Had my best day at a local pond with a blowtorch. Bluegill, Rainbow Trout and Largemouth all hit it.

I didn’t have Antron in orange, i substituted with some bright orange 20lb Dacron backing and it worked brilliantly.

Great pattern, there is few similar tones and profile patterns used in the north west of Spain most are in to the Perdigón concept , but the feathers are tie earlier in the process , in my case I use Cod de Leon right before I start wrapping the body materials, we tied the fibers tips forward about full hook shank long and folded back to finish the pattern. Is a good way to have less struggle on the trimming to finishing the head, either way is a hook eye or a bead head. Thank you for sharing.

One of my more productive fly patterns and it often finds itself tied on at the start most fishing days. I use a UV dubbing and add 5x mono for more durability.

Awesome video. I want to start to make some fly tying videos and I wanted to know what you use a background? Keep up the great work.

So amazing! Can you do some more of Devins Patterns? Maybe some he mentioned in the european nymphing techinques video.

Fantastic little pattern Tim. Will give this one a go for sure. How do you find the varnish applicator bottles? Was thinking of investing in one a few months back instead of my trimmed brush method. I find my Sally Hansens can thicken quite quickly even in the glass bottle and have to add a drop or 2 of acetone every now and then to get the viscosity I’m after. A nylon varnish plus a drop or 2 of acetone in a plastic bottle caused a bit of concern but I see you use one quite a lot without any obvious issues.

Awesome idea for wrapping the herl. Question tho. Why not just palmer the soft hackle back?

a double edged razor blade would probably make trimming the hackles easier. give it a good bend and then push the fibers in to the bead with the sharp edge.

Would it be more durable if you used green brassie wire in place of the tinsel?

Do you have a website that you have material lists for each fly you tie?

What's the reasoning behind this type of soft hackle vs the traditional style of wrapping the whole feather around and sweeping the fibers backwards?

You can use all those oversized feathers you are left with on a skin with this method. There are other videos out there for using large soft hackles feathers on smaller flies too. Several ways to get it done.

Funny I just tied this fly without the bead. Lol
