would you recommend?
Thank you so much! Yeah, glad to be back. The break was crucial, but the love I've gotten from y'all upon my return is enough to turn a cynic into an optimist. Much love!
For me the last "real" Devil Driver was Winter Kills after that was a total personnel change except Dez. The older "original" Devil Driver is much better.
THANK YOU FOR CATCHING THAT! A nice little nod to the fact that the cover is a destroyed pig, and also the fact that, like those VA pioneers, Anaal Nathrakh took grindcore as a base upon which to build some truly forward-thinking music.
Listened to devil driver the first 5 songs sound good then from 6 until second to last seem like filler, or requires another listen. Anaal Nathrakh sound like throwing things at a wall and turning them into a masterpiece, its just everything I love in one package.
Yo I have to ask out of curiosity. Why haven't you guys reviewed Orbit Culture at all? Beautifully brutal band and their latest album is a masterpiece. Previous album was awesome as well \m/
Not an easy answer for any "why haven't you reviewed _____" question. Limited space to do reviews, other stuff came out that week, etc. Many things are factored in. That band is cool though.
Brand of Sacrifice shirt!!! The album was sick!🤘🏾 Archspire will always be my favorite Brutal Technical death metal band. I've been a metalhead for over a decade, and when I first got into metal I was listening to tons of underground deathcore and black metal. I pride myself on finding metal through underground bands.. I also got into mainstream bands like, Asking Alexandria, Periphery, I see stars, Born of Osiris, Veil of maya, Emmure, Slipknot, Korn etc.. bands that a lot of other metalheads know.
Good to have you back Brad, I think you are 100% right about DD, far too many fillers and I don't know why but this band really struggle with keeping my attention through every single of their album, at some point I just loos my interest, very good review and see you soon, greetings from Poland 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
@@Destructor240 You are correct! @Venus Life, Liquid Death is a metal water company, who makes both still and sparkling water. Cans are much better for recycling than water bottles, which just end up in the trash.
I agree with the review, but with Slipknot, I loved there 1st album because of it’s chaotic nature. After that though they’ve just tried waaaaayyyy to hard to satisfy the younger crowds. They just come off as gimmicky. And it starts with the masks that at one point had a real reason for being snd then just evolved into a schtick that teenyboppers love, and tend to sell more records than the actual mediocre music. If they’re borrowing sounds in any way it’s to simply stay relevant, not in a good way either. Real metal stays true to itself. That’s why I can put in an album from 30 years ago and it doesn’t feel stale. Slipknots music will, because of what you said.
Hey fyi you can edit the original video to shorten the clip and it will usually let it through after processing. Not really cool to keep both versions up as now you’re taking up TWO slots from the front page. Bad reviewer etiquette when people work so hard to get there.
I would respectfully pass that review to another team member (maybe Dylan?), as I don't really "get" the band. That being said, I have been finding more songs I dig lately, so perhaps it's growing on me.
Pretty lame about the copy right strike. Honestly turned it off after that. I need a taste to get into the review. Nothing against BangerTV I'll watch your next review. Always.
I can't understand why Orchard Music thinks preventing people in a wide range of countries from seeing their bands or music is a good idea. I mean if I was from Banger T.V. or any other music magazine, I'd think twice about reviewing their bands, because reviews are simply better with a music sample in them. When I saw the video was initially blocked, my first impression was forget this album, I have no interest in finding out more about a band or album from a music lable with this kind of policy.
I wonder if there is a way for a label/distribution company to whitelist certain channels that they see as beneficial to them and that they trust to not abuse the policy by just posting full songs or albums. Would be a smart policy to implement because I agree, this is only ever beneficial.
Hello friends of BangerTV. We have a new videoclip and we'll be honoured if you publish it. We try to communicate with you. Please say something. Cheers from Portugal.
I've never really been interested in DevilDriver, they're not awful but they sound kind of run of the mill modern metal to me, not super heavy or abrasive. I saw them play at Bloodstock a few years ago and they were ok but reminded me of Machine head who i don't really like either.
Last time I saw DD (5 years ago) Dez spoke half the lyrics when he was supposed to roar. Maybe that's why he is going for more "singing". Best album they recorded was "The Fury..." and it has been a steady decline since then.
Ahhh perhaps. Who knows! I hope his voice is holding up for him alright. That's gotta be the scariest thing for anyone, but especially a vocalist and ESPECIALLY a career vocalist.
@@AggressiveTendencies I do want to see DD live again to give him another chance. I have a very fond memory of a show they played around 2005 at the Glass House in LA. I remember coming out of that show with a huge grin on my face. I just hope I'm not grinfucked at the next one.
When the mixture is potent, I love it. Sometimes, it just misses though. Overall, they definitely have a solid live setlist (and put on a good show tbh), or a greatest hits album/playlist.
and the new six feet under sucks a lot!!chris his voice is completly destroid en music boring what a desaster in the beginning they where verry good but know......0
idk, Wishing is probably the only interesting song on this record...the others aren't all that interesting imo... they just don't stick with you after you've listened to the record a few times... used to love DD but stopped following them after Pray for Villains.
