My honest opinion: I thought that overall Devin sounded better on the OM&M track than Aaron did on the I See Stars track.

Hearing two of my favorite bands from my Warped Tour years trade places really goes to show just how talented these guys are, in an Era of so many bands just doing cookie cutter breakdowns they both were bands that stood out, both in terms of composition (I See Stars with their blend of EDM and metalcore and Of Mice and Men for their sheer energy they managed to put into songs). As a producer myself, I've completely changed my approach to music by learning production techniques more in line with rap and EDM to compliment my mixes, but I still manage to do them from a rock/metal context. I've been using JST plugins a ton lately (fun fact, Gain Reduction and JST Clip maxed out on 808s make your walls shake) and they've really taken my craft to the next level. I have 2 album credits to my name now (an instrumental prog/hip-hop/edm fusion project and a rap album for an artist I've been working with), and use almost exclusively JST plugins for my production (JST Clip and Gain Reduction for 808s and Kicks, Soar for vocals and guitars, and the Joel Waneseck compression suite for all the various group busses). Huge fan of your work Joey Sturgis Tones, sorry for the long-winded comment but I genuinely love your plugins, use them on every mix, and even if I don't win the Howard Benson suite (fingers crossed, I've been eyeing them for a while, I think it would really help that final 10% to give my vocal production that extra sauce), I'm going to continue using and advocating them because they're genuinely amazing, even for the genre-bending stuff that I make. Music is so cross-compatible these days, the sign of a great plug-in is one that can be used in all contexts and still sound amazing. Keep up the good works guys, and I'd love to see more of these crossover videos, great stuff!
