+Irfan Mansor It's really not that hard. It'd be harder if he played every note of the triplet but the part was written where he's only playing the 2nd and 3rd note of the triplet
The way that Ryan plays it is different to Dirk, he does the triplet but only the last two notes, but Dirk plays all the notes. Both machines in their own right.
Seeing Dev with a huge smile on stage makes me stop missing SYL, I got that shit on CDs anyway. My only grief is I never heard Shitstorm live while it was hot. But that's ok, the sun is shining now. Rock on devyboy, we love you madly and deeply.
I was lucky to hear shitstorm live, saw an amazing night in Bristol were I live, it was zimmers hole, then Devin Townsend project then SYL, fuckin awsome👍
Sadly, everybody in this band was replaceable. You can't say that about a Gene Hoglan or Jed Simon. Nowadays he makes more Disney music than anything heavy. However, I also wouldn't want a SYL reunion if they didn't make it heavy and ruin the old albums by that. SYL will always be legendary and maybe shouldn't be touched again but not getting anything more and never seeing them is the worst loss in my life.
I've been there. First thought before the show started: "Devin fuckin who...??". During the Show: "Goddamn thats good". After the show: "Thanks god I didn't miss it - AWESOME!
Only Devin and his music has the power which can compel me to wave my hands like an idiot in front of my laptop screen wearing earphones all alone in my room. (and to make youtube comments)
After listening to the entire concert I'm starting to like this band their different and their so great with the crowd I'm gonna start listening to Devin Townsend more often! \m/
Man, I enjoyed that blonde girl during Deadhead! So glad that I'm not the only one that had to wipe tears from my face. Shit, this performance is just astonishing. Thank you Devin for improving life on earth.
It's incredibly strange coming from "For Those Aboot To Rock" by SYL, to this. I love the diversity of Devin's musical catalogue, it is simply brilliant.
It's incredible how Devin (and the band) manage to create such a massive sound with only two guitars, a drumkit and a bass. Thinking of By Your Command! Love that guy!
Add in huge sounding layers of keyboards by Mike St. Jean not played live here but on backing track (you can see him monitoring the backing track labtop during WAR) . He plays live keyboards in the Albert Hall concert 2015.
Copied setlist from Erebus' other video: Seventh Wave 3:31 War 9:59 By My Command 16:20 Deadhead 25:06 Planet Of The Apes 33:43 Numbered 46:02 Supercrush 51:00 Kingdom 56:24 Juular 1:01:32 Grace 1:06:38 Bad Devil 1:13:22
This vid is definitely worth the watch, if for nothing more than the performance of Supercrush! at the 47:25 mark. Good god, man...awesome. Seventh Wave is a great track...the opening from Ocean Machine: Biomech.
It must be really hard to play with Devin and dont mess it up while he keeps dropping lines like these: Ok, I'll ask a bunch of heavy metal questions: -You guys fucking ready to rock? -Are you guys making circle pits and shit and whatever? -U guys have repressed outlets and fantasies about punching your dad in the sack? Gotta love this guy!!!
barbwireboy2 Sure it does, man... Have you heard ANY other performance? This venue is the worst I've ever heard them, honestly. Any other venue, though, you can almost swear it's the damn CD playing at times except for Devin's voice. His music translates very well, actually!
Someone needs to bring some life to these statues. I understand that not everybody that attends a metal show is into moshing, headbanging, etc, but for christ's sake, SOMEBODY MOVE! Maybe it's just me, but when Devin Townsend plays 'Kingdom' 'Bad Devil' 'Grace' (You get my point), I get a rush of adrenaline and I have to head bang. I can't just stand. If you see me standing, It's because I'm awe struck by Dev's astounding stage presence and musicianship.
To the New DTP fans & listeners... This video offering, in no way, " kind " to the original sound quality of the band, of Devin...nor the original forms they were copied to. I HIGHLY SUGGEST finding other live videos of DTP and "know" / learn... the original songs & quality of his sound, by listening to the original tracks of their studio offerings.
I can see through the pan of the camera who doesn't speak English. Devin....you are absolutely correct in your approach....Bahhaha...Had me laughing my guts out. (fellow BC'er)
