Great images. I went to Devils Pulpit after your last visit. Took some initial shots before moving upstream to the pulpit, where the water suddenly rose. I made a fast exit, but the water still got up to my waist. Lost a spare battery, damaged my tripod, and broke a toe! This is one place to exercise caution, especially after rain. But I do now have a reason to go back 😊

Ouch! Sorry to hear about the injury and lost gear. Ive never actually went up as far as the pulpit itself. I'm usually there alone and i cant swim so i've never felt too confident wading out to the deeper water

Wonderful video John. You were so fortunate to have this area for yourself. Lovely images.

Thanks Keith! I was very lucky as on my way back to the car i passed at least 15 people making their way along the path. The trick seems to be go early!

You can actually get all the way up the gorge, but you will need waders and you will need to extend your tripod legs to use as a wading stick. It gets thigh deep just after the point you stopped, and with the water being so black, you need to feel your way up the gorge, trying to avoid any deep pools as you can’t see the bottom at all. Eventually it does shallow off as it approaches the area where the stairs are. I wouldn’t do it again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone as it is just too dangerous, especially if you are weighed down with a camera bag. You should give the Fairy Glen near Rosemarkie a go, there’s a couple of nice waterfalls up that gorge.

Thanks for the info! I doubt i'd brave the entire gorge to be honest. I was there alone and don't swim so i know my limits! Good to know its possible though!

Loving the colours, good captures, well executed. Have you found the hidden falls not that far from the pulpit?

Thanks Scott. No i've not found any falls near there. Do you know where they are or what they're called?

Nice to see something different from finnich glen, I walked down the gorge from the pulpit a few years ago & as long as the water is not flowing to fast the deepest bit was about knee deep, i was wearing chest waders to be on the safe side, lol, there is a lovely little beach area on the left not far up from where you went, i believe its where they filimed the scene from outlander.

Magic conditions, John, the colours were spectacular well worth the decent into the gorge. These frosty starts are just Battery charging for Humans, Super start to my Sunday, just champing at the bit to head out, this week ahead looks pretty good.

Brilliant, John. I've never seen any of these views from further down the gorge. I've been there a few times and never thought to go further than the stairway. Great images. I must tell you of another location, sort of on the way back to Glasgow from the Pulpit. One of the best waterfalls around, and I've not seen it with full water yet. Maybe next time I'm back home.
